LOL, this isn't really a mod, but I wanted to post this somewhere. It never occurred to me to see if my Cabelas recliner would fit inside the cabin. It measures 24 inches at its widest point, so I gave it a try.

FullSizeRender-1.thumb.jpg.d035817b150eaed90ef1751cfbf3abfd.jpg

It blocks the beds but the rest of the interior is still fairly accessible. It will make a great place for me to hang out on a cold dreary day if I am by myself. There are no other choices that don't force you to be bolt upright or flat on your back. It obviously will not be good with more than one body inside Mouse.

Has anyone else tried this?

ROFL.

Love the idea. Opted out of the hot tub model...

Seriously, if you are camping solo, the lounger indoors is an awesome idea, John.

Crappy weather days are the worst.

If we think they're going to persist, we'll just hook up and go.

We both hate being cooped up inside.

But, then, we hate it at home, too.

Don't want to hijack this inventive thread. I will start a new one.

Actually, I've thought about this for a long time. I'm talking about a real leather recliner, well 2 of them side by side. My brother's large trailer has them and can't think of a better way to relax. Can the Ollie be custom built low enough where the twin beds are now to install two nice recliners or maybe one recliner and one bed? Many of my older friends sleep in recliners anyway. I spend a lot of time in mine with a laptop on my lap and when the tv was going I had it blaring in the background, no more though as I rid my self of satellite TV recently. Just wondering!

The beds can't be lowered, all the space below is allocated. On one side it's the water heater, water pump and furnace. On the other side it's the inverter and solar charge controller. On both sides you have the wheel wells and rear jacks protruding up into this space.

I suppose you could leave all those things off and just set it up as a tiny house.

We haven't put a recliner in but we put 2 chairs in, one in the entry, then one in the isle by the drawers, then sit 2 people on the couch for playing cards with a folding table in the isle that slides under the bed for storage.

Happy Camping,

I thought of doing that, placing the recliner but having it facing the tv. Then I don't need to move. but then if I need to go to the bathroom

I would have to climb around the dinette table.....

Old thread but relevant for me:

I'm so glad to see that at least some kind of a recliner is possible.  Despite the jokes, (which I love!) for me, by myself, it is much more comfortable to sit reading this way.  Fold it up and put in the truck during the day.  Fine with me!

At home (when I'm  banished to the  bedroom as  a quiet place from  which  to  attend Zoom  board  meeting calls, or for quiet reading time) and in our camper van, I just pile enough pillows behind me and another  under  my knees to  get a poor person's version of that Advanced RV bed/recliner. It's not quite the same as reclining  with  legs  still lower  than hips but it has  been  working well  for me in any case.

I must  admit that one of the appeals of the  Oliver for me versus  other 4-season  capable campers was that all  the others were heavy on dark "pleather" style bulky recliners combined with  stained wood cabinets.

But I'll admit that I do enjoy reclining in the shade of our backyard with a  book  while sitting  in a recliner that looks much like the  one John brought into  his trailer.

I wonder how you'd access all the systems below? I guess you could have the whole thing mounted to plywood, and move it like a stretcher.

Axel Bloom sells a diy system. Springs look a lot like the Froli system. (Both are German designs, so maybe not surprising.) Raises the bed height by 5 inches, before adding the mattress.

We have an outdoor lounge chair like John's. Paul's favorite spot for a nap, outdoors.

Wow, I'm sold!  Thank you!

Don't ask Advanced RV: their website states that they are too busy to work on any but their own RVs.  Thanks for the alternatives though.  Have to put the old brain to work...

I wonder if this isn't what Advanced RV reclining beds are based on.

On their website they show how they allow for access to items in storage under the bed.  It seems there is some sort of pivot point about 2/3 of the way down that allows for getting under the bed.

It's the mounting I'm thinking about.

Most other rv "builtin" furniture is wood. Ours is fiberglass. Somehow, the whole thing has to be secured for travel.

Then again, drilling holes under the bed/seat cushions isn't a big deal.

I'll really look forward to your mod. I love the adjustable beds we put in our guest room. If my back is bothering me, it's the very best place to sleep.

Can somebody recommend a really comfortable camp chair?

There have been many threads, do some reading. I am partial to the ARB folding chairs and the zero gravity lounger pictured above. The latter rarely go on trips due to storage limitations, if I had a bigger TV they would always come along.

JP -

Try THIS thread for starters.

In many cases, just like with mattresses, comfort is in the "eye" of the sitter.
