Jack & Trish Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 We picked our trailer up on 12/19. We opted for the storage cabinet rather than microwave. The plan was for a toaster oven but none that I wanted would fit so we made a bar out of it. I love it! Here is a picture. 4 1 Trish & Jack

Moderators SeaDawg Posted January 22, 2018 Author Moderators Posted January 22, 2018 So, great news. Our Truckfridge tf130 is shipping today. Now, we really have to get around to s decision on microwave/ no microwave. Once we remove the microwave braces/ threaded rod/ etc, it's not really " no going back," but it does become a little more difficult later. We're adding insulation to the fridge cabinet, and though we will save/archive the microwave install pieces, it would mean pulling the fridge to change a cabinet to a microwave. I'm still happy with a cabinet, vs microwave that I will never use. Cheaper alternative is, yup, another unused microwave... Looking forward to seeing my new 12v compressor fridge in a week or so! Moderators SeaDawg Posted January 25, 2018 Author Moderators Posted January 25, 2018 Randy, it is much more affordable than the marine version of the Indel/ Isotherm. The customer service rep explained to me that as a land-based fridge, it doesn't have to obtain coast guard approval, so that's a big part of the cost difference. Some pieces are not stainless that are stainless on some of the Indel marine versions. the door isn't reversible, and no choice of swing. But, it looks like you could change out the front panel to another color if you liked something other than basic black, their only option. I'm ok with all the above, at a reasonable price and flat rate of $100 shipping. Most important to me, it says Indel on the door, has the compressor I want, and a 2 year warranty on everything important. We'll see how it works out. Moderators SeaDawg Posted February 26, 2018 Author Moderators Posted February 26, 2018 So, I've kind of mixed up the threads on the cabinet and new fridge, but, they were done at the same time... We opted to forgo the complete cabinet inset box to gain more space. Paul epoxied some strips into the sides of the cavity after squaring up the odd shaped face of the opening. The nailing strips are just thick enough to protect the wiring runs and conduits running down the sides of the cavity. He made templates, and cut scrap 1/2 inch play to fit each side, then fastened them to the epoxied strips with stainless screws. We trimmed the raw fiberglass edges with truloc 3/8 grip edge, one side grip, automotive PVC trim in black. I painted the plywood sides, and fiberglass hull top, back, and floor with two coats of white enamel. Finished the floor with some scrap Ikea heavy drawer and shelf liner. Paul ran a 12v wire into the top of the cavity from the upper cabinet, and installed a switched led light in the area. I love that! We had one left over from a project on the boat last year. Finally, he installed the bottom lip face, a cutdown Ikea high gloss white drawer front. Then, attached the Ikea swing up hinges to the 12 x 24 drawer front and the plywood cabinet sides. We adjusted the hinges to be quite stiff, but hopefully that will keep them closed as we travel. An Ikea Blankett linear pull on the 12 x 24 door breaks up the big expanse of white, and matches the new drawer beneath the fridge. We more than tripled the storage of the interior of the old microwave... I used the microwave to store paper plates, aluminum pans, and a few odd items. I think I have about 2.5 to 2.75 cubic feet of storage now in the old microwave cavity. Moderators SeaDawg Posted September 16, 2018 Author Moderators Posted September 16, 2018 This trip, I bought an extendable wire shelf on legs at Walmart for $8, and put it across the back of the big microwave cabinet. Under the shelf, I stored cans and jars. Bread and pastry boxes on top. Taller, and some shorter daily use items in front. I was able to stow dry goods for more than two weeks in this new space. For the first time ever, I have some empty overhead cabinet space. Now, Paul can have the entire big space over the bed for his clothes in packing cubes, instead of having to share it with cereal boxes and crackers.? The lip at the bottom keeps items contained while traveling, and I can swing the door up without removing the few items on the board... medicines, phones, power brick, coffee cup, etc Still haven't figured out what to put in the drawer beneath the fridge yet. But. That's a nice problem to have. Sherry 1 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. DC compressor fridge. Roadrunner Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 This is the option from Oliver for the no microwave and cabinet instead on Hull 364 delivered in July. There is a cable fitting on the top of the cabinet and a chord could be run from the microwave replacement cabinet to the upper cabinet that has an outlet. 1 1 Roadrunner Legacy Elite II Hull # TB, / TV :White 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty Platinum

Ray and Susan Huff Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 I see, now. The outlet is in the upper cabinet. It would be nice if Oliver would put the finished cord access hole in the microwave deleted cabinet. Does anyone know if this outlet run through the inverter? It may not have been wired as such since it was intended for a microwave. 1 Ray and Susan Huff Elite II Twin "Pearl" - Hull#699; delivered December 7, 2020 2013 F350 6.7l diesel Super Duty 4x4 long bed crew cab 1UP-USA Heavy-duty bike rack 2017 Leisure Travel Van Unity Twin Bed (sold)

