  1. Molin - Welcome to the Forum! Besides reading through the posts by fellow members, you can also go to the Oliver University (left click on "Home" at the top of this page, then left click on "resources" and the left click on "Oliver University". As you read, if there is something that doesn't make sense drop a question here. Also, at some point you may wish to call the Oliver Sales Staff. Unlike most other companies that you have probably dealt with, the Oliver Staff will not pressure or "bug" you. Finally, you might also want to ask the Oliver Sales Staff to put you in touch with a current Oliver owner who is willing to give you a tour of their Ollie. While Olivers are not suited for everyone, they are certainly a great canvas that can be tailored to many different styles of camping/RVing. Bill

  2. Hi everyone, I just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I’ve been interested in travel trailers and RV systems for a while and recently started learning more about the technical side of things, especially electrical setups, batteries, and solar systems. I don’t own an Oliver yet, but I’ve been researching different trailer options and the Oliver models caught my attention because of their fiberglass construction and overall build quality. I’m also really interested in how people are setting up lithium batteries, solar charging, and energy management for off-grid camping. There seems to be a lot of great knowledge in this community, so I’m looking forward to learning from everyone here. Thanks for having me and I’m excited to be part of the forum.

  3. This newest change only applies to the $5/month Standby plan. The $50 and $165 plans still allow roaming at speeds under 100 MPH (down from speeds up to 450 MPH, which has angered private aviation. Now there are new $350/month or $1000/month aviation plans.)

  4. FOR SURE ON THE TOUR! It is THE best way to understand "what's under the sheets". And that of course can be a lot of fun, and standing there with the upper three hull layers you get a chance to ask some really good questions! GJ

  5. It's a minor issue, but sitting at the dinette or lying in bed we found the touch lights can be glaringly bright. I discovered that a 4" PVC sewer-pipe connector has a flange that is the ideal diameter for slipping over the touch light to create a light shade. To create a shade I cut off the flange from a connector using the band saw. This is the cut end that slips over the light... This is the finished end that becomes the bottom of the shade: The shade slips over the light and stays in place with a friction fit, but a bit of 3M double stick tape provides insurance: Dinette touch light, without shade: Dinette light, with shade: Galley lights, with shades: Shade installation does not appear to have any effect on light operation--they still turn on and off by touch. I suppose that the flanges could be cut with a hand saw (hack saw, coping saw?), which would likely require some additional filing and sanding. Also, the shades could be painted white, but for now we've stuck with plain black.

  6. Here’s the latest as of this week. Probably gonna change any day again… BTW, these guys are a wealth of information, and owned an Oliver several years ago.

  7. I rewired my D35 due to intermittent brake disconnects. I know of one other owner who did the same (and first told me of the solution). When I pulled the wires there were several spots where the insulation was gone. There was about 3 or 4 feet of excess wire and my theory is that it was bunched up causing it to rub inside the axle. Once a new wire was zip tied to the outside of the axle my intermittent disconnect disappeared. It’s obviously not a common problem and I wouldn’t change anything or rerun the wires if there were no issues. I’ve now got the D52 axles and they are wired however the factory wired them. Mike

  8. Just wire it as designed. I'm surprised to see issues with the OEM wiring internal to the axles. How many have rewired due to actual failure of the wiring vs. worry. When I removed our 10-year-old D35 axles there was nothing wrong with the internal brake wiring. I have a old dual axle flat bed trailer that we used for hauling dirt bikes and our SxS. I restored it 8 years ago, all 100% new wiring and I added brakes on one axle since it did not have brakes. I ran the wire across inside the axle as designed. Anything exterior, especially something "wire-tied" can be easily torn of from road debris! If my brand new D52 axles ever get shorted brake wiring, which is an extremely low likelihood, I will run new wire right down the axle where it belongs. Just my opinion. 😎

  9. If you have lithium batteries (LiFePO4), the usual recommendation for winter storage is a bit different from lead-acid batteries. Most lithium battery manufacturers suggest storing them at about 40–60% state of charge rather than keeping them fully charged all winter. A common approach is: • Charge the batteries to around 50–60% • Turn off the main battery disconnect (or disconnect the batteries) • Avoid leaving them on a continuous 120V charger unless the charger has a proper lithium storage/float mode Lithium batteries have very low self-discharge, so they can usually sit for several months without any problem. The main thing is to prevent parasitic loads from slowly draining them. Also, if temperatures get very cold, it's best not to charge lithium batteries below freezing unless the battery has a built-in heating system. Many RV owners simply disconnect the batteries and check the charge level once or twice during the winter.

  10. @molin Welcome to the fourm! As @topgun2 stated Oliver goes the extra mile to provide a mountain of information and vids to owners and prospective owners. I think you would be hard pressed to find any other TT company that provides this wealth of information. Don’t forget that Oliver also has an Oliver Travel Trailer FB forum which has a lot of daily activity regarding Oliver TT. There is also a preowned Oliver FB page as well where great deals can be found. If you can and time allows, consider a tour of the Oliver production plant in Hohenwald, Tennessee. If you have questions ask away!

  11. When I replaced my factory D35 axles with D52's last year, the brake wiring was an option. Based on other OTTO experience’s repairing the brake wiring inside the axles, I chose pigtails for each hub and used hose clamps to attach PVC conduit to the axle and ran the wiring through the conduit. Was that the right thing to do? Time will tell! Mossey

  12. Thanks, I checked out the remote controller, and found the setting thanks. I also tried the FXC app, I thought that would be cool. After playing and looking thing up for 1/2 a day, I found out the remote controller the was shipped with the Oli doesn't have the bluetooth function. Not sure if I will spend the $100 for a new controller to have a cool function.
