  1. I don't think I've ever torqued a wheel on any vehicle that I've owned. Yes, I do own a torque wrench, but I've just get the wheel good and tight and then one more bump for good safety. I do use my torque wrench for torqueing nuts that are of smaller size and ones that I could be twisted off with too much pressure. I feel I have the mechanical knowledge and know when something is tight, it's that feeling you have when all is right, I know many don't have it, so you best use a torque wrench. trainman
  2. I feel the same way with my 2019 Ram 1500 4x4. trainman
  3. Since you have been towing trailers before with your two vehicles, I'm not sure what you are wanting to find in your comparison that most of us probably already know. It a big 1 ton truck vs a 1/2 truck, diesel vs gas, rough ride vs smoother ride, etc. Personally I'd take the Tundra, newer vehicle and less change of some type of failure on a 15 year vehicle. trainman
  4. Wanting to get to the back side USB port on the bed right side center bed stand. I want to get to the back side to get to the wires on the USB port to tie another USB port into the back for power to an outside new install USB weather proof port. I took the top off of the cabinet, then removed to tray, and then pulled the drawer out, but all is enclosed in there. I see the is a excess panel with four screws, I can probably excess the back of the USB from there. Any ideas on this would be appreciated, thanks. trainman
  5. There is a reason why I can't use that 120v plug, long story, but yesterday the BBQ grill blew into the trailer and I got a small 1" scratch. It just happens to be in a place where a small USB port would work great, so that's why I'm doing this. Don't know how much I will use it, but it will be there for use if we need it for outside use. Now I just need to look inside and see if all will clear and which way I will run the wires, shouldn't be too much of a problem for me to do. trainman
  6. Just Asking, my thought was to get power from inside from the ports on the right side bed stand between the beds. Want to install the post somewhere back by the heater area outside, is there a double wall there and fishing the wire hopefully won't be a problem, thoughts on this, thanks. trainman
  7. I've watched a lot of TFL videos and I like there views on there test results. My personal view on electric vehicles is pretty much a no go at this time and the more it's pushed on us the less I like it. I think for those who want an intown vehicle to run around in is probably a buyable solution for some and if it can help save the planet and it works for you, them go for it. Being retired and using so little fuel in our vehicles it would never work out for us to go electric at this time. trainman
  8. I believe ours did, it played the little jingle then it beeped again after the jingle, wife said it was normal, but I didn't think it was like that, so with new batteries, it worked as it should, no beep after the jingle and lock bar worked correctly. Wow, that was a lot of beeping and jingling. trainman
  9. In Ft. Worth, Texas yesterday it was $3.54 for regular. trainman
  10. Our door lock started to act up, it would beep and try to unlock, but it didn't, the fix was replace the batteries, they didn't have enough power to throw the lock lever. When in doubt, it's usually the batteries on most batteries operated items. trainman
  11. Sounds like the way I have done it over the years, plus I do check where the levelers go and make sure it is clear of rocks and smooth, not much more that you can do. trainman
  12. I'm using two blocks of wood that I had for the last 45 years, still work great. trainman
  13. Got my leveler replacement yesterday (Tuesday) pretty quick service from Anderson. Also I got another chock block in the replacement kit, thanks Anderson. Question, does the black rubber pad help protect the leveler in any way, I would think it would help with absorbing the rocks, gravel, etc. that might be on the ground and help with pressure on the leveler. Do any of you use the black rubber pad, I think I might start using them. I don't have the Anderson rubber pads, but I do have extra Stall Mat material for the ones sold at Tractor Supply that I cut off for other use. thanks trainman
  14. You must be reading this on the Airstream Forums, or somewhere else. I have known of only one Oliver that leaked, and it was an improper installed seal around the roof top A/C unit. I'm not sure how a Oliver would leak around the two haves, as the top does over lap the bottom by some 2-3 incher, but anything is possible under certain conditions. trainman
  15. I do run our furnace when temps are going to drop below 28-30 degrees here in Texas. Normally our temps do not stay below freezing during the day, so the trailer is not subject to long freezing spells. I do set the thermostat at around 45 degrees and the 20 gal. bottle will last around 3-4 days if left on. We normally just plug in a small electric heater, but ours quit working and I just haven't got around to getting another one yet, but it's next on the list. Our trailer at home is plugged in all the time, so using the extra heater makes the most sense. trainman
  16. I think many RV owners expect our RV to operate to our home standards, but they do not, never have and probably never will, trainman
  17. So I got a reply from Anderson this morning, very fast reply and they said that my replacement was in shipping to be shipped. Very fast service for a warranty replacement. I did send them the pics and receipt for my original purchase which you have to include on your warranty replacement request, which I did. It looks like I have to pay the $13.75 shipping charges, but they haven't ask for it yet, but I'm sure they will, that's the way things work these days. Pics of broken leveler. trainman
  18. I did submit my claim after closing hours last night, so I will see it they respond by Monday, if not, I will give them a call. trainman
  19. I found my receipt for the Anderson Levelers, got online with Anderson and sent them the pics of the receipt and the broken leveler. I purchased the levelers from Walmart online and they were shipped to me direct from Anderson, I have the shipping box they came in and the shipping label tells the story. Now I'm waiting to hear from them. trainman
  20. I have a broken Anderson Leveler (the red ones) and it has a crack in it cross ways. I was going to check with Anderson, but the company says I need a purchase receipt to get a replacement, of course I don't still have it. So am I out of luck. Any ideas of what to do as far as a replacement. This is the second one that has cracked, I am using them correctly and do not run up or off then incorrectly, that is I just roll up and then back off the correct way. I may go with something else, as this is getting expensive for no more then they get used, I may just build them out of wood, the ones I have at home that I use there are some 40 years old and work great. Any ideas from you out there. trainman
  21. Thank goodness I have never used that water fill feature on our Elite II, we don't Boondock so this is probably why I never had to deal with the valves under the bed section. Dealing with the fresh water tank drain valve is problem enough. trainman
  22. Thanks John, I didn't know that the other detector is also a propane detector, your pics and detail reply where what I needed, thanks, trainman
  23. I wanted to tell what finally happened to my water heater not working of LP. Working with Jason and them sending me replacement parts did not repair the problem, yes I was offered to take the trailer to a repair facility here in Ft. Worth, Texas, but opted to take a trip to Oliver and let them checkout the problem, we were ok with that as we would enjoy a trip that way again and we still had hot water with the electric mode. Upon Oliver inspection of the problem which took them about 15 minuets to repair the wiring harness in the upper rear storage space above the TV, a wire under the trim panel had come loose (or was never tighten probably) and just had to be reattached. All being said I'm glad I didn't take it to a local repair facility as they probably would have destroyed the trailer trying to find the disconnect wire, as they have no idea how Oliver's are put together, much less seen one before. trainman
