Not that we need this much power, but a new Victron Energy MultiPlus-II 12/4k/160-50 120V just came out for $1,105 (no tax or shipping cost with this vendor). It's at a good price, having paid $997 for the 3K model July of 2024. Also, very good customer service with InvertersRUs. They serviced a warranty replacement for me on a small Victron MPPT SC. All I had to do was to email the pic of the Victron Connect app screen. They shipped a new one out immediately with return label. It provides 4KVA (3.4 KW) inverted power and can charge up to 160A. It's 2" longer, the same width and 3/4" taller, plus 7 LBS heavier than the 3K model that several of us have installed, so it will just fit in the streetside basement. With a whole lot of LiFePO4 Ahs, you could use this kind of power, if you're still running an ol' school single-speed compressor A/C and don't want to worry about what else you power up! No Soft/Easy Start needed with this bad-boy and you won't ever get stuck with a Multiplus failing for low voltage cutout. With required input as low as 9.5V your batteries may cutout before the MP2 ever will! Wow, checking my thread above on page 1, it was two years ago to the day, when I finished my installation. We also recently had Alcan upgrade our leaf springs and axles. Having a 2018 trailer we had the old 3000 lb axles and of course the 4 pack leaf springs installed by Oliver. It took us a while to decide to have the work done, but it was becoming obvious that we were due for a broken leaf spring or two without an upgrade. Upgrading the axles was an easy decision since the new axles provide better brakes and (hopefully) less maintenance. It’s a relatively quick process to have Alcan do the work; it takes about 2 hours. Lew told us his wife had worried about people driving to town to purchase a torque wrench and socket pulling a trailer so he now sells a decent torque wrench and the necessary socket to perform the required torquing for $50 dollars. He also provides a sheet with all the torque specs and is available for any questions. Tucker the technician who performed the work for us was available as well to answer any questions that we had. We did notice that the new running gear is much stiffer. We aired down our tires, and have done the preliminary torques. We would definitely recommend Alcan. Seems easier to have them do the work but as has been detailed by others, Alcan will ship so folks can do the work themselves or have a shop close to them do the work.Lew told us he is doing about 1 Oliver a week now, plus providing gear for the new Oliver Apex. I guess 38 pages of forum information pays off, for anyone who has the patience to read it all! Alcan suggested we go to Randy’s South Side Diner in Grand Junction while the work was being done. Decent local restaurant for breakfast!

I think it was Mountain man that discovered Alcan Springs and made the first post in the forum. some 36 pages later in the forum, seems the has provided a great service to Oliver owners and a real bump in sales for Alcan. Thank you Mountain man, for your contribution to all of us that have broken springs and now running on Alcan. Additionally, I think the folks at Alcan might consider some recognition and maybe a modest commission for purchases made by Oliver owners. Best to you and happy torquing Mountain Man

That is a good A/B test right there. I have not yet pulled the trigger on this, but if/when I do, the "short gutter" looks like the winner.

The campground at Colorado National Monument is really nice albeit without a lot of services. As best as I recall there are no full hookups but still a nice campground. We also camped in Rabbit Valley area but don't recall the name of the site however it was just off I-70. It's a good 25 or so miles out to that area from Grand Junction.

UPDATE on August 9, 2026: It has now been 1,800 miles of towing since the wiring work, and NO warning messages have been appearing on my Tow Vehicle .... I believe @ScubaRx is correct that we had the right avenue for my particular fix. I will update again, if it comes back. Thanks again to @jd1923 and @ScubaRx for all of their help, and to @jd1923's family for their gracious hospitality in Prescott.

