  1. As others have commented on long term use - we have spent up to 2 months touring around in our EII, and I don't really have a complaint. Were we weather bound for some time, I would get a little weary, but that hasn't happened yet. The ability to go places other RV's can't or don't is a very large plus. Most of the time we are in places where hook-ups don't exist - and we run off solar with no problems. Given the composting toilet - we have few issues with dumping - as grey water is not an issue. Overall we are happy with the Oliver for up to 2 months - longer - probably not an issue either depending on location. Were we to go 100% - probably not going Oliver - for a bunch of reasons - most of which are just about space and amenities. However, not sure we would want to do 100% - for other reasons- non rv related. RB
  2. Congratulations, and welcome to the Oliver world.
  3. I methodically cleaned the areas with 3M Adhesive cleaner, applied the EZE gutters, and presto they are secured like "glue". Many miles later and doing well. No tape was harmed in the install of the gutters.
  4. Darn it JD - that is the rifle I have been looking at - also considering a 30-30 load. How do you like the unit.
  5. I would think heat and cold cycling, along with a left/right/front thrust from the stabilizers would put some amount of stress on the unit - mine certainly has a few creaks and moans each time I set it up for a level setting. However i haven't noticed any thing like what was describe - perhaps someone spilled a little Rice Krispies in the hull....
  6. All my "keys" reside in the TV. We use the electronic key pad exclusively. Ater 2 years the plastic cover is beginning to crack, However, it is one of the most used options we included.
  7. Interesting posts: I am satisfied with my Dometic fridge - it has done just fine the last many trips, it was the first few that set me against the darn thing. The AC - as stated by others - and move it to the front of the trailer, just aft of the bath wall. Option with compost toilet, black tank delete, larger grey water and fresh water tanks. Option those cool Aussie off road running gear. Can't recall the brand. and that's about it. Currently parked on a bluff overlooking the Dinosaur/Vernal valley, just biding the day away....
  8. I decided not to add screen to my Truma vent. It was not gonna be as easy and clean as the fridge, so it was not done.
  9. Having traveled from Az to Tn for many years, in winter i10 can be a better route,I 40 is good, but may be worse weather wise, and at times, both are impassable in some areas I would guess I10/I20 would be your best bet, once you've gone far enough south. Good traveling and welcome to the club.
  10. Two years, now, and after 2 early morning alarms, weeks apart for noreason, the Atwood is history. Went to the closest place, We are roaming Utah, and found a temporary replacement, but it's a 120 v with battery back up. Will suffice for now. The alarm I removed was from 2015, my rv is 2018. Will notify Jason monday, it's still under warranty...it just torqued me off however. .
  11. Nan, didn't the prior owner replace the AC - I would guess the hose was affected during the process .
  12. I love our keypad. Have not removed the batteries in 2 yeas, key unlocks anytime. never use keys, almost always the keypad - very good item.
  13. Most of the time - when we are done with hot water - I turn it off.
  14. @ 2+ years, 15K+ miles later - Things I don't like - The Dometic AC - just to loud - could use some tech updating- better energy management and cooling efficiency. Great Replacements are very $$$ but if this ever goes south - .... The Dometic Fridge - although it seems to have discontinued its sporadic trend to shut itself off - it is just not up to the task when outside temps are 90 and above. Again - replacement will be a AC/DC Danfoss type replacement. Windows will leak under certain conditions. Things I like- Just about everything else. I make incremental improvements as the community comes up with them, and although there are some real $$$ changes one can make - the basic Oliver is a pretty good unit - BUT - we pay for it. I am on the fence on this - quite honestly. Those with more years and miles experience can attest to the value better than I at this point. Were I to redesign the EII - well now that is a can of worms best left alone.
  15. David - your pic's are just great - as usual. My clip broke- after only a few uses - Oliver replaced it - now I treat it with extreme care - it is fragile - should be a machined aluminum.... Thanks for the info on the screen - will have to get one on the way - great- another thing to keep up with,.....
  16. My Chessy rides in the back seat area of our GMC - seats up- have a rigged covering system that protects all the interior - he rides like a darn King.... - in the off season I am going to sew up a really good system- maybe,,,,, I don't have an issue with storage capacity - use a leer top - everything but the sink!!! And yes - much of the West interstates are 80mph - it is not hard to find yourself doing 80 ---- I try to stay 70 and below - but when my wife takes over - well I have to dial her back - The GMC is like a Locomotive - don't worry about the mule - just load the wagon! The Anderson - was due to old TV - no need for it now-it stays at home. Good day all
  17. I usually do minimal planning, but given the situation, I have done a little pre-planning as to where are we staying - tomorrow - as compared to hey its 5pm, what do you want to do. So I have been using Campendium as my sourcing app. It certainly is handy - but I've come to understand one persons 4 star is another's - stay away at all costs. We like to boondock, and do HH when possible, but the heat was pretty intense in OK, NM this week, and thus needed some shore power - I may have to break down and buy a gen set..... (Have I ever mentioned I hate the Dometic AC) So - one place in OK, Territory Route 66 RV in Bridgeport OK was one night - nice country location, owners are just building the park, low key, low budget, but decent place. Great location to ride the bike down old 66. NM was a little more challenging, seems C-19 is keeping a few places closed. Had planned to HH - but the temps were just a little out there - ended up just outside Albuquerque - Turquoise Trail - just passable- and more $$ than it was worth - All the facilities are closed (Covid) but still want normal rates. Temps worked out - low 60 for morn.....mmmmm. Seems a lot of places are half full with permanent "guests" - I never noticed previously. Headed to elevation - it seems the roads are not as busy as past years - diesel is much cheaper - low was $1.61 - and about 1/2 people are C-19 aware. Still - the Ollie is earning its keep. Have a good day all!
  18. COE MAUMELL, great corps Campground, our spot was river edge. $13 with parks pass. Clean, well maintained. Roadways weren't as busy as they normally would be, must be the pandemic.
  19. I feel like my dog- so its - on the road again....we will see what's open - I have res at a COE, and plans for a few other now opened "places" NM is still closed - seems BLM is open - however it is June - come on folks - Its June - it's hot out - Covid hates heat, open up will you..... My dog will not wear his mask, I don't mind....
  20. PB Is good stuff - I had a swingarm that just laughed at IT however.....but the saw eventually won...
  21. My biggest gripe - they come on when not needed, and were never at the speed i wanted. Seems somethings are better left to humans. Don't need adaptive cruise- just go the freeking speed I set, thank you.
  22. Glad you like it- I had the auto wipers on my Ford - hated them I don't mind the column - - not a big deal for me I purchased the GMC over the ford just for what you mentioned - the ride is vastly better - and I liked the interior. The new versions - yours- has the trailer TPMs - so that is the only "suction" device i have... i am not a big camera fan - perhaps one day. If GM ever goes back to work, perhaps a 2021-22 Happy trails. RB
  23. So - update - liking the purchase?
  24. Overland: I was curious - how sturdy was the set up in the rough weather - as I was considering a similar set up - but concerned about the the weak center portion of the unit. RB
  25. I know JD has nightmare's about those rats nests...... -
