  1. I guess that one will get more interest than this one. https://www.autoblog.com/2017/09/07/tesla-pickup-truck-rendered/
  2. You can read up on this one. Midland WR-120 NOAA Public Alert-Certified Weather Radio with SAME, Trilingual Display, and Alarm Clock On Amazon, it has 2000 reviews and 4.25 out of 5 stars It comes with an AC cord, but that knocks it down to 9vdc and takes 3AA as backup, so you can certainly retrofit it to work in trailer and it's only <$30 everywhere. It does civil alerts too, so that probably includes fires and is rated for 93% of the country.
  3. With it winterized, the water heater is bypassed, do not remove the bypass until you actually need to, until you are ready to actually use it on a trip. It's clean it's dry there's no need. With how much water the fresh tank retains upon emptying, one rinsing will leave a bit of pink stuff, although diluted, and the one thing that has always stuck with me was being warned about getting it in the water heater. So get as many drains/flushes and flushing all the other sections, to dilute it even more and maybe again before putting it back into the water heater. That includes bleaching the system too, before the water heater. The warning was for how bad it will smell.
  4. I would have to say that the only thing that makes 200 an anomaly, is the bathroom door cracking. I think everything else has been experienced by others on here. I would guess Reed's was just one of the ones manufactured at the height of all the factory changes, personnel, locations, processes. I think they probably would have been better off to have taken a 30-60 day hiatus, rather than try to keep up with production. That coupled with the fact that Reed, as he says, is a sharer of information seems to highlight it all. Otherwise, a lot of the issues are with parts that all RVs use, bad jacks, bad water pumps, noisy AC, etc... The only real Oliver quality issues I remember are stripped screws (not the drawers) and behind the scenes cleanliness, oh and that ground issue, but that seems more of a design error as they were all pretty much built the same. The same can be said about the water tank, this has been ongoing since they first unit in 2008 and everyone lived and dealt with it, until someone didn't, and voiced it and "outside the box" thinkers came up with a solution, which Oliver has now adopted as standard practice. The only "real" problem with the drawers is that Oliver doesn't have a locking mechanism, the old style slide didn't need one, the new style slide is an "upgrade" for both soft close and visually, I installed them for years in high-end kitchens, airstream also uses them and their forums are full of strap, bungee and pillows talk of holding them closed too. The screws that come with them are not "incorrect" they are the screws that come with them, it's the application that's incorrect and has to be modified to work correctly, ie: locks. Anyone reading this forum, who decides not buy an Oliver because of it, would be someone who is only skimming it and not doing thorough research, in most of Reed's post he still emphasises that it is the best trailer he's owned and has no regrets. I would also like to know what trailer they finally decide on, based on what the forums said, I never found one that was built better or I would have bought it instead. For those that "walked away" seriously what fantasy land must they live in, I think I remember the mention of one and even then reading it thinking it was someone who was caught up in the "WOW" of things and wasn't a serious camper/RV'er, waking away from a $60K purchase because of a couple small issues. Okay, that might be a little more than $.02, but I'm get tired of the hyperbole and sky is falling doom, "I don't like the way the wires are run, so it's a piece of crap" B.S.
  5. You wax the interior? Hmmm... Never thought of that, I mean I wash and clean it all, but waxing it.... Benefits? Anything not temperature sensitive, stays and lives in the trailer, that way I don't forget to put it back in.
  6. They do make a nice hitch, I didn't need the scale, but they were one of the only ones I found that make a 3"
  7. As for the weep holes, when I returned from the dusty desert, I removed all the windows (sliding part) screens and black track parts to completely clean the tracks and weep holes, I was amazed at how much crud/sand/silt they held. It all comes out pretty easily.
  8. If it's coming in at the top of the window then I would be concerned about above the window and between the hulls. Awning mounts and the AC shroud, with how much wind you've talked about and your securing methods, I wonder if the mounts are compromised at all. Also if it can't can't all run out the inside of the windows it will flow around the frame and gravity says it goes in the below the bed compartments....
  9. Just an update, the Allstays app is no longer available on Android, people who already own it, can continue to use it but it will no longer update.
