  1. Do the new Norcold refrigerator's not run on propane also? I assume you don't have 120 volts where your trailer is stored? You state: "I have everything turned off." I take this to mean the batteries are disconnected from the trailer. Turn the batteries back on, no need for the truck to be hooked up, Turn the refrigerator to propane. It does take 12 volts for the fridge circuitry to function properly. Do this a couple of days before you plan to leave and you'll be good to go. Or, if you have AC power and are plugged in, just turn the fridge to AC.
  2. Take it and run with it. I think the grid should return to DC power.
  3. Thanks for the lesson in electricity, Captain Obvious.
  4. I’m glad you looked closer at that “red” cable coming off the back side of the shunt. All Oliver installed ground wires are yellow. So all is good there. And remember, turning off that breaker will not cut off power coming from the panels. It will only kill the (charging) power going to the batteries.
  5. A less expensive option is a front hitch on your truck. You can thread a needle in this configuration.
  6. It’s my understanding that, unfortunately, it is not available as a retrofit.
  7. And...for being the 7000th member, you have won a free litter of kittens. Just let us know where to send them.
  8. I was asked to instruct an informal demonstration on repairing any plumbing issues. I will be bringing some pex tubing and tools used to fix a broken tube or fitting. This will be a hands-on session and anyone who wants to try their hand at it will be welcome to do so. I also plan to demo the proper way to remove and lubricate the cable that controls the black tank sliding gate valve.
  9. There was a lot more to the Blue Sky vs Zamp changeover than meets the eye.
  10. I will look forward to meeting you guys at the Rally. We own the first Elite II sold, The very unique Outlaw Oliver, Hull #050. We also owned one of the original Elite’s from 2008. Drop by our site and visit with us. There’s always a crowd so you’ll have a chance to meet lots of folks.
  11. The doors come to the Oliver factory preassembled with the screen door, hinges and attached to their frames. They are simply installed into a hole cut in the hull. The color of the door is what comes from the door manufacturer. Just paint the repaired door white and put it back in the hole.
  12. If the alternator checks out, my guess is the battery's in the Oliver are shot (likely from running the fridge on DC for the past few years). If you are not unplugging the trailer when you stop, in some vehicles the trailer battery's and the truck battery will try to equalize thus bringing the truck battery down to the level of the trailer.
  13. The Living Vehicle requires a 3500 truck as a tow. Is there a HD electric Vehicle?
  14. Yes it is, and I agree with you about wanting a permanent fix.
  15. All this makes it rather embarrassing to know what we paid for the first Elite II to come off the line after the hiatus of 2009-2013. The Outlaw Oliver, Hull #050. We just had it ceramic coated by CGI out of Murfreesboro, TN. Come see it at the rally in May, it looks better than brand new.
  16. It's been that way since we sold our 5 year old 2008 Elite in 2013.
  17. Did you actually lay eyes on the sticker that stated “3,760 lbs payload?” That seems awfully high for a fully tricked out (Denali) 2500.
  18. Every trip you ever take will have unpredictable weather.
  19. John, you can disconnect the cable from the camera but it requires some simple disassembly. I did not want the cable to be run on the outside of the trailer and this does allow you to run the cable through a small hole. I am in the process of installing ours on the new 2022 Silverado 3500. I ran the cable in through the front wall of the trailer down low. From there, it enters the cabin under the bathroom vanity. I ran the cable down the street side with all the other wiring and plumbing to the back. Then out through the back wall inside the spare tire cover. I made a stainless steel bracket then painted it gloss white to hold the camera. It is mounted above the spare tire.
  20. We've driven the Million Dollar Highway over Red Mountain Pass on Hwy 550 between Silverton and Ouray. Most of the Youtube videos label it the most dangerous road in America. Personally, I didn't find it to be any big deal. This was after several locals in Durango warned me not to try pulling the Outlaw Oliver over it. We've driven the Moki Dugway several times both up and down with no problems as well as the Shafer trail in Canyonlands NP. Maybe it's just me, but roads like that don't particularly scare me. But I've never gone over the edge on one either. Tali, OTOH was petrified. She's emotional like that...
  21. Our trailer was the first LEII sold after the company restarted the trailer line in 2013. There is a tiny sticker inside the door frame, only visible when the door is open that has our VIN on it.
  22. I have an appointment on 22 March to have a ceramic coating applied to Hull #050 by CGI from Murfreesboro, TN. It will take a couple of days to complete and the will come to Tupelo to do it.
