MAX Burner Posted February 13 Posted February 13 So... for those of you with "older" OTTs and want to know to what level your gelcoat has oxidized, try this: Take off the Oliver Logo and find out! Which is exactly what we did this afternoon - a couple plastic razor blades, a heat-gun, some "Goof-Off", and a little elbow grease and about 45 minutes later: The new graphic is from the movie credits - we've been to many of the places on the map and thought it fit our lifestyle... The graphic is held in place temporarily with painters tape and will be fixed permanently after we have CGI do their magic in Fredericksburg during the eclipse rally. Yellowing was apparent but not as bad as expected. Until the rally in April, we'll be using the same 3M anti-oxidizer that CGI uses to blend in the gelcoat with the Cyclo and bring it back to life. Piece of cake... Cheers, all! 1 5 Art, Diane, Magnus & Oscar (double-Aaarrf!) 2022 TUNDRA 2017 LE II; Hull #226 "Casablanca" HAM call-sign: W0ABX

Patriot Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Those chain sleeves really clean up the appearance of the Andersen chains as well. I had the Ollie Andersen WDH on my when towing with my former Tundra and like the sleeves well they looked sano!👍🏻😊 Just a thought Max! 2020 OLEII - Hull #634 aka- “XPLOR” TV 2021 F350 6.7 liter Diesel Lariat Ultimate Tremor Retro upgrades - Truma Aventa 13.5 AC, Alcan 5 leaf pack, Alcan HD shackles & HD wet bolts, 5200lb never lube axles. Additionally, after awhile the chains will start to rust in spots. With the sleeves you'll never even see the rust. Therefore out of sight, out of mind. You'll want the graphics on before they do the ceramic coating, else it won't stick. Plus, the ceramic coating over the graphics helps protect them. If you let them know ahead of time what you're doing, I'd imagine they would polish the top front first to give you time to apply the graphics before coating. 1 4 ----- Steve - Northern Ohio, USA Wandering around on occasion, always lost. 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser - 2023 Oliver Elite II Twin Hull #1360 “Curiosity” Facebook - Instagram Camped in Curiosity = Green —— Visited with Curiosity = Gray

Exactly right on, Steve. I spoke with Colin yesterday afternoon and he's saying the same thing. We're getting his recommended 3M gelcoat polishing compound today to cleanup some of the oxidation where the graphic will be placed before we get to TX. 1 Art, Diane, Magnus & Oscar (double-Aaarrf!) 2022 TUNDRA 2017 LE II; Hull #226 "Casablanca" HAM call-sign: W0ABX

And ""out of sight, out of mind" should not be taken literally. As with virtually all things these Andersen Chains should be inspected at least annually. With the woven sleeves mentioned, this is a fairly easy thing to do since they are normally held in place with one or two "zip ties". Each Spring I simply clip the zip ties on each end and push the sleeve back as far as possible looking for damaged places in the chain and hit it with a power washer. After it dries, the sleeves are rolled/pushed back into place and secured once again with a new zip tie. Geronimo John Posted February 16 Posted February 16 LOL, I was thinking of someone covering their safety chains. Since we see too often see other trailers with their chains sparking on the pavement.
