I want a shirt with an Ollie on it, and the words “No, it is NOT some kind of Casita.” I can’t count how many times that has been asked; eventually I decided to install the “Oliver Legacy Elite II” stickers onto the previously naked hull and that reduced the number of questions significantly. I once had a Bernese Mountain Dog and people always asked, “What is that, some kind of Saint Bernard cross?” I guess if you own unusual things, people will ask silly questions. Welding aluminum correctly by hand is very much an art. Your average trailer hitch shop cannot do it, a specialty company is usually the best place to have something like a personal project welded. Robotic machines are taking over in the larger factories like Aluma. In a shift they do the work of ten men, and with very repeatable high quality. I don’t know if Olivers will ever be machine welded, it would not be a bad thing, but their human welders do beautiful work, and as owners we should appreciate it and thank them. We took our unit to a local dealership, that we know and trust. An independent family owned dealership, 'Call of the Wild RV', in Oxford, Maine took care of our unit, inspected our axles for a potential recall, and billed the manufacturer direct. Smiles, handshakes and great service...doesn't get much better than that...

With the virus concerns normal Clorox might be in short supply, in some places. I was in a small hardware store today and noticed Clorox on the shelf. Of course I grabbed a bottle, as I wanted fresh to sanitize the water system for Spring wake-up in the Oliver. However there was an indication for caution. The brand label was right, but the background was slightly greener than normal. Also was an addition on the label saying NEW and and a saying "long-lasting fragrance". In SMALL PRINT, on the back, it clearly states, "Not for sanitation or disinfection. To sanitize and disinfect, use 'Clorox'® Regular -Bleach. The Regular will have a label on it stating 5.5% or 6% Sodium Hypocloride. If there is not a percent stated, or it list a fragrance probably not the one you want. Also have heard the splash proof one is also NOT the one you want. Also if you know how to read date codes, get the freshest you can find. Evidently as it gets older, it will start to degrade... Woo Hoo..we got a reservation today for Lily Bay State Park, on Moosehead Lake. Normally booked within hours of opening. Limited to instate residents, and those that have quarantined in state for 14 days. Not ideal, but a start...

They don't need a 60% MU, a 20% would more than cover cost. The value of branded merchandise, in building a brand, is so invaluable. Ever go to a trade show? All the vendors give away branded merchandise. Keys chains, little flashlights or tools that become daily brand reminders. Look what branded merchandise did for football teams, or car and truck logos. Ever see a green and yellow John Deere hat? Branded tee shirts, vest, hats and coffee cups, running around in almost every camping area in America, would be cheaper than any print ad that somebody might look at for 10 seconds. The merchandise would re-enforce us all as Brand Ambassador s... A branded vest would need a pocket on the inside for a pen and referral cards!

Forgot one other thing, if you are taking an extended trip and need an oil change, something breaks, winter tires need to be mounted and installed, etc.... you can stay in your trailer while that happens. Make sure you take a look at the underside of the trailer you look at and the weld quality on the frame. That's what sold me.

Ours has been outside, 247/365, for over 12 years. But, we use an expensive 3m marine paste wax, twice a year, to uv protect the gelcoat. Same wax we use on the 40 plus year old boat, which is too big to be stored undercover. Sherry

Yes, bleach does have an expiration date. http://blog.rjschinner.com/clorox-shelf-life-date-codes/ like many items, it starts to lose effectiveness depending on date, storage temps, etc. Old bleach is probably better than nothing, but its effectiveness is really only a guestimate.

John Davies is spot on regarding Oliver’s welders. When we did our factory tour one thing I looked at were the aluminum welds...I saw “stacked nickels”. If anyone knows anything about welding “stacked nickels” is a very high complement of beautiful welds. So Thank you to the welders at Oliver for fine work. -David

We pick up Hull #650 July 27th. I am getting a bid on a shed build so I hope to have it covered. We already have a friend store his 35' 5th wheel on our land so we may be accused of having a storage lot. The 5th wheel will be left out in the field while the Ollie will be treated like royalty. I have been asked if the 5th is ours and I always say no and they do not interest me at all. My reply will be quite difference when we get our Ollie.

This has been discussed, as you mentioned. We were definitely promised an Ollie Store two years ago. One member here very graciously sent me some new Oliver gear that he got at a rally. USPS lost it - the delivery person admitted to putting it in the wrong mailbox, but they were never able to find the package and I keep looking for some neighbor kid walking around in my Ollie hat and shirt. 😢 ... I had no purchase receipt since it was a gift, so USPS told me to bugger off. Hi WhatDa, We appreciate your thoughtful response, which mirrors much of our thinking, with some additional thoughts that hadn't occurred to us. Thank you! We are meeting ChuckStovall this Friday to see his LEII. He lives very close to us. Can't wait! We have owned enough rigs that we will know pretty quickly whether the Ollie is a good fit for us. And yes, I have done a lot of road biking in Colorado over the years, and still ride a Moots VaMoots. Thanks. Moots

We've had really good luck with some camping world service departments around the country, both with our Oliver, and the rvs that we've delivered to Alaska. Notably, the Campingworld in Port Richey, Fl, who worked on our old Oliver Dometic fridge under warranty, and Campingworld of Kansas City, which is actually in Grain Valley, MO. (A few others, honestly, were not so great.) I called CW Grain Valley from 40 miles away, and they squeezed us in late on a Friday afternoon, and had us in and out in 30 minutes on a backup camera issue in one of the delivery units. Really nice staff, too, and very clean waiting room. For warranty work on an Oliver, you can take your trailer to any qualified dealer. I second Whatda's recommendation of camping near Oliver for several days, and using /testing every system on your trailer at pickup. Sherry

We moved into a newly built house six months before buying “Mouse”.... we picked a small floor plan, 1850 sq ft on one level, and a big attached RV bay, 42’x16’x16’ tall. It is insulated and sheet rocked with four south facing windows up high. Cost for the bay was $30,000, but that option also got us a fully insulated and sheet rocked garage. Covered secure RV storage is about $350 per month in this area. So in the 36 months since delivery we have “saved” $12,600, not counting the gas and miles on the truck we would have spent visiting the facility. Our small development has covenants that allows RV storage if out of sight. Out of the 24 homes, about ten have RV bays.... There is a 120 volt 30 amp power socket inside the bay on the proper side, but no dump station. City code simply will not allow it. We live about 100 feet from the city boundary, if we were in the county it would not have been a problem. Since there is a composting toilet it isn’t a big loss. I sometimes dump a small amount of gray water in the gravel adjacent to the driveway slab. There is a fresh water hose bib inside with cold and hot water, so I can fill the fresh tank from inside. There is another cold bib outside for washing, as shown in that picture. There is a double gate allowing full access to the rear, and I have had an Oliver guest overnight back there. Having year round immediate access to the trailer is priceless and I have zero regrets. It can even be used as guest quarters and in case of a major power outage. I can’t run the propane stuff in winter with the doors closed, but I could run the 2400 watt generator in the back yard and have most of the electric appliances going in the trailer. For Oliver owners, I'm offering up my place to camp if you're between planned stops, and would like a day or two to collect your thoughts. We have a "farm" with plenty of open space, water, and a place to dump your tanks if needed. Electricity is available, but most likely just a 20 amp circuit. We are located on the south side of Tim's Ford Lake, in Winchester TN. Our location is about 20 min to Jack Daniel Distillery, Lynchburg, TN about 40 min from George Dickel Distillery, Winchester, TN. We are about 1 hour to Chattanooga, and 2 hrs. to Nashville. Lots to do if you have never spent much time in this area. Easy entry off a paved road, and grassy treed area for camping.
