@Doug S, all good questions. And, understandable quandries. When you wrote the original post asking for help, were you on generator without the ground plug? If you were on campground shore power, let us know. Different scenario. The more info you can provide, the more the collective minds can help. So glad everything is working now, at home . When did you install the new batteries? And, welcome aboard. Glad to have you here.

I hope that other Truma owners will see this, and download the instructions, honestly. From what I've gathered, it's not in the manual, but should be. An easy, and honest, mistake, easily corrected. We have a different brand instantaneous water heater (girard). When/if it fails, we'll likely go back to a standard 6 gallon suburban or atwood, I think, as we mostly live without hookups, so endless hot water is pretty meaningless, for us. We love the easy winterizing, and losing 50 pounds of weight, but a standard 6 gallon serves our limited needs just fine. We know, as we've had both.

We have a much older (15 year) tst system. It's on, as long as plugged in. It sends a beep when something isn't within parameters. Otherwise. The screen rotates through the tires with readings, silently. What I love about tst is the still personal, human contact. I never sit on hold for hours for an answer. Same person usually first contact. In these days of lengthy phone trees, lengthy hold times, call back to save your place automated customer service, etc., I've found that human touch, and, their quick turnaround time on the few occasions we needed service, to be amazing. I hope it's still the same. I suspect so, though the system is so reliable, it's been a few years. I really have appreciated their "antiquated", superlative personal approach to customer service, where I'm treated like a friend.

Day/Night Window Shade Questions
SeaDawg replied to rideandfly's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
We haven't had to restring shades (yet) in our 2008. I do remember, vaguely, Oliver changing up manufacturers at some point. So, maybe some need the Allen wrench, others don't? -
As far as Cortes, I wouldn't even bother to drive across our little bridge to see one. I suspect they won't be around long. Some of their "dealer" units have already appeared on eBay at reduced prices. Weird floorplan. Bathroom doesn't have a door, just a curtain? Short sink. Small windows. Founder arrested some time ago, i think for securities fraud. (,oh. And yes, I saw an ipo coming. Omg. Trying to bail?) They no longer tout (nor probably use) aluminized fiberglass, nor carbon fiber. Poor fit and finish. A goofy looking casita knockoff (since they unabashedly used a casita to create their mold.) Ugly, to boot, in my opinion. I could go on and on, but photos speak louder. Be careful out there. https://www.ebay.com/itm/145282499279?hash=item21d38302cf:g:HFcAAOSwVMVk93XF

Out of season, especially on the south, this is great advice. We actually have no winterizing season in Florida, so supplies run out quickly. (Folks returning north buy it up.) We keep a gallon spare in the trailer, use it as a door stop. A gallon or two in the cabin in nc. Yes, we live in Florida, but we love shoulder season camping, so every once in awhile, we would rather have it on hand, than be without. You never know when shoulder season turns into early winter. Been there, done that , and lost an outside shower, unnecessary.

Awesome that you are back in business. We'll thank @Dave and Kimberly, and @Frank C. I just did a search. Glad it worked for you. Happy to help, in my very small way. Enjoy your time in the canadian maritimes, and Maine.. Wish we were there, too! Such a beautiful place!

I looked through their website. Interesting manufacturing process, and certainly lightweight for size. Sadly, each and every floorplan listed eliminates the possibility for a big rear window, which I would really miss. I also dislike being able to see the honeycomb pattern of the plastic sheets in the photos. But, a number ofvthe floorplans would be great for a small family, and a smaller tow vehicle. Their dealer network is apparently one company, with several locations. One is about an hour and a half from me, and if I'm out that way for another reason, (there's a great old time Florida seafood restaurant that we like, not far away, and a seafood market that sells walleye in Hudson, itself), I'm curious enough to drop in and check it out. That location has three models in stock.

@dewdev, I don't have a Truma, but I've seen this discussed here a few times. Try this?

We were there almost this same week, maybe a week earlier. Some of the dahlias were dinner plate size. I'll never forget that. So very beautiful. The wind at night was cold, but the days were cool and bright, and totally awesome. Wishing you safe travels, and thanks for the memories. Where to next? On that trip (we called it the tides trip) we saw the maelstrom /whirlpool off deer point, the river running backwards at st. John, and the crazy tide at Hopewell rocks. The trip home, with the leaves, was really amazing. We followed the leaf change south. Envying you now. Enjoy the beauty!

