  1. @John Dorrer - John; that's correct. You'll need to examine your Dexter D35 axles and determine if you've got 2-1/2" or the 3" diameter units. I believe most Olivers were initially configured with the 3" diameter D35's, but Dexter makes both sizes. Lew or Mike at Alcan will sell you the appropriate U-bolts for your axles with your leaf spring order. Note that U-bolts are a one-time use item, so you shouldn't re-use your current U-bolts/nuts/washers. Also, the new Alcan-made U-bolt kits arrive unpainted, it would be a good time to clean off the machining oil and hit them with a good oil-based product such as Rust-Oleum to slow down the accumulation of oxidation on them. Plus, it will make those nice Alcan 5-packs and running gear look "all new and shiny." Keep us posted on your upgrade efforts! Cheers!
  2. We're on that same train, John!
  3. Just as an interrogative comment and question on the subject: New OTT owners may still have spring issues with 2024 model year and forward rigs even though the new OEM axles are D52s. When we replaced our axles last May at Hohenwald, I noticed that our D52s were configured from Dexter with 1,750# 4-pack leaf springs. Since we had already installed Alcan 5-packs a few weeks prior, the OEM Dexter 4-packs were not used and stayed in TN after our D52/Alcan installation. @rideandfly - Bill, y'all seem fortunate to have your #75 rig come with the LE configuration running gear (D52s plus Dexter 5-packs)... It's my understanding that there has yet to be a reported any 5-pack spring failures. My question is, why doesn't the factory order the same axle set configuration for both the LE and LE2? Wouldn't this simplify supply from Dexter, inventory stocking, removing possible installation errors (as with 5k#/7.5k# Bulldog couplers), and ultimately do away with the 1,750# 4-packs which have a history of failing?
  4. Gotta love the "Fall Colors" in the Rockies! Great snapshot, @Patriot!
  5. Bummer, for sure. But you can still consider retro-fitting some heavier 5-pack springs for your running gear, IMO.
  6. Thanks for posting such great pix, Mike! Ouray, "The Little Switzerland of the Rockies", that place never gets old! We've stayed in Ridgeway many times and love the scenery - be sure to drop into Telluride and have lunch at "Brown Dog Pizza", it shouldn't disappoint! Enjoy!
  7. Mine's wired exactly as the illustration you've posted... My negative bus bar is within 6 - 8" from the Orion and with a common ground between TV and TT, FYI.
  8. Just curious, what's your SOC when you're reading 11-15amps? Your 50amp Victron charger may only allow lower charging amp at higher SOCs. FYI, we're getting 25-28amps with SOCs below 70% on the road. As the SOC increases we're seeing 10-15amps (our's is a 30amp charger unit).
  9. We're definitely considering the Lynx PD unit as well for when we drop the hammer on upgrading to the MPII - its a very clean option as compared to our Blue Seas bus bar, IMO.
  10. @jdmmtx ; If you're still in need of replacement leaf springs, you're welcome to have my OEM 4-leaf springs - no longer needed because we replaced them last April using the Alcan 5-leaf spring packs that @Steph and Dud B mentioned above. Shoot me a PM with a shipping address and cover the shipping costs... You can have 1 or all 4 of the springs. They are in serviceable condition. Cheers, Art
  11. @rideadeuce - Hey, Mike - are those a couple of airedales you have there? I used to have a female that looked just like them! You're right @jd1923, the DC/DC charger really makes the battery package work for us, BTW. Gone are the days of having our AS with 4 heavy AGMs!
  12. Not sure what Jason's comments meant regarding new Dexter axles not fitting on @Wayfinder's hull....??? @ScubaRx's hull #050, as well as our #226 retro-fitted the D52's w/12" drums and Alcan 5-leaf spring packs - both are config'd with the EZ-Flex system. We'll be interested in hearing the back story....
  13. Our 3 x BB's are a perfect AH storage capacity for our style of camping/boondocking, FYI. But when it comes to AH's, "MO is BETTA", IMO. Frankly, I don't know what I'd do with another 300AHs! Keep the AC running for the Knuckleheads when we're away, I suppose! HA!
  14. @jd1923: Very clean mod, brother! Nicely done - BRAVO ZULU!
  15. The MaxxFan Plus with the LED light really makes for a superior lighting configuration in the head with the factory OTT LED lighting package, FYI. Should be another standard module from the Mothership, IMO.
  16. Same here, Mike.... love the "auto" mode on just about anything - so long as it works correctly. HA!
  17. Awesome looking rig - inside and out! Thanks for posting some great pix of your new set-up... Now get out there on the road and send more - we love pix on the forums! Hope to meet y'all down the road sometime. Congrats!
