  1. As some of you know, we lost an awning leg a few weeks back to a thunderstorm. This was clearly my fault for not bring the awning in when we left to go for a swim at the beach. Adding to this situation, was the tragic shooting at Fiamma Inc which, left the only North American Distributor closed indefinitely and no spare parts available. After posting this in the forum, Phillip Andrews from Oliver responded to me and forward my problem on to Jason Essary. Jason reached out to me to understand which parts I needed and went to work to find them in their "Boneyard." A day later he told me he found the parts and he was taking them over to shipping to have the parts sent out. The new leg arrived today and within 15 minutes everything was back to its original state. You can purchase a quality product from many companies but it's the people and how they treat you that makes them a great company. Oliver is a great company! With appreciation and pride, I own an Oliver,

  3. The sun and moon have a special moment for Oliver Boondockers on August 21st... a total eclipse route across a wide path of the USA. If you missed the Total Eclipse of August 7, 1869, and the July 29, 1878 total eclipse... shame on you. Do not miss this one with your Elite I or Elite II with the Total Eclipse in a photograph. Post the photo on the Forum for proof. We hope to be in Idaho for this one. Unfortunately we and our two Blue Heelers missed the previous two... for good reasons, of course.

  4. I have to very much agree with the others! We took delivery of our camper in April and about a month ago returned from our first trip of 7 weeks. Yes we've had just a few of small issues along the way. Jason and all the service folks have always gone way above and beyond to take care of whatever the problem is. Seldom have I found folks so interested in the customer and their product. We enjoy showing our Oliver to others and the complements we get at almost every campground. Oliver is a great company to deal with!

  5. Delivery Day has come and gone. We are thrilled! Special thanks goes out to Richie, Phillip & Heather for going out of their way to make our pick up day a special one. I've taken photos that I will share as soon as I can get a decent internet connection. We love the graphic decal that Phillip did for us and our couch configuration is perfect for our needs. The tables we had are working great with it & stow away nicely in our closet when not needed..I've been busy personalizing the interior with decals, bedding & pillows, etc, while Clair's going thru the exterior stuff. Richie has been great about showing us the things that were "new" to us. Now the fun begins! Photos coming soon!

  7. On April 12, 2017, our Legacy Elite II was hooked to OTT’s forklift and brought outside into the sunshine, ready to be hitched to our tow vehicle. After six months of research, planning, consulting, and finally building our baby, (“Olivia”) the day had finally arrived. From the first phone call to Anita last year and our reliance on her knowledge, Jason’s expertise, and help from OTT’s able-bodied service crew, our specifications, dreams and wishes were fulfilled, and the final product was ready for the road! After owning multiple RVs and travel trailers over the last 18 years, and witnessing the “quantity over quality” mentality become the norm in the industry, it was exciting to learn that Oliver Travel Trailers is bucking that trend and offering a hands-on, custom-built product. OTT’s business model is what any RV manufacturer should aspire to. In our experience, their customer service is stellar. Any issues we had (which were very few) were handled quickly with patience and total accountability in doing the right thing for the customer. Every time we use our beautiful Oliver, or show her to potential buyers, we are grateful for our good fortunate at having discovered OTT, and proud/confident in recommending their products and customer service to anyone. We just wanted to take a moment here to share our experience with anyone reading the forum for the first time. Have fun, and enjoy the wild, blue yonder! Malcolm and Ursula

  8. Hello, we are Tom & Cheryl from middle Tennessee. We have been egg campers since 2006. First in a 17' Casita and now in a 19' Escape. We started looking at Olivers when they came to our Townsend rally a few years back. At that time I did not want to go inside one because I knew what would happen :-). As we near retirement we are looking at the Oliver for longer extended trips. We visited the factory last week and really enjoyed the tour. What a quality trailer. For now we are just gathering info but we are finding that we are having Oliver conversations several times a week. We really like the twin bed setup and not having to crawl on each other. If Cheryl had her way things would happen sooner than later. :-)

  10. Hope to have a photo from Tellico Plains TN. Campground has two RV sites with 7 very small log cabins and many tent sites. The owner believes 300 people may gather there. Edit: Have not been boondocking with the Ollie so far, but will give it a try during the next year. NASA Eclipse Videos:

  13. I made this because the Owners Manual towing and camping lists are simply lame. This one is set up like an aircraft preflight checklist. Feel free to edit and change as needed, some items may not apply or you may just want to do it differently. Mine is laminated and posted inside the closet door: Click the attachment at the bottom to download the Word file. John Davies Spokane WA OLIVER-TRAILER-CHECKLIST-–.docx

  14. Hey Tom, welcome! I would encourage you to attend our rally in the spring. Last year we had some Casitas and a Scamp. You'll be able to see a lot of trailers and meet some fun folks. Plus, it's in your neck of the woods! Mike

  18. Re: Water draining down the side. The water does leave a streak, but it is easily removed with some 3m compounding polish. We sold 64 in September so perhaps Snowlakemike would like to comment on the water.

