Greetings from Western NC, This past Monday my wife and I traveled from our home in Western NC to visit the Oliver manufacturing facility Tuesday, Jan 21. The trip was an easy drive of approx 450 miles to the OTT plant. We were able to see the Oliver’s that were completely finished as well as those in production. It was absolutely well worth it the time spent. Our sales person Anita Johnston spent most of the day with us and really did a great job answering all of our questions as we toured the plant and viewed Oliver trailers on site. Most importantly we never felt rushed or pressured to place and order which really was a plus. All of the staff including production manager Bill Pearce were really a pleasure to speak with. The attention to detail by plant employees was very impressive and really added to the wow factor. We learned a lot on this plant tour about superior fit and finish and most of all the pride taken by Oliver in hand crafting the finest travel trailer in the world. If you have not yet toured the Oliver manufacturing plant and are considering placing an order, we highly recommend taking the tour. Again a special thank you to “Topgun2” for encouraging us to do the plant tour and spending time with us showing us his Oliver! Owning a travel trailer has been a life dream of mine, however my wife never felt the same way. I finally got her approval to visit a local stick built dealer in Nashville, and she nor I were at all impressed. After much coxing I was able to trick her on an Oliver tour. Needless to say, she was extremely impressed and wanted an Oliver LE2 immediately following our tour. We could not have been more blown away by the quality compared to the trailers we had toured previously. Granted it was about 3 times the price, but I figure it will last 6 times as long.

OK, we broke a string. Can’t afford $500 or a sharp stick in the eye. Since we’re on the road it will have to wait until we get home. Question: where is the best place to get string? We will use the instructions in this thread. They don’t make the beige shades anymore and Jason quoted me $660 to replace all shades with the new white ones. When we get home I’ll open a bottle of wine, clear off the dining room table and earn my Shade Restringing Merit Badge. Mike

I also endorse seeing the Bad Lands. Having had one son attend the South Dakota State Univ. and the other attend the Univ of Wyoming; we traveled extensively through that region and found the Bad Lands very memorable. Gotta remember, we in the eastern part of the US don't have those types of openness so it's all new to us. We even enjoyed the endless miles of corn driving through Iowa and the flatness of Kansas. It makes us appreciate the vastness of this great country and how varied the topography is within it. It's all beautiful in it's own unique ways. Experience and enjoy it ALL.

John, I gotta disagree. We went to Badlands NP last year and it was gorgeous. In western SD, I also recommend the Black Hills, especially Custer State Park. Pictures from Badlands:

I just completed my changeover to a Nova Kool compressor fridge. The model I ended up with is a R5810. These photos show some of the major steps of the installation of the new refrigerator. Because the opening is a little bit too wide, I had to fabricate the four stainless brackets. They are epoxied in place and allow the fridge mounting screws to pull against the fiberglass cabinet front. The outside upper and lower vents are still removable and are sealed with closed cell foam. I used the outside access several times during the installation and can see a benefit to having outside access in the future for cleaning behind the fridge, etc. Because everything associated with the fridge is now inside the camper, it is 100 times easier to remove and replace. I disconnected the gas line outside under the camper and replaced the "T" fitting with a flair union. I plugged both ends of the gas line that runs up to the old fridge so that it'll stay clean for future use if needed. The last things that I have to fabricate are the upper and lower grills. I have 1/8 aluminum stock that I'll cut to size and mill slots in. I plan on painting these gloss white. When running the only noise (and it's very slight) are the fans I added to help remove the heat from the back of the fridge. So far the fridge has been running on battery power from the day I received the fridge now 14 days ago. There have been several cloudy days during this time and the batteries have come back to 100%. The only things running have been the fridge and the Maxxfan on auto mode. There have been temps in the camper of 95 degrees and the fridge has maintained 18-22 degrees in the freezer and 33-35 degrees in the fridge. Testing will continue with a few short trips before we head out to Quartzsite in December or January.

RB: As a Professional Engineer, I can assure you that your wife's opinion is structurally correct. With each additional support point under the frame, the less flex the hull will have with variable loads. This is true all the way up to having the hull sitting on a concrete slab (An infinite number of support points). I'm 240 pounds and like Overland do not find the flex objectionable... probably due to my past boat life. However, if your wife feels it is, I recommend adding two additional supports. That said, I would not do it as pictured. Rather simply get two half ton screw jacks and don't attached them to the hull. This would provide the same amount of "domestic tranquility" and would not be a permanent eyesore.
