New Honda eu3200i Security Mount now available

SWEET set-up, Patriot!!! Very clean! ð -
YES it is possible for that, John... And that's exactly what I'll be doing next time. I'm going to weigh in at our local gravel yard scale next week - the owner insists that its +/- 25lbs accuracy.
-
@rideandfly: HA! That's really going to torque-off some would-be thieves!!! Good one, brother! Love it!!! ð ð

This is a preliminary CAT Scale weigh-out I got a week or so ago - but the configuration isn't exactly what I want for a baseline weight because I had about 30 gallons of fresh water onboard (6 gallon water heater tank full/30# LPG tanks full). Our Tundra is a 2WD/Crew/Short bed, BakFlip Topper. The 5920 value is Tundra weight with OTT attached, 11220 value is total rig weight... We're planning to get an accurate baseline weight later this week and using a dedicated tongue weight scale to get a direct value...FYI

Rough Ride Tolerance? New Ranger?
MAX Burner replied to Wandering Sagebrush's topic in Towing an Oliver
True statement! You'll not need to be concerned about reaching your TV's max load capacity with the 1-ton, unless you bring a bike along.... -
We thought it would be interesting hearing general information about TUNDRA/Oliver experiences... Stuff like tire selection, rear air suspension bags, bed covers, performance data while OTT towing, hitch selection, etc., would be good to share. So, here's some performance data on a recent Ollie adventure: We drove using the tow/haul mode (which increases RPMs in our truck by approximately 2k), A/C on in "Auto", and cruise control set at 65mph. Our starting elevation was 5,550' MSL - while ending elevation was Sea Level. Our pack-plan used roughly 80% of our available useful load. Our trip was 1,435 miles R/T and our mileage on the outbound leg was 13.4mpg - inbound leg dropped mileage to 12.6mpg (likely due to head-winds and elevation gain). Our truck averages just north of 22mpg on the interstate when not towing, FYI. We relied on the mpg readout - but also calculated total mileage manually and calculated 12.9mph (111.2 gallons regular fuel used over 1,435 miles). I didn't get a chance to weigh the ensemble, but will do so next time.

Sure looks like everyone had a real blast at the rally - we hope to join y'all next year, for sure... ð

We can see the pic of the Red Truck - the one above it is blank...???

safe ride home!

Definitely a "non-trivial" installation to get everything just right. E.g., correct cabling, safe/effective mounting, adequate ventilation (3kw inverters generate HEAT), etc. It's more than, "how to wire an inverter", IMO.
-
Absolutely, right on @SeaDawg! We've still got a few years left of doing our own "Wax-On/Wax-Off" drill before we hire someone else to do it for us... We believe it's got to be done in either case to avoid the oxidation/chalking of the gelcoat - one way or another, we'll get 'er done!

Awesome post @Katjo - I'm particularly impressed with the side doors and the expanded metal floor inside the doghouse.... Great additional storage for lighter/non-bulky items, brilliant!

Enclosed Aluminum Box Front Mount

We used a standard metal cutting drill bit, measured (3 or 4 times) and predrilled holes in box, positioned it exactly in place, "Sharpie-marked" through the predrilled holes to the fiberglass pre-fixed with 3M Blue Painters tape. Spring-punched the marks, pre-drilled through fiberglass on a rather slow speed and light pressure on the drill motor, then drilled through the aluminum frame. Final-drilled all holes - filled holes with clear silicon caulk; mounted box and applied a final bead of clear caulk around all edges. It feels like a very solid fit...FYI. -
New app to find camping sites, from the folks at Harvest Host
MAX Burner replied to SeaDawg's topic in Campgrounds & Parks
We've been using Harvest Host for years - but the annual fees are a drag. We used H2 on our return leg from a recent trip to Mexico last weekend - an awesome Vinyard in Wilcox, AZ: "Pillsbury Vinyards". Literally camped with the vines! HA! @SeaDawg: We'll be giving this new app a shot also - thanks for the great post information! -

@Katjo: Here's the link: ARKSEN 29 Inch Aluminum Diamond Plate Tongue Box Tool Chest, Waterproof Under Truck Storage for Pick Up Truck Bed, RV Trailer, ATV with Lock and Keys - Silver -
@Mark Meadows: Thanks, Mark - no worries! We made it back as scheduled after having a great time at Rocky Point. The Playa Bonita RV Park was probably 80-90% full capacity and we were lucky to have been assigned the last "on the beach" site. The 64 mile run from the border town of Sonoyta to Rocky Point was on very good roads and our "caravan" made it easily without hassle. We made reservations for next year before leaving.

Enclosed Aluminum Box Front Mount

Just about finished installing the cargo box we ordered from Amazon. FYI: Used 6 each, 1 1/4" self-tapping screws with lock washers over a 1/8" x 2" x 18" aluminum band across the back (port/stbd) to distribute the load. Used a shorter 8" piece (fore/aft) in the center. A single screw with a fender washer was used for the forward-most position over the A-frame where a spacer was used under the box. We're using the box to secure items such as OTT 30A Furrion power cord & adapters, surge protector, fresh water hose/filter, plastic "Leggo" blocks, wheel chocks, torque wrench, Magnus' cable lanyard, and there's room left over. Thanks to @John E Davies, @ScubaRx, @Ollie-Haus and others for their suggestions and recommendations... We also think this idea will be a game changer for better access to items needed for set-up. Beats the "deep knee squat - bending over drill" to pull boxes out of the rear storage compartment! HA! IMG_7354.HEIC IMG_7353.HEIC -
100% Concur, definitely need OTT Caravans! Let's make 'em happen.... Funny story: We were passing through Durango, CO a few weeks ago. Stop/go traffic, etc., at one of the stops a dude next to us is yelling, "what kind of rig is that?". We give them the 25 second answer to his question - he and his lady respond with: "We want one!".... Can you imagine an Oliver caravan through some of these towns? It would be impressive, IMO...

We carry the same - pre-grease packed in ziplock bags, ready to install on the side of the road....