  20. I went with the Penguin II and when picking up the trailer, the amount of moisture there in Tennessee was too much for the internal drain, water was coming off the side of the trailer. (Not so much of an issue here in New Mexico.) Had I done more research, I might have gone with the Atwood, but I didn't. I spoke to Jason about exchanging and the rewiring of the thermostat sounded like the larger issue. I'd like to run off the Honda 2000. I've purchased the EasyStart but haven't installed yet.

  22. I think that this is an issue only if you live and camp in a humid climate. I was bothered by the water draining off the back in TN because there was some tree debris on the roof and the water stain was brown and difficult to remove. I needed to use Starbrite marine hull cleaner to get it off. 409 would not touch it. OTH I live and camp in an arid climate and the water will not be a problem IMHO. I have no regrets about the Air Command, but I do recommend that you get the bigger model if you plan to use it a lot. Mine is the 13.5k "equivalent" and it works pretty hard on nasty hot days, but I chose it due to the ease of running it off my generator, and because of its REALLY quiet noise level. I will be giving it a really good test next week. We will be camping two days and nights during a killer Northwest heat wave. But it's a dry heat LOL. John Davies Spokane WA

  24. Welcome to the forum and to the Ollie World community. I bought my trailer used. I bought my trailer tentatively. I bought my trailer in spite of the voice that told me I might regret such a high price for a piece of used fiberglass. Once I got out on the road, I have had no regrets and only minor issues-the voice is silenced. New or used? That is such a personal decision. Financially, I suppose the most efficient route may be used. You can likely save $10k to $20k, depending on the model you buy and when you buy it. Still, money is not everything (gasp-don't tell my kids I said that), and if you KNOW this is the trailer for you and you will likely leave it to someone in your will- who will know what you spent? Time has a way of erasing that number from memory. So many Ollie's being built now that you might find one with most of your option choices, but if you want what you want and you want the latest greatest, new is the only way to go. Updating everything on a five year old unit could get expensive. Three things I really, really, admire on the Ollie. First is the sense of family community, here on the forum and (rarely at this point) on the road. Second is the Oliver Staff. You have the ability to call, email, drop in...whatever ...and get help. Call Campting World sometime and ask for an appointment..wee what they tell you. Hard to imagine sitting for four weeks waiting for help or upgrade. Third, and sort of ashamed to admit it, but I really enjoy the envy and attention from SOB owners out there. It is fun. I am a retired CPA and handle the Ollie just fine. I had one campground manager even comment on the smooth back in procedure. Ollie is the perfect size..I am starting to ramble and could go "on and on". Either decision you make will be a good choice.

  25. Routlaw... your choice in an Oliver and use, may be the best choice you could have made. Trailers are very complex to build. If Oliver insists that their product continues to high standards of manufacturing, and not motivated by the production numbers and bottom line... wonderful new Oliver Trailers will become more accessible for 'trailer tourism' comparisons. The Oliver may be among a large number of comparable trailers, but it is the Oliver employees who assemble this maze of components, wires, plumbing and quality control that make or break a company. Our 'Other Brand of 25 foot Trailer' is a 2014. We had a refrigerator exhaust fan and snap switch that were faulty, which I replaced at my cost. I upgraded our 15" wheels and tires to 16" wheels and E Rated Michelin tires. A few interior rivets popped and replaced with a non rivet screws. Some securing of cabinet doors and drawers the first year and today are satisfied. Aluminum gets dings from errant gravel thrown that the gravel guards protect 90% of impacts. The top front catches small gravel that other vehicles toss up and leave dings. Hail would also be a hazard for aluminum, as would be larger hail impacts to fiberglass. Fiber glass is much more economical to make repairs. As any Corvette owner knows... The 'star' impact and the 'crunch' are much easier to repair than aluminum. Oliver's and the SOB trailer I currently possess will have great resale value as a used trailer. Oliver was not even on my radar. Now it is. Trust me... when I can look closely at our SOB and an Oliver... it will be through the eyes of someone who makes use of a trailer. Quality is more than superficial. It is a spirit among employees and the company backing up anything that goes wrong during the warranty period. If this fails... the nostalgia of owning diminishes quickly. Oliver is a fresh, clean and stout looking trailer. Growing pains put pressure onto any manufacturer. The SOB has already found this out by some trailers not meeting expectations... and perfectly so that the buyer expects nothing less than perfection. We have had SOB's since 2006. The 23 foot and now a 25 foot. IF there is to be a change in our choice of trailer... the Oliver will be the first to be picked 'to death' for anything not meeting our expectations. Two fine trailers that can easily share the same space in time and place. Oliver owners... you are the best adverting for the company. Time will tell. Owners cut no slack in their opinions when things are going wrong and the company neglects to follow through. This is the fate to some trailers. Oliver has the highest marks and no doubt, will keep it that way.
