  1. Wow... Propane leaks are scary. Last year we had the alarm going off but I wasn't concerned because we had the propane off at the tank and were using a ceramic cube heater. Did some checking and after reading the manual for the alarm found that they have a "life" span of about 5 years. Got that replaced so we should be good for this summer. Your cube heater should be fine whenever you are plugged in. The thing you'll have to be careful of is getting too warm. I cranked it up one night and woke up at 2 am and it was 85 degrees inside. Good Luck and thanks for letting us know.
  2. Oliver is upping their game as far as off grid / boondocking ability are concerned. Mostly due to improvements in solar / battery / components etc. I think they can nibble around the edges of the overland market. Not the hard core expedition guys... who will go the 4x4 van, Earthroamer, jeep with rooftop tents, and the like. But the folks who want to get out into BLM land away from the crowded campgrounds. And still have the creature comforts that the Oliver brings to the table. Serious off grid / road capability puts you into a whole new category of vehicle, with a whole new price tag. Any choice you make will involve compromise as to capability, components and price. Do your research. Read and consider everything. I think you'll find yourself coming back to Oliver.
  3. We did a live aboard dive trip in 2010 on the Great Barrier Reef. One of the requirements was that every diver have a "safety sausage". An inflatable tube about 8 feet long by 6" in diameter. Easy to blow up and hold vertically above the water. One pair of divers came up a long way from the boat (after I was aboard) and inflated it and it was so easy to see. Without it.. not so much. The zodiac picked them up. I never... never.. go diving without one now. Safety equipment is a must. This is a sad story and I will admit that after the first reports of them being found I was sure it was foul play. I hope others will learn from their mistake.
  4. Had a thought.... If you have not found this guy yet. You might want to post on the Oliver FB group and ask members who live in the area this happened in to post and share the crap out of the photo of the driver. Give the PD information / phone number / case number. Someone in that area will know this guy and just might drop a dime on him. Again, very glad you are ok. Best of luck in finding a new Oliver and getting out there again. Scotty
  5. https://rollinontv.com/truma-varioheat-furnace-on-show-segment-2021-21/ Good article on Truma Varioheat. I really hope Oliver starts offering this. Seems like a quality unit. Quiet and efficient.
  6. Would be nice if Oliver starts installing Truma Vario heat along with their a/c.
  7. Since moving to NC I have liked the idea for states to have only a rear license plate. Until now. Very glad you survived this ordeal and wish you the best. And, like many others ... I hope they find this *******. He needs to pay.
  8. Install the trimlok gutters. That will help a bit.
  9. My God! How many Lizards would it take to insulate an Oliver LE2?
  10. Interesting topic... having to depart in a hurry. There could be a variety of reasons for that. Yet another reason to keep a tidy campsite. Division of Labor between spouses would be a plus. Donna usually handles everything inside while I take care of the outside. And... no matter how tempting to save an extra minute or two... Do a thorough walk around before pulling out. Could save a lot of heartache. Thanks for sharing the story.
  11. Hey Moose. We stayed in C section at past rally's. This will be our first time in B section. B-07 so I am sure we will have a chance to talk. B section is a bit more shaded and has pull through sites, so it should be pretty easy to get into and set up. Plus you will be closer to the Pavillion, Vendor area, and Gathering place. Bikes would be a plus but not killer if you don't have them. Dog Park?? I think that might be new... and we'll probably see you there too. Good Luck and see you in May.
  12. I was just thinking that $4 per gallon seems to be the new norm these days. Plus, $4 seems to be the price that starts to hit the RV market. What happens if it continues to go up. If China invades Taiwan? $4 a gallon may start to look like the good old days. Sorry to be a buzzkill.
  13. I think you mean the Way Way Back Machine. Tell Mr. Peabody I said Hello.
  14. That's what I understand to be the "correct" way to jack up the trailer. The problem on a pre-2017-18 trailer is that the subframe is very short. Trying to find a place to get a jack in there amongst the axles etc. is not an easy thing to do. I have used the onboard stabilizers as well and not had any problems. It's my understanding that this issue ..... along with some folks damaging the axle by jacking under them... was what drove Oliver to the decision to extend the steel subframe.
  15. Yes.. that's eggsactly what I meant to say.
  16. Someone should be making a list of these
  17. Rumor has it that the new Elite will be the same height as the Elite 2. Shorter but the same height.
  18. Try the coconut coir bricks when you get a chance. We’ve found them better than the peat moss. Easier to travel with too. Good Luck.
  19. Get a good nights sleep on Sunday. You’ll want to be well rested. And Congrats
  20. Like loosing an engine on a twin... gets your attention real fast.
  21. Will the trailer be at your home? Easy to monitor? Assuming you have the Platinum Package (630 ah) ... I would reduce the charge to 13.2 volts per the manual and then turn the batteries off using the BMS power button. Get one of those weather stations with a remote temperature sensor to monitor the temp inside the battery box. If it looks like it's going to get above 86 degrees you may want to take them out and put them inside where the temps will stay in that 14 - 86 degree range. Good Luck and please let us know how things are working out. Scotty PS.. just realized you have the PRO package... I checked the Lithionics manual for those batteries and the storage requirements are the same as for the larger batteries. I would also download the manual and read it thoroughly.
  22. Only those with two awnings... and both have to be extended.
  23. Here is a bmp file with the 2016 config on it. I believe OP has this already but for any other 2016 owners. Guide-Sheet.bmp
  24. He's got a 2016 and has the picture describing the configuration. Not sure if the video show the 2016 version or just mentions it.
  25. I made Donna get out and look. But that's a good plan if travelling solo. People behind you may get pissed off but would be more inconvenienced if you jammed your rig in the tunnel.
