Oliver did see this and I got a call from Mr Robinson at the factory. He had called the toilet manufacturing company explained what my problem was. The bolt is brass, but the washers and nut are plated. He was very concerned and asked if there was anything he could send me to repair. Let me say, I've never bought a product, had a complaint, and received an unsolicited call to resolve the problem before. Kudos to the Oliver team on this one. I'm heading to the marine store for stainless nut and washers. I wouldn't think of asking Oliver to send them to me. I bet they would.2 points

Hmmmm, may steal your "couch" idea. My husband is 6'3"/300 lbs & I just can't see him sitting there comfortably in the dinette configuration. The blue you chose is very pretty.1 point

I think I would stay away from the looser woven fabrics that Oliver offers. I chose a Crypton fabric for our couch setup & breathable vinyl fabric for our dinette cushions. Sunbrella is a great option & I may have gone that way if I had found a fabric I liked. The new vinyl fabrics are much nicer than they used to be & may be the best option for bigger dogs. Crypton fabrics states: "Stain, moisture and odor resistant – Crypton is the ultimate performance fabric!" We will see about that! I like the fact that their fabrics are easily cleaned with a water-based cleaner and feel softer. Before you order please Have them send you several fabric samples so you can double check colors/quality. I found my fabrics at 40% off at https://www.discounteddesignerfabrics.com and I was very pleased with their service. I believe most online stores will ship directly to the upholsterer, mine did. Oliver lists a couple other online fabric stores (Miami Corp & Kovi) on their website. Note: All of these fabrics choices are more expensive than Oliver's base fabric choices.1 point

Oliver will upgrade to a marine vinyl if you ask. We're using Morbern Prodigy (pdf sample card), which is essenitally a much more reasonably priced version of ultra leather. It's puncture resistant, easy to clean, and frankly looks ten times better than any of their standard fabrics. I have samples here at home that I've torture tested and it looks to hold up really well to abrasion and scratches. It has a nice texture, matte finish and a soft feel to it, similar to what you'd find in any high end car these days. If that's not your thing, then the sunbrella fabric mentioned above should do the trick. Both Sunbrella and Prodigy run about $20/yd vs. I think $9 for the standard fabrics, which is an insignificant cost in context. The standard Oliver fabrics have a loose weave that I doubt would hold up well at all with dogs, and their 'leather' options aren't nearly as nice as the Prodigy.1 point

Short of setting something really hot on the counter top surface, I don't believe you could damage the fiberglass very easily. A close examination of our tops will reveal swirls and scratches due to wiping them off, but you would really have to look very closely to see them.1 point

We have two 38 lb labradoodles and our solution is they are not allowed up on the furniture. They have the floor, and a couple of well used dog beds, with their scent firmly imbedded in them. If you cannot keep your big dog(s) off your stuff, I suggest dog training. Trying to keep the covers from getting damaged is a bandaid fix for a dog behavior issue. IMHO, of course. Our dogs sleep on the bed with us at home, they sleep on the floor when camping. It took very little time to get them to understand this. One is smart, the other is rather dim.... OTH Sunbrella is great stuff, looks good and is expensive. No offense intended, I just want you to look at the other side of the equation.... when camping, your dogs are going to get really dirty, buggy (ticks), maybe wet and smelly... do you really want that on your cushions? We need better pics of your dogs. Is one a doodle? John Davies Spokane WA1 point

We don't have ours yet (going into production as of tomorrow!) but we had the same concern. We opted to choose our own fabric and went with Sunbrella. I had read a posting somewhere here on the Forum about someone choosing Sunbrella because of their dogs. We bought the fabric and had it sent to the gentleman who makes the cushions.1 point

How about a stainless steel counter top? This was my solution to the very same concern. It has turned out to be an excellent choice. http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/stainless-steel-counter-top-2/ Oooops, just realized you already saw the stainless. I don't think a wood countertop, made from the same material Oliver uses for the other areas, would hold up well at the sink. You could tile the area, but that seems heavy and might require some maintenance. The counter top area is strong and could support tile without flexing, but lifting the sink and stove that much might require a different clamping system and possibly a change in the drain. Stainless is the most durable and lowest maintenance surface I can think of and the thickness didn't affect the sink or stove.1 point

I was at the factory yesterday. The fix is close - I'm sure they'll make some sort of announcement about it soon.1 point

I love the idea of combining a western-state Ollie rally with this tank modification. I think it is important for us to keep up asking Oliver how and when the fix of this issue will be handled. I'm supposing that current owners comprise one of the most powerful promotional tools in the company's tool box. One they don't want to lose.1 point

With "Roamy" home and in his storage place, I thought back to our first week of camping as we headed back to Florida from Hohenwald. We had wonderful times gazing out the windows at nature with morning coffee, dinners under the awning with fireflies and really peaceful nights of sleep. Being newly retired, I am still learning to slow down and relax so, this morning I decide to head out to the shop and build our first upgrade. So much for relaxing! Space being a premium, I want to give us some extra kitchen counter room by making a cutting board that would fit over the sink. In fitting out our Oliver we selected a flooring which emulates the deck of a sailboat. I wanted the cutting board to match that look. So with some quick measurements 2 5/16" for the darker strips and 1/4" for the lighter strips, I turned to the sink to get the overall dimensions inside of the raised aluminum band around the sink - 15" by 17". Looking over my wood supplies, I knew rock maple would be a great match for the narrow strips but the darker wood would be a challenge. I decide on American cherry knowing it would darken with age. Couple hours of milling, cutting, gluing, sanding and a few coats of mineral oil, my first upgrade was ready to use. Pictures below.1 point