I will make one more addendum to this thread: If you are going to Grand Junction CO for Alcan Spring installation (or just going because it's beautiful), take note that this year only the US Park Service has lifted the "timed entry" requirements for Arches NP in Utah -- and it's definitely a doable day drive from the James Robb campground in Fruita. They still have reservation requirements for the "hike with a ranger" but otherwise, you don't have to make a timed entry reservation this year -- in celebration of our 250th.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Alcan Spring in Grand Junction CO for a set of new 5-leaf springs for my Oliver. Alcan is fantastic to work with. My mechanic's name was Tucker, and he was kind enough to take time before and after the install to be sure I understood what is needed in terms of torquing all the various nuts -- there are quite a few to be done, at 50 miles, 100 miles and then at 500 miles post-installation. The torquing isn't difficult, though doing the nuts on the springs is much easier with two people. Note that the requirements vary from the fixed end of the springs to the flex ends, so pay attention. About a week after my install, I spoke to Lew on the phone and he noted that yet another Oliver had just pulled through for new springs. Someone there said that they have installed new springs on at least 250 Olivers. Imagine that! While I was there, Alcan also installed a new set of Dexter Brakes for my Oliver. Thanks to @jd1923 for looking at my brakes and also to @ScubaRx for encouraging me to follow through with a Warranty Claim (I had 25,000 miles so I was within the 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty window.) Dexter was dynamite with their turn-around on the Warranty and shipping the brakes to Alcan, where I was already scheduled for new springs. I truly appreciate both of these businesses -- Dexter and Alcan Spring -- for their efficiency and excellent service.

Yes it has the electric heat strip and the gas furnace both controlled by the thermostat. The difficulty is the interior shroud size and extending too far to the rear where the light is. Thermostat.heic

We primarily use Google Maps and it works well most of the time. I like that you can search along your planned route to add fuel stops, rest areas, etc., and save the entire plan on your phone until you need to use it. However, you do need to do a sanity check on the route it plans to make sure it's not doing something crazy. When it puts me on secondary roads I use satellite view to scope them out, making sure they're not farm tracks or something.

I spent the last week traveling my home state of wyoming looking at properties to potentially buy. I spent the evenings comfortably in my Ollie and got to spend time in some of my favorite places here. I thought I would share photos.

I have a E1, I have the DPII Penguin(noise machine).. You want to look into Houghton units, Recpro has them and only 9 inchs high.. you might to check out the other threads about them.. im looking to maybe getting the 9500btu unit.in the near future?.. good luck with your search. P.S. dont know if your year has a separate thermostat for the furnace.. Stay safe out there..

Yeah, I just looked up your Coleman model and it's the lowest profile I've seen at only 8.25". The Chill Cube is 6.25" taller (we park outdoors). I would take @CRM's lead on this. He has done more A/C research than any of us and looks like he may be in the market again with the "new Furrion low profile with heat pump."

I have an ongoing experiment... For 3 years now, we've had a drip rail on the curbside and not on the streetside, the perfect A-B experiment! Keeping the roof clean? Yes of course, but everyday the breeze coming over our ridge will deposit more red dust on the Oliver! Pictures to follow will start streetside front and end curbside rear. Only the last picture has no pin-striping where the drip rail has been installed. I'm going to install them on the length of the streetside to copy the curbside and a section in the rear below the OLIVER taillight.

Actually, according to Morton's testing, the Turbro is a fair amount more efficient than the Chill Cube in BTU's per watts... though I have no doubt that the Chill Cube is quieter and has better temperature control. I still wouldn't recommend the Turbro to anyone not willing to modify it as much as I did mine, though. One I would take a close look at is the new Furrion low profile with heat pump unit that *looks* to be the same outside unit as the Turbro but also *looks* to have fixed most if not all the issues I have with the Turbo, especially the ability to have a wired external thermostat. Going to try and check one of these out in the wild to see how they perform. I have a brother looking to upgrade his Dometic and might give him my Turbro if it works as advertised.

Last year and before, the free version was great. Click on a campsite, see reviews and they had a map link where it would launch Apple of Google maps for directions. It doesn't do that anymore, but states the $60/yr version does. Has anybody purchased their "RV PRO" version? Last year Campendium was our go-to app! For offline maps, get Avenza Maps! You can download any USGS (United States Geological Survey) maps for free and FS MVUM maps (Forest Service - Motor Vehicle Use Maps). I download them to my phone prior to travel online at home, or on Starlink when traveling. Even when there is no cell service you can still see the blue dot on the maps showing your location! 😎 We also purchased a sale-price subscription to onX Offroad which has public lands filters and shows where you can travel on dirt roads and disperse camp.
