  1. @ChrisMI, I tend to agree. From a practical standpoint, solar charges our batteries at this slow, low charge settings, near the end, best, imo. We've had a dc/danfoss/secop fridgefor several years now. 2 x 105ah 12 v agm batteries, 400 watts solar. As I've mentioned before, we do sometimes have to use the Honda 1000 charge. We use it early am,in bulk charger, and let solar do the slower charge. You can add, but not take away, easily. Solar is best add. Imo, batteries can be upgraded. Our agms have been sufficient for us two power misers. We have no microwave, no inverter. Every camping style is different
  2. Unless you plan to plug in a lot, I'd say your assessment is correct. Or. Simply carry a small generator. The dc / danfoss fridge needs 24 to 27 ah power, in our trailer, overnight. Each night. X 2, with no solar, portable or fixed, or no hookups, you'll need more batteries, or more solar, or a generator.
  3. So, we sadly abandoned the beautiful leaves of the Appalachians, and drove home to Florida today . The migration had begun. So many campers, trailers, and class a's already on the road. Floridians, like us, on the way home. Lots of Canadians (Ontario and quebec plates), and most Eastern/midwest upper states. The folks from quebec seem to travel in pairs, or threes. Two or three similar motor homes, or fifth wheels. Florida folks, be prepared. Camping sites will again be limited, throughout the prime winter season.
  4. Are the nitto grapplers overkill for a 1500? In your opinion? Vs michelins?
  5. Btw, @rich.dev, any snow yet?
  6. I buy the sort of damp rid tubs at my local dollar tree (now dollar + a quarter tree) store. They work very well. I keep them un sinks, and shower floor. damp rid us quite expensive.
  7. We've loved all our (6? 7?) Canadian trips. First, with the Ollie, was to revisit Lake Sharbot, where my husband spent many summers with friends and families, then in to an around Erie,,Ontario, Michigan and Superior, top of the lakes trip. It was. so. Darned. cold. in July, we had to find warmer clothes. Unexpected. But refreshing . 🤣 I still have a too big pair of sweatpants from that trip. I should just give them away. We love our Canadian neighbors, your beautiful parks, your welcome, and especially our travels through the Yukon, and our camping friends there. (My husband is from Buffalo, and I'm from Minnesota, so "almost" Canadian, in our original climates.)
  8. You know, @Trailblazers, I think they're working on making the Oliver experience more widespread, and just as special. But, small centers outside of hohenwald. We'll see what happens. No matter what, our Olivers are very special indeed. I wouldn't trade my 2008 for anything else in the market, today.
  9. On our boat, and in the Ollie, out of season, we remove anything that absorbs moisture. Cushions, bedding, towels, etc. (Florida) Those items live in semi-comdtioned space, in the garage. We clean the heck out if the interior, before storage. And, I wax the interior walls and other fiberglass surfaces. The one year I didn't, I got som mildew in the bath sink top. (Not granitefiber-original white , that was a pita to remove.)
  10. Plus one on Custer SP. And the wildlife loop road, at dusk and dawn!
  11. Steve, do you store your trailer inside or outside? I'll let people from your climate zone answer your question. In Florida, I leave it open.
  12. See my post in another thread. My trust level over 16 seasons with the family is very strong. Please take a deep breath, and continue to have confidence in the Oliver family. They care about not only their customers, but their employees as well. I don't see that changing, no matter what, honestly. Back during the 2008 downturn, and the hiatus, Oliver continued to not only give gainful employment to all their employees, albeit often in other jobs, but continued to support our "orphan" trailers. And, they paid the fees to keep our then very tiny membership forum going. Som of us, like mountainborn and I, with more computer background, kept it afloat with our expertise, and no admins. (I do appreciate our admins.) Was I upset/angered by the decision to drop the classifieds?. Yes, of course I was. Absolutely. I was quite angry. But, if they feel that need, we'll figure out other paths. Will we continue to be the best possible group to join, for access to experienced Oliver owners, who actually have factual answers, based on experience? Yes. We will. It's not my job as a volunteer moderator to offer marketing suggestions. Oliver has a paid team for that. The benefits of having Oliver trained and certified service centers dotted about the four corners could significantly outweigh the loss of classifieds for many folks farflung from Hohenwald. We'll see. I'd encourage all of you to do as I will. Take a deep breath, and see how this works out. I know, personally, from my solid experience with the Oliver family, that the commitment to contiinued exemplary customer, and technical, service will not change. Its in their DNA. 14. Florida state parks have a 50 per cent discount, for Florida residents, from a few days ago, until January 13. https://www.floridastateparks.org/learn/florida-state-parks-annual-pass-discount
  15. Were we 20 years younger, I'd likely be on a plane to check that one out. Hope they bring the prototype to the Tampa rv supershow. I think that's one cool trailer. Love the rising/lowering nose cone for aerodynamic efficiency. Single axle, for 6200 lb ? The twin skinny front wheels wouldn't be great on our mountain property, but probably fine at home with the integrated self drive. 45 kw battety is amazing. Some great design minds. We'll see how it works for them.
  16. Just make sure you time it! 🤣🤷🤣
  17. Great rhought. Thanks.
  18. Btw, do you have a dog with you?
  19. If yours in the same spot as ours (under the small dinette), fumes can get trapped and linger. You could try running a fan, on exhaust, under the table before bedtime, not all night.. You could also try vacuuming the face, or cleaning the face with a damp (not wet) corner of a microfiber (not cotton) towel, and thoroughly drying it. (While you're at it, wipe down the area under the table.) Then the fan, on exhaust, for an hour or two. Do run the exhaust fan in the bathroom for night time visits. Your newish propane detector shouldn't be doing this, but, it has happened. Could be defective. If simple measures don't give relief, open a service ticket.
  20. Unfortunately, not everyone has the skills and tools to do that. Glad for you that you can.
  21. Yes, it is classified as type a. Proprietary fittings and tool. Pex plumbing is very common up north, but not so common in the south. We had to get the county to recognize newer code to use it in the fire suppression system. It was an interesting experience. We wanted the continuous rums, since we planned a manifold system. Limited number of qualified plumbersxtobwork with. My husband actually designed and built the manifold. It's worked very well for us, along with our Phyn leak detection system.
  22. When we built our house,,8 years ago, I specified uponor pex and their 25 year guarantee expansion fittings. Normal pex a expansion fittings can have a failure near heat. We've used shark bites, and other push to connect, in our barn, and our house. They're easy, don't require extensive tool kit, and great for simple repairs. Expensive fittings, but way cheaper than a plumber, or rv tech
  23. Your new Elite is light years beyond our 2008,,though it has many updates. Hope we'll meet up someday, to compare m. Thanks for the insights.
  24. A "no cook" thing I often do. I buy little bags of avocados at Costco, lidl, or aldi. Homemade guacamole, or smashed avocado dip. Cut the avocado around the meridian. Slice halves with a little knife six times each way. Scoop onto a bowl with a spoon. (Best stuff is closest to the skin.) I add finely chopped onion and jalape, a bit of lemon juice, a splash of hot sauce. Mash with a fork My healthy (😍) late night snack, with gluten free seedel chips.
  25. +1 on pinesol odor. Noxious, to me. Back in March 1, 2020, height of covid beginning, I had a house full of guests,,flying and driving back to Minnesota. I sent hand sanitizers,,clorox wipes, lysol spray, etc., with everyone. Come March 3, nothing anti microbial available but pinesol. It does kill covid, given an extraordinary period of time, but, omg, the stench. ABSOLUTELY last resort, in my little trailer. And, worthless, if it doesn't sit for an extended period of time.