Raspy Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Some of you have seen this mod I did on the microwave cabinet, but i thought I'd post it again in this thread. It was prompted by the microwave trying to escape from the cabinet several times. And the need for more function. I was able to keep a smaller microwave, and include a wine rack and utensil storage tubes. A pantry latch holds the door closed and the door also serves as a stainless work counter. We had an extra set of wood trim pieces that made a matching door. 5 John "I only exaggerate enough to compensate for being taken with a grain of salt." LE2 #92 (sold), Black Series HQ19
Ray and Susan Huff Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 A couple of questions for those with the most recent "microwave deletion cabinet": 1. What are the dimensions of the opening and the inside of the cabinet. Dimensions mentioned earlier are for the older cabinet. 2. Does the cable port to access the outlet in the upper cabinet come installed? Why doesn't Oliver just move the outlet to the lower cabinet so it can be used? I really want to use this space for our Breville Mini Smart oven (15.75"w x 8.5"h x 12.25"d - including the safety bumpers). I don't want to cut off the safety bumpers, as mentioned by Overland in a prior comment. We use our oven at home, so want the bumpers to protect the wall. They also provide a way to store the power cord. For this to work, the cabinet would need to be approx 12.5" deep. Looking at the measurements on the floor plan and the gallery photo below, the opening should be sufficient. The depth looks pretty darn close, but I don't know is there is an inner lining that makes the cavity much smaller than the outside. I wish the opening could be flush with the counter top (no lip) with the counter extending into the cabinet. 1 Ray and Susan Huff Elite II Twin "Pearl" - Hull#699; delivered December 7, 2020 2013 F350 6.7l diesel Super Duty 4x4 long bed crew cab 1UP-USA Heavy-duty bike rack 2017 Leisure Travel Van Unity Twin Bed (sold)

Moderators SeaDawg Posted June 11, 2020 Author Moderators Posted June 11, 2020 Yes, it's deep enough for most shoes and slippers, but not boots. I've thought about lining the drawer with a small thin boot tray with a rim. As of yet, it only holds a small broom and dustpan, and a swiffer type duster. 1 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. We definitely have gotten more use out of the oven than we would have the microwave. I don't know how your microwave was wired, but ours just has a 120 in the cabinet above and a hole to run a cord through. I can measure the exact size of the door Oliver installs if you want. When you get the option from them, they build a cabinet inside that isn't much larger than the door. In fact, it's smaller than they told us it would be which means we got stuck with a larger oven than will fit. In fact, if someone is considering the factory option, know that I was actually given one set of dimensions early on, which was different from what's listed on the measurement pdf, which was different from what I overheard Heather telling a customer on the phone while I was picking up our trailer, which was different from what was actually in our trailer. So good luck, buyers! I had a factory tour and took precise measurements of the rough opening in Hope of installing the larger Breville. The rough opening before and after the convection oven is inserted is: 21l” wide, 15” tall, 17” deep. Hope this helps. 1 1

Our Breville Mini Smart oven fits in the 2021 optional microwave deleted cabinet, with room to spare. Not relevant for 2022 and beyond models since Oliver has discontinued the microwave deletion option. Maybe they will bring it back if and when production returns to pre-Covid rates. Having the extra storage cupboard is nice; we use it much more than we ever use an RV microwave. 3 Ray and Susan Huff Elite II Twin "Pearl" - Hull#699; delivered December 7, 2020 2013 F350 6.7l diesel Super Duty 4x4 long bed crew cab 1UP-USA Heavy-duty bike rack 2017 Leisure Travel Van Unity Twin Bed (sold)

Moderators SeaDawg Posted September 14, 2021 Author Moderators Posted September 14, 2021 John, it looks very nice. How do you hold down the oven when traveling, or is the lip enough? I ask, because our original microwave tried to jump out of the cavity on a long, steep windy road. It was prevented from committing suicide though, because of the threaded rod holding it down. 1 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. John C Marsh Jr Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Sea dog, the lip. About 1.5” or so, seems to be plenty enough to keep the oven in place. Love the Breville, have the same unit at home. 2
Jim_Oker Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 C Quote It's cool to see all the variations of using this space. We opted for the microwave/convection option though I'm not sure how much we'll use it for anything but microwaving leftovers which we do fairly often. One thing worth mentioning is that we are still able to use the space for storage! We put things in bags inside the oven - dog food for instance. Stuff that's easy to shuffle out and back when we want to actually heat something in there. It's a good dual use space for us that way.
