Moderators SeaDawg Posted September 16, 2022 Moderators Share Posted September 16, 2022 Fritz, that lone tree and the big Carolina deep blue sky is amazing. Thanks. BBL
On 7/26/2022 at 6:20 PM, Mike and Carol said: We camped at State Forest State Park, Colorado a couple of weeks ago. It’s the largest state park in Colorado with multiple campgrounds and lots of dispersed sites. It’s just north of Rocky Mountain National Park and east of Steamboat Springs, so all the sites are at elevation. There is one campground that has 30a electric hookups, we didn’t see it so can’t comment. Our site was at 9,100’ and except for one night of torrential rain the weather was great, highs in the upper 70s and lows in the high 30s. All propane appliances worked as they should (furnace, hot water tank, cook top and Weber grill). State Forest State Park is in Routt National Forest. This is about 20 miles from our campsite. This is in Bockman campground. 9,100+ feet elevation. Dry camping but there were a couple of well maintained vault toilets. The Weber fired right up despite the elevation. Steaks in the Rockies can’t be beat. Orvis flannel required. This lake (can’t remember the name) was just a few miles from our site. There were a dozen or so camping sites around the lake, well spaced. I wish I would have done more research as they looked very nice. Still a little snow up there. Carol got good use of her flannel as well. Beats south Texas summer heat!! Mike and Carol, We live in TN but love CO. My wife and I met in Ouray on a 4x4 expedition. We have driven pretty much every major trail in that area and look to go back with the Oliver (as soon as we get it) and do some more high-altitude camping. Very nice pictures, keep it up. Safe travels! Brian
Moderators Mike and Carol Posted September 17, 2022 Author Moderators Share Posted September 17, 2022 Hey Brian, with our son and family in Durango we have a strong pull to Colorado in addition to the mountains, weather and scenery! We also like Tennessee and will be camping there next month. Ouray is quite a place…. BBL
Mike - yes it is! We especially like the Ouray Brewery. Where are you going in TN? If you are up near LBL (Land Between the Lakes), let me know. We are about 10 miles from Paris Landing State Park and really enjoy LBL. The have a drive-through Bison and Elk preserve which is amazing. Also, plenty of NFS and COE camping. Safe Travels. Brian
Moderators Mike and Carol Posted October 4, 2022 Author Moderators Share Posted October 4, 2022 We’re heading north to Kansas City for a few days before we head to Tennessee. First stop on our escape from Texas is a nice COE campground near Gordonville on Lake Texoma, Juniper Point Campground. Nice concrete pads on the lake. Very pleasant overnight stay on our way north! 11 Texas Hill Country | 2016 Elite II #135 | 2020 Ram 2500 6.7L
rideandfly
Here’s our favorite campsite at COE Bandit’s Roost campground Wilkesboro, NC, site # 28. This site is hard to get, someone must have canceled, allowing us to camp on it earlier this week. It’s been 70’s during the day and upper 40’s at night. The Blue Ridge Parkway is not too far away for a day drive, too. 🙂 Blue Ridge Parkway NC 12 2015 LE2 #75 / 2024 F-150/5.0L

Moderators topgun2 Posted October 11, 2022 Moderators Share Posted October 11, 2022 I really liked Hungry Mother when I stayed there a few years ago. If you've never done it are are a car/racing person at all then a short trip over to the Bristol Motor Speedway and a tour is very interesting and not very expensive. Moderators Mike and Carol Posted December 15, 2022 Author Moderators Share Posted December 15, 2022 We spent part of this past October in Cumberland Mountain State Park, just outside of Crossville, TN. There are 5 camping areas, we started in area 4 but moved to area 5 after one night. Area 5 is at the top of the hill and is a newer area. There are 4 or 5 FHU sites in area 5. We had W/E. Our site in area 4. Older, lots of trees and shade. Our site in area 5. Nicely spaced with a view of the sky! Campground chef. Moderators Mike and Carol Posted May 15, 2023 Author Moderators Share Posted May 15, 2023 On our way to the rally. We stopped overnight at Rocky Creek COE Campground near Burton, TX. It’s on Somerville Lake, typical COE campground. Sites are nicely spaced. It seems to be popular with boaters, there is a ramp and parking at most sites for a boat and trailer. 4 Texas Hill Country | 2016 Elite II #135 | 2020 Ram 2500 6.7L

Ron and Phyllis
Last weekend we went to Art in the Park at Blowing Rock NC as we do every year, but normally it was in May, June, or October in our Aliner pop-up at Julian Price CG on the BRP. This time we decided to try July in our almost 1yr old Elite I (Hull #1209). We caught the peak of the Catawba Rhododendron bloom. We were in the clouds, a good bit of the time but 10-15 degrees cooler than the 90 degrees when we left home in East TN just 90mi, a couple or hours away. 7

BBL
We camped at Redstone Arsenal this past week to attend the Huntsville Hamfest. Redstone is an Army facility with over 140 spaces. They are all 24 feet wide by 45' deep with W/S/E(50/30/20). Spent several days in the area and one day "geeking out" at the Hamfest. It's only $25 per night flat rate but you have to be active duty, retired, 100% disabled, etc. to use it.
