  1. I agree ! You can’t go wrong with Blue Sea!
  2. IMO… It’s so ugly a person would need to shave its behind and teach it to always drive backwards.
  3. Maybe I’ve just had bad luck, but I would delete a water heater entirely before going back to a tank style water heater. We had issues with the water reacting with the sacrificial anode that created h2s, so in the truck camper and the Airstream, we left the tanks drained and bypassed. For us, the Truma is a godsend.
  4. What? No extra red klister? 😇
  5. I’ve got spray silicone and paraffin, so looks like we’re in business. Thank you @John Dorrer and @topgun2!
  6. I noticed the post about the rusted stair rod end and washers, and while that’s not an issue for us, it seems to be more difficult to get them started to retract than when we purchased our Ollie. I was thinking about using paraffin or some other dry lubricant to “grease the skids”. Any suggestions?
  7. Hi Kathlyn, I must have missed your post while traveling last month. A belated welcome to you. We met a lady full timer while camping in Anza Borrego. She was in a 16’ Airstream Bambi, pulled by a Toyota Tacoma, had been on the road for a couple of years, and was very happy with the lifestyle. It sounds like you would do quite well as a full time RVer.
  8. Bill, I have the DeWalt compressor in my yellow tool collection, but it’s not one I want to depend on for a large job. That said, it’s handy and good at the smaller jobs.
  9. Thanks for the reminders! Like you, I have a box on the back that needs to slide out to access the spare, and my Michelins are now 6 years old. It’s time for new shoes.
  10. We use the same compressor, minus a few of the attachments. It appears to have gone up in price, but IMO, it’s worth the expense.
  11. I recommend the widest and tallest door you can get, you never know what you might want to park in there.
  12. Looks interesting and nice. How will you protect it from weather?
  13. I didn’t know Oliver kept a build sheet. This is great information, thank you. I hope the practice continues.
  14. I am old enough to remember strings of Christmas lights that were wired in series, and changing each bulb in an effort to find the one that burned out.
  15. There are times when the simplest solution is far better than the elegant solution, and I think this is one of them. Nothing wrong with being a retro grouch in the dark ages. My only frustration with the manual awnings is when I don’t pay attention to which way the support leg guide goes when stowing the leg back in the cover.
  16. Important point!
  17. BLUSH!!! I knew the frame needed to come out, but for some reason the screen didn’t want to move (there was a lot of sand and dust from our DVNP dust storm), but a few gentle taps with a ball peen hammer freed it up. The glass is even still intact. Thank you!
  18. RV water systems are well known for fun little issues like this. I have a suspicion that you have air trapped in one of your lines. You might try “burping” each of the faucets several times while the pump continues to run. Don’t forget the outside shower. We don’t see the lower pressure, but the pump continuing to run occasionally happens to us after daily travel. Using a faucet after the pump is turned off may be a culprit, too. Hope this helps…
  19. I didn’t find anything in threads about removing window screens, I thought I’d ask before breaking anything. Any guidance on the secret handshake of screen removal?
  20. We are with the folks that recommended not doing this, in particular if you don’t have a composting toilet.
  21. A bit late to the party… I have and will be using a Porter Cable random orbital polisher from the CDory days.
  22. I had breakfast with Chukarhunter (Steve) this morning 😊
  23. @rich.dev, thank you! I had not seen photos of the 2024 model.
  24. Our Ollie has an aluminum panel replacing the lower screen. After replacing the screen several times, the previous owners tired of the wash, rinse and repeat cycle. Like us, they have a high prey drive pointing dog. On our old Airstream that came with a see through pet barrier, I added an easy to remove bar that kept the door from being pushed open by the wildhair. I should probably do the same for the Ollie.
  25. Our bumper box is welded to aluminum tubes that fit into the original receivers that Oliver installed for adding a bike mount. We limit the load to under 100 pounds.