Congratulations on your new to you Ollie. We'll work out how to reset your profile later. Hull number 590 probably means 2019, or so. ELITE 1 or 2? What batteries? Does the gfci reset, or no? Have you tried? Are you on shore power? Have you checked the shore power connection? Does anything work on 110? Fridge, ac, etc. Give us a bit more info, and folks will be happy to help. If you have the transfer switch (extra power connection), try unplugging from the pedestal, and wait a minute. Plug in again. Our transfer switch doesn't always kick in, right away. When it does, we hear a click inside, and when we had a microwave, the microwave beeped. Sorry for your troubles. A little more info will help us help you.

Omg, no way to chock those wheels... 🤣🤣🤣

@dewdev, are the dahlias still in bloom at Campobello? The cottage was interesting, as was the lighthouse, but the dahlias are my best memory. Great view from your campsite. We stayed on deer pt island, in new brunswick, and took the ferry over. Deer point is really interesting (the maelstrom!) If you haven't been there.

We've been doing similar for 15 years. Different toilet. I think this is inherent to a particular model.
-
That's interesting. The "original " zamp line had a 10 amp fuse, i think. Do you have a zamp port?
-
Doesn't matter if e1 or e2 , I think the zamp port is simply separate,,goes straight to the battery, and "should" have a 10 amp fuse. Wiring"assumes"a suitcase solar, with separate controller, for portables. What's on the roof is pretty much irrelevant. Different circuit. The zamp port goes directly to battety. Solar panels go to controller. The twain don't meet. And, yes, zamp port is wired backwards, from sae standard. once you get the fuse installed, you'll need to rewire your portable , or purchase an an adapter to reverse polarity. Only zam p (that I know of) works this way. Best of luck

@Wandering Sagebrush, that sounds like outstanding coverage. Glad your friend survived. I see coachnet now covers towables, at a reasonable price, with medical evac service. https://coach-net.com/24-7-protect-roadside-assistance/

Welcome back home! Safe travels!

This comes up just about every year, for good reason. Some plans cover TV only, some cover both, and some have additional benefits, like replacement tire brought to the site if you don't have a spare. (Don't laugh.... a number of class c motorhomes DON'T come with a spare, just like a number of new cars. Yikes, I know, but it saves on weight, cost, etc.) We've always used one of the good sams policies. A variety to choose from. https://roadside.goodsam.com/plan-benefits?utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=[adv:+RA]+[plt:+Google]+[fun:+Performance]+[ini:+Brand]+[tgt:+Brand]+[bil:+Direct]&campaignid=2056391751&adgroupid=76722091878&adid=597569385777&cq_cmp=2056391751&cq_con=76722091878&cq_term=good sam rv roadside&cq_plac=&cq_net=g&cq_plt=gp&gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwgsqoBhBNEiwAwe5w0-NWzBF9bm3ZEVfWfkO5vwDuI37ke_bEFY1mki7UNUKFlPo1Qdd37RoCkK8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#pcomplete-tab

This could have gone really bad. Always have a plan, and if you're the injured party, don't try to be a lone hero, and stay behind alone. https://denvergazette.com/outtherecolorado/news/hiker-with-severe-injury-left-behind-by-group-at-national-park/article_adf9f346-570e-11ee-87f6-477e8a015115.html

That's exactly what we love to hear! Welcome, and we'll look forward to hearing about your travels!

And, some of us don't carry folding picnic tables, nor bikes, awning screens, massive tool kits etc, etc. Some people camp a lot, in home state. Others travel a lot. Either way, what you carry depends on your own judgment. I think it's important to point out what you really should have, if you feel the need to carry a lot of gear. It's also important to recognize that some of us DON'T carry a lot, and don't "need" it, and don't need a huge truck. It all depends on our individual camping styles, and where we go. I've been super happy with my Silverado 1500 for over a decade, and it's my daily driver. But, my mom (88) now has a hard time getting into the cab, even with my smurf bars. I'm considering replacing it with an suv. (My husband's truck is way bigger, and impossible for her.) I'm watching the new , and used, offerings. I love my truck. And I can borrow an suv from my son-in-law, but that's cumbersome. I hate change, but, hey, sometimes it is what it is. Sometimes, we have to look ro the happy medium.

@SomeDaySoon, I'm sure you can add to the conversation on Canadian campgrounds, among other things. A lot of us truly enjoy the welcome of our northern friends and neighbors, and your beautiful Provincial and territory parks. Welcome from #12. Love your chosen screen name, but I'll probably be listening to that old Judy Collins song (that I loved) in my head for awhile....🤣
