  1. Can’t disagree here. I try to clean the window tracks after long trips. It’s a pain. It’s surprising what you find in there. Mike
  2. We’re on the road right now without the generator. You can look on the Tractor Supply website for the models they carry. We got ours on sale, $50 off. It was a 2000W, gasoline only. It’s worked well for us. Mike
  3. If the leathercraft show is something you would enjoy, I think you would be able to stand the heat for a week. We spent a week at Big Bend when the temps were in the 100s and also a week at Palo Duro Canyon when the temps were in the 100s and we had a great time. You’ll sweat a little. Sit out in the evening in shorts and a T-shirt after grilling then shower before bed and you’ll be fine. My $.02. Mike
  4. If you can establish a relationship with a reputable local independent you should get good service. Our local repair shop has seen business increase significantly the past 12 months and he is always backlogged but seems to be able to get me scheduled in a timely manner. He’s been doing maintenance on my Oliver for 5 years and on Bugeyedriver’s Oliver for probably 12 or 13 years. Mike
  5. Yes, it’s hot here in August. Also, it’s hot here in July and September. June wasn’t too bad. If you are at a full hookup site and can run the AC she would be comfortable, but might get cabin fever in that small space for days. Usually it’s cool enough to sit outside in shade in the morning and evening. A great place to stay just south of Waco is Mother Neff State Park. It’s small but is meticulously maintained with large sites and trees (all FHU). We’ve stayed there many times. We’re leaving tomorrow for a long trip and will be camping in north Texas tomorrow night. It can be done! Mike
  6. What about installing it under one of the beds? Would it fit under the mattress extension overhang? Looks like a nice unit. Mike
  7. I have not seen any comments here on dealerships treating Oliver owners differently than those who purchased an RV at the dealership. I haven’t seen that over on Fiberglass forum or AirForum either. In fact, I see where some AS owners regularly go to a different dealer for service than where they purchased. This is especially true for folks who go to Colonial Airstream in NJ from other areas of the nation. We use an independent repair place just a few miles away and have had excellent service from them. Mike
  8. Welcome Mike and Sue. Your story sounds similar to ours, only 6 years later! NC is increasing in Oliver owners! Mike
  9. I’ve never tried to run either grill on 2 regulators. I took the regulator off of the Weber, it was mounted to the grill. The regulator on the Blackstone is on the hose. I have hoses with and without regulators so I can run either off of the tanks on the Oliver or off of a separate 20lb tank that I carry for the fire pit. If I use the Oliver quick connects I use a hose with no regulator. If I use the separate tank then I use a hose with a regulator. This arrangement has worked well for years. Mike
  10. When we were shopping for a trailer in 2014/15 Airstream was really the only thing we were considering. There were some posts on AirForums about quality and issues which were concerning. Then, in one of those threads someone mentioned Oliver. I did a web search and the rest is history. Mike
  11. Happy 4th everyone! Glad to have an Oliver to be able to see this great nation. Mike
  12. I’m in the WD40 camp. I always carry a can in the truck so it’s handy when I need it. Mike
  13. Welcome! You’ve got a classic trailer! Mike
  14. It’s okay to defend AS or point out updates. While they have some nice features they are struggling with overall quality and reliability. Thanks for the flooring update. Mike
  15. I like the wood look, Foy does a great job. I think the extra inches on the table top will make a huge difference. Mike
  16. When I connect my Weber Q1000 to the quick connects on our Oliver it seems that the flame is low at first but after 5 minutes or so it’s plenty hot enough to grill. I’ve read where some folks enlarge every tenth hole of the burner to increase the heat. I haven’t tried that yet. I’ve use our Weber for 5 years with good results. Mike
  17. I’ll be interested in the tanks sizes for this 23’.
  18. I don’t consider my Oliver “old” or even “older” although it is over 5 years old with over 60K miles on it. Comments while out camping are that it looks new and most are surprised at its age. Wash and wax after each trip and it will keep its shiny new look. Mike
  19. It looks like a nice trailer for those without the $$ to get an Oliver. Interesting how much less it weighs than an EII for about the same size. Mike
  20. We run our Weber Q1000 and Blackstone off the Oliver quick connects. If I run them off of a separate 20lb tank I use a hose with a regulator. Are you saying there are portable grills that don’t need to be regulated? Mike
  21. Our window gaskets are black and we’ve not had any problems with them, no bleeding or streaks. I did have black streaks from the gaskets on the porch lights. I finally replaced the lights and cut my own gaskets out of a sheet of rubber and haven’t had any bleeding since. Mike
  22. There is not much maintenance on the factory solar. I wash it when we return from a trip. That’s about it. I’m up there cleaning the roof anyway, so it’s not a big deal. I’ve never done anything while on the road. Mike
  23. Welcome MJ. You’ve come to the right place to find out about Olivers. Olivers are built better but don’t have the interior “bling” that an AS does. We have some former AS owners so maybe they will chime in. Mike
  24. Ummm, I wonder what is being said over on the Escape forums….
  25. We stay at around 65 on the interstate except in west Texas when the speed limit goes up to 85, then we do 70 so we’re not a traffic impediment. Mileage is around 14-16. Cummins 6.7 diesel. Mike
