In reality - we take what ever we feel we need - then - when we get home - half of we never touched gets put back up! Two days - two months - same result. The added weight is inconsequential, after a couple years, we still take too much, yet for some reason, somewhere on a trip, we will say, next trip we need one of ....... fill in blank. I never need more than one bin for my clothes - and a small spot in the closet. The EII seems lacking in storage - at first- then once you return home -- and have to repack the kitchen sink -- you change your mind. Here is a fact - go to a spot where there are more than two Oliver's are parked - then try to dream up an item that you would think - no way somebody would have this- out on a camping trip - and ask - --- by golly - at least one will have it - most likely, two of them ...... If it isn't there - it will be next trip.... So much fun

Stocking the pantry and fridge for camping

We have a an ARB portable - it really makes a difference- we use it for the liquids, (beer, soda, H2O) and anything that just doesn't fit well into the Dometic. Quite honestly, it makes a real difference the longer trips. It runs off DC/AC, and the solar more than keeps up. My SO hates it - says it takes up to much room - yet praises the utility - push - I say. I need to leave it in the rear of the Truck, and all will be well. As Overland stated - as long as my Dometic runs to design, I am fine with it. Not worth a change until it dies - in a decade - or two..... -
I do not wish to share - lets just say a previous customer had an issue.

On the former two inch Oliver rear bike rack "platform" - that was basically two 2" receivers with an aluminum 2" square tubing platform attached. I was told why they discontinued it - and previous comments seem to be incorrect. I have one- that I installed, and it is a great piece of equipment - certainly capable of holding a goodly amount of weight. Others have have similar devices fabricated and installed on the Oliver - they have been featured on the forum - a search will get you there. Where I a new purchaser - I would forego the Oliver rack - and have one built (probably do it myself) and installed attached similar to the original Oliver design. Keep it under 200 lbs. and you'll be fine - no that is not an engineering spec - it is from my real world experience. Remember Atlas - and the leverage "thingy" . One can go overboard.... It has not been my experience that Oliver makes decisions on product with purely a cost mindset - balancing utility, cost and experience is a tough process, People can be very unreasonable......

Nice stuff! Pretty expensive though, not counting the lock.

Do a search of the forum - plenty of answers to your question. The threads on Timken are interesting. RB\

Pull fuse, replace. Will drive you nuts.... -
Gee I meant Eastern, I've done both, prefer less population density.

Yep, SLOW is the word. I usually let it drain overnight.

Gosh - my place is better than yours. Ha. Perhaps I am unique - I grew up in Cali, NJ, Del, TX, LA.(The Bayou), and GA, and as an adult, employed in TN, MI, MO, MS, KY, NY, and LA. I have my own preferences, but honestly find joyous places everywhere we go - Although the slog across Kansas can be hard - I do love the straight- almost perfect Interstate.... I had a great time biking down the thump thump thump Route 66 in OK, and had a great beer n pizza in the HH stay in MO, and, and, and - well - not to mention all the other - from here to there, and back again. Honestly - the crowds this year put a big damper on the summer trips. If it weren't for the Oliver's great boondocking features, it would have been much harder to enjoy many of the places we like to frequent. The US is great from coast to coast- border to border. When the C-19 is behind us - I plan to spend more time exploring all of it - some twice, Bilbo won't have anything on us. If I'm lucky, I Might even stumble across Mr. Bah-humbug - somewhere in the west - as I would love to see some of the improvements JD has made on his Oliver. The Seattle area is a long haul for sure, perhaps western WA. Enjoy all.

The cables are covered, I have grown to like mine - certainly not worth the effort to change them out - in my world. A few folks have done the replacement - perhaps they will comment.

The Elusive 2200w Generator

Given all the options, and reviews, I must admit - for the prices and very similar comparison, the Harbor Freight would be worth a go. -
RV Parts and Service Availability
BackofBeyond replied to Ray and Susan Huff's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Gosh, seems ominous. Rv -ing has gotten crowded, that is for sure. One day, folks will have to go back to work and pay for the stuff they bought this year!! One can hope. As for spare parts and such - that can run the gamut from just a few things to back up the truck. A search of the forum will lead you to several posts on this topic. I would go for replacement fuses, a couple wheel bearings and races, and a collection of tools to that may be needed for simple repair. As you have a new unit, short of a catastrophic failure, you should be good for awhile. Just do a good job on the shakedown at the factory. We had no issues, East to West and back, generally called ahead same day to ensure a spot if we weren't boon docking. Good luck, chill. -
Anderson Jack Blocks (The red buckets)
BackofBeyond replied to Naegele's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I use three 6x6 treated blocks about 10" long. Works fine, gives you two options for height, and store easily. I too use a few 2x10x10 for adjusting when needed. Cheap, and versatile. I hope my Oliver doesn't sit long enough to have a termite problem...... -
2021 Western Central US Rally: Please give your input ! :)

Glad to see this - Two events in one year!! -
I got a Leer - dealer was close by - got the Leer - has been a great product. Didn't see a big difference between the two major brands. Color code to your truck, fit and finish are great. I built some dividers for the interior storage. 40K miles - all looking good.

I like this. Seems the GMC 2020 2500 and on are a different box configuration. When I get a new truck (and a divorce) this would be in consideration. I can dream...

Yes - where is this - its perfect - and just a few hours. I would assume the Park office has the info?

Dometic Refrigerator Not Working

Mine did that - I held the button in for a little longer - then got pissed, smacked it, tried it again, and it worked all summer.... GOFIGURE...... -
The dog is multipurpose, I never understood how effective a larger inquisitive dog could be.....seems it adds one more deterrent that crooks avoid. Even if they are just looking for a treat.
