I can attest to the boondocking capabilities of our 2017 Elite ll, we took delivery of ours in may and have traveled about 6,000 miles so far, and on every trip we have stayed at friends homes at least part of the time, without hookups of any sort. This revelation prompted one of my friends to comment that we're "seeing America one driveway at a time"!!!!!3 points

We received a replacement fire extinguisher from Kidde on Saturday, December 2, 2017 via FedEx. The new extinguisher is a little shorter than the original unit and a little larger in diameter. They also included a new mounting bracket. Kidde sent a prepaid shipping label for the return of the recalled unit via FedEx. I replaced the extinguisher today including the new mounting bracket. There was no issue with the height but very close on the width due to the new replacement unit having a side handle for discharge. I checked several large box stores and they carry the replacement fire extinguisher that Kidde is sending out to replace the recalled units. What fire extinguisher is Oliver installing in its trailer today? In the future Oliver should make the mounting cavity in the closet door just a little wider and may be a little taller due to changes that are made with the fire extinguisher manufacturing. I have included pictures of the new fire extinguisher and one with it mounted in the Oliver. The replacement extinguisher is an improved unit over the recalled unit.2 points

Perfect time to update the List! I have started a list of attendees for the 2018 rally a will update as information comes available. The list is in progress and contains basic info such as, Names, forum name, Spot #, home state, and hull#. We also have a GOLF list in progress with just 4 people who are planning to play. I thought that this basic info will help everyone get to know each other but won't be intrusive as the info is available on the forum. I have attached the word file and will also paste it in below my signature. If you want to be added or correct / add any info please either post to this thread or PM me. Let me know if you want to play GOLF as well. Quick Question for Matt Duncan: Matt, would you be comfortable sharing your list with either me (to add to this list) or with the group directly. Happy to be the main point of contact on this but your info would help make sure we reach everyone. Similar to Reed, I keep a small mat for right outside the steps. It measures approximately 2.5 feet by 3.5 feet and is basically "astro-turf". I use this most of the time as it is great for getting most of the dirt/sand off prior to stepping into Twist. When I'm set-up for a stay of over a couple of days, I'll get the bigger mat out of the truck bed - it measures approximately 8 by ten feet. Bill1 point

Congratulations! I went to Hohenwald and took delivery of my Olliver Hull # 275 ! Spent a couple of nights in Hohenwald and then drove to Lake Guntersville State Park where the 2018 Oliver rally is going to be held.Very nice park ! On the delivery process i would recommend that maybe Oliver would do a series of videos of a customer taking delivery and explaining the different options that the trailer has so that those of us who are starting to have Alzheimer can review the videos and remember what was said. The other issue i had was that Oliver no longer gives the customer the manuals for the different systems that the unit has. Its all online at the University link. But if you dont have wifi you cant access them especially if you are boondocking so i guess the next best is to download each manual to your cloud account. Lastly the trip was fine, nd the Oliver pulled extremely well even without the Anderson hitch which was one of my do i get or not...1 point

It’s hard to imagine calling somebody who owns a small uber-quality $60k trailer cheap...... But I am frugal in other things.... I suspect it is the non-frugal people who buy new stick built trailers that lose all their value in a few years.... one reason I picked an Ollie is that they do not depreciate much. Frugal is good, cheap is not. John Davies Spokane WA1 point

Yes, but, when my friends ask me to move the Ollie so that he can get his truck out at 5 am I'm not so happy. Perhaps we should have thought about that prior to that first glass of ....... Bill1 point

It can be done. Currently you would Only hear a DVD sound when played through the TV but broadcast TV would only come from the TVs built in speakers. One possible work around would be using an Apple TV (feeding into the Furion aux input ) that you put on a wifi network from an iPad. iPads work much better than iPhones for picture quality as they have a better video chip. Then you would get Netflix, Hulu , HBO, some free CBS and ABC NEWS ETC. BUT ASSUMING YOU JUST WANT TO HEAR BROADCAST TV... 1. First come out of the optical digital out port on your TV using a optical cable. I suggest a wire world 6 cable or better. 2. Run the other end of the optical cable into a DAC you can buy a small one from CEntrance (the Mini -M8) and there are many other manufacturers. Run the output from the DAC into your Furion Aux input. Set your Furion to Aux when you play the TV to hear the sound from the TV. THIS IS OF COURSE...asssuming your the TV has a optical out but 95% of them do. I hope that helps. When I get my Oliver I'm putting in an amazingly clear audiophile grade HIFi and I'm going to replace the TV with something much better. I am going to use McIntosh Car amplifiers that have great parametric EQ modules so I can tailor the sound to overcome much of the acoustic short comings of the being in a fiberglass bread loaf shape. I will either use Boelender Greabner Neo 10 planar magnetic flat midranges or Scan Speak 12 Midranges, a special flat woofer from SB Acoustics, and super high quality tweeters. Head unit will be the Nakamichi TP -1200 tuner preamplifier. Sadly the speakers face down instead out out towards the listeners ears on the Olivers...not sure why this was done as it is not at all ideal for sound intelligibility which is particularly important to people as they age.1 point

Lol. We've done a little bit of driveway camping visiting family. And, isn't it nice to head out to your own house on wheels at the end of the evening? We bring our own bed, no suitcases dragging in and out... I don't feel like we are imposing quite so much. They (and we) can still go about normal house routine without someone else in the mix. Even though we take up some driveway space... Sherry1 point

I know a fair number of owners use a couple of "runners" all year round. I'm among them not only because I find a rug a bit more comfortable on the tootsies but it is easier to clean the floor by just taking the rugs outside, giving them a shake of two and laying them down again. Sure beats a vacuum and/or the old broom thing. Bill1 point

We left mom's house on Monday and headed south down the Oregon Coast. Being that there was a volcano that went off in Indonesia, Tuesday and Wednesday were supposed to top out with 26' swells, so we headed to Brookings to one of our favorite campgrounds and spent a couple of nights at Harris State Beach and watched the huge waves pound the shoreline. This Campground is open year round but a lot of it is closed off during the Winter and this time there was only one spot open with the ocean view because of the work going on and we came in at just the right time. Lot's of fun and stopping to see the large waves come pounding in was breathtaking :) On our way down we found "Stray Cat City", in Gold Beach Oregon, located on the North Jetty. Brookings is right on the line between California and Oregon and we were heading home and once again saying good by to the Pacific Ocean...1 point
