  1. Most likely the reason your gate valve is not closing completely is because the cable has slipped slightly where it attaches to the vertical slide on the valve. To fix it: loosen the set screw where the cable attaches to the gate valve slide, manually push the gate down to firmly seat it, push the cable handle completely in, tighten the set screw. This will re-adjust the blade where it is completely down when the cable is pushed completely in. Whenever you have to do this process, it is a good idea to lubricate the cable and the inside of the housing also. To lubricant the cable: while the set screw is loose, pull the outside handle to remove the entire cable from the housing. Wipe the cable with a clean rag along its entire length. As you re-insert the cable, spray with a lubricant such as silicone or WD-40. Work the cable back and forth a few times to distribute the lubricant. Tighten the set screw. This process will be a four-handed project. You will have to be inside to guide the cable back into the gate valve while someone outside is easing the handle into place.

  2. “Check your brake adjustment lady?” Easy access to those screw adjusters: An appalling look at the floor STRUCTURE, random widths of thin pine boards. There is a lot of rust on those frame rails, but I am surprised that they were painted at all: Full story, the trailer “started to sway and she lost control”: ... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5894941/amp/Washington-couple-wreck-tractor-trailer-20-minutes-purchase.html I still want to see pics of wrecked Olivers, but nobody has posted any. It’s nearly noon, we are parked at a Lake Wenachee State Park campground, waiting until we can check in to the nearby NW Overland Rally at 2:00 pm. I will post a few pics in a new thread, but I will have limited cell coverage. I do not expect to see many trailers like the one pictured in this thread. It’s a little breezy at the beach, with breaking waves and steady 20 mph winds. A very pretty spot when the wind dies down. It is not a lake that is friendly to paddlers. John Davies Spokane WA

  3. Thanks, Rumline. eventually, I'll add sjome photos and more campground reviews. Life sometimes gets in the way if intentions. Had to fly up to help my mom for awhile. Your photo is beautiful. I understand it's the minerals that turn some of these lakes into beautiful turquoise water. There are several in BC with similar colors...like the Caribbean, but a lake. I'll get back at it when I'm home again. Sherry

  4. The 3" black tank valve bypass problem will be my next project after another project I'm starting tomorrow. Always have a project in progress, would not have it any other way!!!!

  5. We used the Command double sided tape. Beside Amazon, you can find it at Walmart and Home Deport in a variety of sizes. Mike

  7. Thank you for posting all of these impressions. Probably my favorite day of an Alaska cruise several years ago was when my wife and I rented a Jeep in Skagway and drove up into the Yukon. We made it as far as Whitehorse, and did a bunch of off-highway driving. Saying that the scenery was beautiful is so insufficient. I would dearly love to get back there one day. This is somewhat indulgent of me to hijack your thread but I thought I'd share my favorite photo from that day. Emerald Lake, north of Carcross, in far from ideal lighting conditions:

  8. Bill, Our basement door will not close with tank valves open on hull #75. Our black tank Valterra 3" valve is bypassing a little when closed. Saw the electric valves when looking for repair parts the other day on the Valterra website, looks interesting. Going to repair Valterra 3" valve for now with parts found on Amazon. That's a nice looking valve Topgun2 found on Amazon!! https://www.barkermfg.com/auto-drains.html

  10. My door will close with the handles pulled. You can always install the electric valves and eliminate having to pull the handles at all.