  18. @Boudicca908: While you've got the cubby insert removed and have inspected that "great space" under the sink - try considering replacing the insert with one of these and adding a shelf to store toiletries and stuff: Gives you ready access to all that great space below the vanity sink... Just say'n... Cheers!
  19. If you're planning to stay at "Camp Oliver" just outside the perimeter fence at the factory, site #3 is a good one if available.... Enjoy your time there - be sure to get some "swag." Mid-MAY at the factory:
  20. @ZLarryb - if you still are not able to get grease into some of your wet bolts after trying @Ronbrink's suggestions, you may wish to consider removing those wet bolts that aren't behaving and check for correct grease journal orientation: 1. Carefully jack up the affected side 2. Use a floor jack under the closest axle to adjust its height to completely neutralize the load on the affected wet bolt 3. Stabilized the Zerk end of the wet bolt with a wrench and remove its nut. It's important to stabilize the wet bolt so its splines (on the Zerk end) do not strip-out in the hanger when you're un-tightening it. The splines are intended to keep the wet bolt in place such that the grease journal remains oriented either at the 3 or 9 o'clock position - this is the position of slightly less pressure which allows the grease to flow easier when trailer weight is on the wheels. 4. Tap the wet bolt partially out of the hanger with a brass punch - as the bolt slides out a bit more than half-way from the leaf spring hanger, look for the grease journal at the mid-point of the we bolt. It's a small hole allowing the grease to lubricate the brass (sometimes plastic) leaf spring bushing. Attach your LockNLube and give it a squirt - this will test the Zerk and remove old grease from the wet bolt. 5. Rotate the bolt until it's oriented at the 3 or 9 o'clock position. Clean the Zerk end of the bolt and mark it with white paint in line with the hole. This way you'll know during future lube jobs that the grease journal is oriented correctly or if the wet bolt rotated after you've corrected the issue. 6. Carefully tap the wet bolt back into place, stabilize the Zerk end and torque to specs (45 - 50 lb-feet) 7. Grease the Zerk Hope this helps.
  21. @jd1923 - We absolutely count on at least one feast daily; if there's others around we'll do an AM and PM food fest! HA!
  22. YES! We have one on both bikes - the knuckleheads love them!
  23. Final Travel Summary -- Day-18, Monday, 01JUL24: 2,424.4 Odometer miles, 12.7MPG (from Tundra computer). But actual consumed gallons from re-fueling receipts was 163.8 gallons or 14.8MPG. Not sure of the reason for the discrepancy. Anyhow: Moab, UT: We linked-up with our friends from NM last Thursday here at Spanish Trails campground for a weekend of sightseeing, hiking, and general frivolity... Our original plan was to tour Arches Nat'l Park on Friday, then hit Dead Horse SP and Canyonlands NP Saturday. But... there weren't any "timed entry reservations" available for us on Friday for Arches so we switched the plan for those two days. NOTE: For those of you planning to visit Arches - the NP Service is requiring visitors to obtain a $2 timed entry reservation online that assigns a 60-minute window for entry in addition to the park entry fee (or Senior/Military Lifetime NP Pass). Our timed reservation was for 9-10AM on Saturday. This keeps the traffic flow through the park manageable in both directions. It actually worked out real well - just we wish we knew about it in advance. So, onward to Deadhorse SP... Magnus wants mom to let him out so he can get out and go exploring - Oscar wanted to stay back at Casablanca: Magnus in his "explorer" mode: Deadhorse entry gate - beautiful weather for sightseeing with our friends: Very cool vistas here at Deadhorse: Twisty Colorado River below: Back at the Campground, the Knuckleheads and their buddy, Heinrich are re-united - do we plan around our puppies? Ah, YES! 2-legged and 4-legged friends loving to camp out together... Getting ready for dad to throw together some evening kibble for everyone: Noth'n wrong with a little "surf and turf": Fast forward to Arches NP: For our style of sightseeing - Arches was the favorite: Notice a puppy head out the window and a tail out the back: Just having a great time: Arches everywhere: Walking up to the Big Window: Under the arch: Just amazing sights here: Back in the Tundra and headed to Red Cliffs Lodge near Moab on the CO River, Knuckleheads sharing the cool AC from their puppy hammock in the back seat: Very cool place where dozens of westerns were produced - with an interesting museum capturing pix of many of the movies made there: Red cliffs above the CO River: We've driven by the "Hole in the Wall" dozens of times over the years on US-191, but on the way home, we took a few minutes and actually walked through the "Tour of the 5,000 sqft House" inside the rock! Got home safe and sound around 5pm - unpacked Casablanca and realized how nice it is to "come home." Cheers, All! A & D
