Burn ban in Burnet.  For non-Texans, Burnet is pronounced BURN-it.

I called the park office this afternoon (Texas time) and the gentlman I spoke to indicated that propane fire pits are OK if you choose to bring one along.

The park site is not showing an active alert for a burn ban so that makes me curious.

The whole county is in a burn ban.  TPWD sent me an email about it as well.  When I listed it, I copied the text from their email.

PLEASE do not take my following comments personally. In the case of FIRE, always error in caution.

Living in a state where fire danger is serious. I have not lit, nor allowed anyone to even light a candle on our property, let alone a fire. Love fireworks, but have not used them in over 20 years.

State parks do not declare fire danger conditions nor burn bans. There are Texas state parks in 20+ counties.

State counties or the NFS will declare fire conditions. The Prescott National Service governs all fire restrictions in our area. We study their website to see if we can light a fire, go trap or target shooting, or even ride a dirt bike in our forest. Generally, none of this is allowed during our dry summers. Central and west Texas can go through many years of drought. The Hill Country of Central Texas was in drought for 7 years when we lived there years ago.

I was a true pyro at heart, loved fires, but have grown up and become responsible. Today I will only light our LP fire ring plumbed to our Oliver LP port.

Nineteen (19) Hot Shot firefighters died in Yarnell AZ and our community just mourned the 11th anniversary of this loss: https://azstateparks.com/hotshots/the-hotshots/about-the-hotshots

Come visit, hike the trail, and maybe like me, you may never want to start a fire again. We just visited Ruidoso NM and it’s such a shame to witness their loss, and from what I understand, caused by man.

Texas State Parks do list alerts, including burn bans.  The attached came directly from the Inks Lake Site.

Other Texas State Parks have burn bans restrictions listed on Their site. This burn bans has been in affect since 10/4/24.

Just sitting here relaxing while Olivers are pulling in, left and right. We’re in loop 58-72 and I believe @Mike and Carol will soon park in the empty spot center of picture!

We arrived mid afternoon Sunday.  Several trailers already set up, and new arrivals the rest of the day.  We've met several folks already.

Most of our camping in the past has been tailgate type events. This is shaping up to be a wonderful "no host" rally.  Our plan is to just hang out and meet fellow Oliverts. Tomorrow we're making a batch of chili with 6 lbs of meat at site #68 to share while it lasts.  It should be ready around 5 pm.  Not enough to fully feed the 80+ folks that are expected at the rally, but it's a good start.  Make this a pot luck and there should be plenty. Bring what you'd like to share.

Here are some early photos.  We can't remember everyone's names, but even if we did the pictures remain uncaptioned for those who prefer their privacy.  Our campsite is the one with the Sprinter van.

Bob and Barb (me) checked into site 230 yesterday.  We are new to owning an OTT and this is our first road trip.  Can't wait to meet you all, and pick your brains on what works best for you.  Is there a schedule of events so that we don't miss anything?

Don't hesitate to walk up to people, knock on doors, etc.  That will get you into all the events you can handle.

Remember, these are folks just like you and we all love our Ollies.

There's a barbecue set for tomorrow at 5:30 at the Pavilion there in the park. Also Jason with Oliver trailers will be in the park all day tomorrow for anybody that has questions or or need some assistance. And on Wednesday morning at 11:30 a truma rep will be at site 44 for a clinic he's also I can answer any questions on all the truma products.  Tonight  site 68 is has prepared chili until they run out for participants and they said if  you wanted to make it a potluck and bring something to share with everybody that would be great.  They posted it earlier on this Forum, I believe they said 5:30
