  1. Hello all, We purchase a 2019 Oliver Elite II, hull number 448 on Sept. 9th, 2025. We been talking about buying one for years. About 4 years ago we were visiting friends near Nashville and stopped by the Oliver plant to take a tour. At the time, we wanted to buy one, but decided it was a bit too much money for us. We put it off, but in the meantime, I had joined the FB used Oliver trailer group. I saw one come up for sale that wasn't far from us, so I talked to my wife about going to look at it. She we in, and a few days later I was towing our new, used Oliver home. It's our first travel trailer. We haven't used it yet. The previous owner had problems with the Truma AquaGo water heater and removed it. My wife will want warm water when we do use it, so I was able to contact a local mobile RV Truma installer. We should have a new one installed tomorrow. Next I want to overhaul the suspension and tires. After that, I think we're ready to plan some trips. 🙂

  2. Hopefully you will never need this, but I would like to recommend a fiberglass repair shop in the Pacific Northwest. Chapman Boat Repair, Inc. (208-323-2484) does fiberglass repairs for many of the local boat dealers. Chapman just did a warranty crack repair in the hitch platform (below the doghouse), which involved grinding out the crack area, reinforcing it with fiberglass, spraying gelcoat, and sanding and buffing the gelcoat. No spray paint was used, which does not age like the rest of the trailer's fiberglass and will eventually stand out. The resulting repair and color match is perfect. I heartily recommend Chip Chapman should you ever be in need of fiberglass work.

  4. Day one, first trailer, you first thought was the “suspension overhaul would be a good start!” We all have made good and bad decisions with our RVs and trailers! Your first action is profound! Go man, great start, do it, and ask away with your questions! 🤣

  5. @jd1923 Thanks. Lots to learn and do with this as our first trailer. I thought the suspension overhaul would be a good start. I have no idea how many miles are on this trailer, but the current set up looks a bit tired. Thanks for the links and info. You're posts have been very helpful.

  6. We’ve already got the ALCAN springs, should have done the axles at the same time, but, better late than never! We’ll spend the night in Ridgway before heading to Durango to spend the weekend with son and family. A big breakfast is waiting for us in Grand Junction while our axles are swapped out! Mike

  7. Hi John / @jd1923, Did you order these EZ Flex equalizers? https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Suspension-Parts/Dexter/K71-655-00.html I'm planning to bring my trailer up to Alcan and do the full Alcan 5200 axel and leaf swap. I just ordered new shocks, so the equalizers would be the only thing extra to buy. I appreciate everyone's discussion and insight into all of this. My wife and I just bought our trailer about a week ago. It's a 2019, so it's sitting on the 3500 # axles with what looks like original shocks. I was told the leafs had been changed out by the original owner but after crawling under, they look original or older. I'll feel better with preemptive replacement.

  8. Ha, well almost. Day 1, buy trailer. First to do was get a new water heater installed. Had that done today. Next on list, new Alcan suspension. Buff and ceramic coat the exterior. Possible future upgrades: larger solar panels and more battery capacity. new AC? but will see how much we use the Dometic. I've read all the bad things about how loud it is. I asked the Truma tech while he was installing the hot water heater how much a new Truma AC would cost. He though in the $3-4,000. Maybe we can live with it the way it is, maybe not... My method is get the really big stuff done, so it's not some emergency that ruins an otherwise good time away from home. Those are few and far between, so I'd rather the expensive big projects get done asap.

  9. Nice! Big step forward. We have really liked the Truma Aquago. Customizing before you even use it! It is your first TT so give yourself some grace as you learn how to use it and tow with it. Luckily Olivers tow extremely well.

  10. Thanks all for the warm welcome. Today was step two; getting a new Truma AquaGo Comfort installed. The previous owner had removed the original because it didn't work. We now have on demand hot water!

  13. There is a almost grown female cat living at the Oliver Service Center. There is a cat that lives at the camp ground in Bull Shoals. Everyone knows to bring it food. https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks/bull-shoals-white-river-state-park It is so sad that people let fertile cats run around to breed more unwanted pets. Same thing goes for dogs.

  14. Mike, Alcan is a great company to work with. The downtown area is very nice for looking at their art, having breakfast and poking around in a shop or two. John

  16. I’m okay with this change. It will be interesting to see how low “low-speed data” is. We’re currently camped at Great Basin National Park with very sketchy cell service and the Starlink mini is working great. No utilities here so I’m using a Jackery power supply that was 50% off on Amazon prime day. No complaints. Mike