  10. When looking at those large tanks, be sure you will travel enough to use the fuel in them. With the new biodiesel mixture, in most places 20%, Ford recommends not having it in the tank for more than 30 days. I keep about a 200 mile range in mine, unless I'm going on a long trip, then fill it. Depending where you are, look for straight up #2 diesel fuel, if you can find it.
  11. While not a trailer, it is the newest EarthRoamer and falls into the excessive category.
  12. When searching Buzzy's original checklist will now probably be listed as being done by Anonymous, he changed his login after that to his new Buzzy listing
  13. As Yvonne & Doug said, I saw a YouTube video years back of someone having the same problem, with the same cause, they actually had video of it happening and it was pretty comical.
  14. I too wanted to buy one truck, just like I wanted to buy one trailer, got the trailer right, missed on the truck. Started out with a GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L Max tow, after one year and one bad experience up in Canada, considered it a one year rental with the little money I lost on it. As ScubaRx points out with their progression, for long term worry free (thinking steep grades out west) this time I went over kill, with no regrets. Be it a 250 or 350, at maxed out elevations I prefer the power of the turbo diesel vs the largest naturally aspirated gas engine, I choose the 350 as the 250 payload was only 500-600lbs more than the 1/2 ton, and with the 8ft bed if I wanted to bring my KTM and all the goodies 3600lbs of payload should be sufficient. Ride quality is similar between the two. Getting the 8 foot bed allows for a 48 gallon tank, on the diesel towing that gets me over 600 miles on a tank. Good luck with you choices and welcome to the family.
  15. One of the best things, if your at any campgrounds that have picnic tables The Clam fits over standard 8ft tables, put one end against the far wall and it's like you have a dining hall or perfect location for an 8 person card game.
  16. Technically, if you are looking to use Apple TV and use the audio system for your sound and not actually use the TV (reception) part, then you can open up your search to include computer monitors that take HDMI inputs. However if you HAVE TO use a DC powered TV then your selection is extremely limited and none of the screens are very good from what I found when I was searching. I decided I was fine with an AC powered TV and now have a 40" Samsung UHD 4K 7000 series, that sits on the night stand, I got this TV because it can actually mount/fit to the bottom of the overhead area, needless to say, the picture is awesome.
  17. So long as you only want it to get you over the closed tailgate, that one will work well. But as John points out, the corner steps allow you to use it when the gate is open. Most trucks were made with mounting points so that you should be able to do a no drill installation, that is my criteria for anything, I hate doing holes in original equipment.
  18. Watch out for bridges.... Funny story.. we had a Huey go down in Philly, had to flatbed it back to base, route all planned scheduled transport for middle of the night, everything perfect until a bridge knocked it off the side of the truck, turns out they repaved the road didn't grind it down the same amount and didn't update height clearance as a result, all for 2 inches, pretty costly repair bill for the paving company
  19. Your iPhone should connect via Bluetooth and if you don't want the loss and clipping you can use a stereo cable and use it tethered. I never used the TV on its own, no antenna, so I can't help there. But I do use my phone with it.
  20. Don't you have a Nature's Head? Watcha doin with the black tank, inquiring minds want to know...
  21. My 2015 came with this fan, I don't think I've ever really closed it, right now it's pouring out and it's 3/4 open http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/maxxfan-deluxe-remote-control-rv-ventilator-system-white-lid/48933&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&scid=scplp48933&sc_intid=48933?utm_campaign=SC_Shopping_Low&affiliateid=6338&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj8KC5dyW1wIVEJBpCh2zNg8TEAQYBCABEgK1mfD_BwE
  22. Depending upon how "loaded" you ordered it, some of the IIs are around 5000lbs at which point you should be fine, as far as specs. Where you take it will decide whether you find it wanting for more power. Welcome to the family, here come the slowest few months while you wait. Try not to buy too much stuff before you actually find what you need...
  23. All I've done is blow out the lines, admittedly pretty extensively, and I don't use antifreeze (yuck). Two New England winters, not a problem yet, knock on wood.. Never realized the fresh tank didn't fully drain, and no problem, I agree with the space to expand being adequate.
  24. As John said, plugged in to a standard 15A circuit is fine, the Oliver electric system will keep them safe. Or, if you have solar, just leave it outside and your fine. If your choice is to disconnect, then that isn't as easy, there isn't a main switch, but you can get a battery terminal cutoff switch on Amazon, about $10, and install it to break the circuit.
