  2. Was just informed by Anita that they CAN put in the fold up TV at no additional labor cost. They will credit for the standard TV, and charge for the one they use. What that means I have inquired, but have not got an answer yet. That sounds like it has been approved and should be of interest to a lot of forum members...

  3. Good info. The deadbolt does work much more easily for me than the other lock.

  4. Stan, our city / state in the old forum showed up in the avatar space. for now, vyou can put that info in your signature. Go to your profile, click on the gear gizmo, and change your signature settings. I miss that old feature, too. I'll ask Matt about it. Sherry

  5. Oh, I hate to be the guy who says , be cautious, but I must be here. A secure website is so tough these days. Ya hoo has been hacked recently, as well as other major sites. And, we have all heard so many unfortunate stories, but I will add another. My cousin recently lost 2000$ plus to a phisher. Please be cautious , and don't put your personal info out there in public view on any website or forum. For that matter, you can easily create a secondary email for forum websites. Don't use the same forum name and password on all sites. It can be tracked. And for goodness sake, don't use the same password on every site, and especially not banking sites. There's a reason for layers of privacy on forums. if you want to share private emaail or phone numbers, please do so through private messaging. I know a lot of us think of the forum as our sandbox. But, the bots are constantly scanning forum posts ... Here and everywhere. your post is out there possibly forever, with bot scans and caches. Even if you later delete it. Just my two cents, for what it is worth... Please, in today's world, be cautious. Sherry

  6. Hi Sherry. I have the standard white rv lock with remote key fob that I installed myself but had a little trouble finetuning the fit. ( A mechanic I am not) This was in December, 2010. About this same time, I looked for somebody with fiberglass rv experience to install the silver bubble insulation inside the cabinets of Revilo. (One of the best decisions I have made to insulate the cabinets above.) Anyway, back to the topic of discussion. I did find an individual who could install the insulation and fix the lock so that it would open and close with ease. He did an excellent job. I use the key but I am glad that I have the choice to use the remote keyless entry if I want. I am not sure that the particular styles I see now online were available in 2010. I am perfectly happy with this rv lock and at the moment see no reason to update.

  7. I would be interested to see how these work out for anyone that order these. The only issue I seem to have with my Oliver is the door locks....they can be hard to open, and I think it is because the door gasket needs to be compressed to get the door closed tightly, making the door lock sometimes hard to turn with a key. I wonder if the battery and electronic mechanism is strong enough to overcome this.

  8. I would like for our city and /or state to show up on our avatar. I asked Matt if this could be done (of course it can) and he said it would go on his, to do, list but that was many months ago. I know some may not want their information listed, but if he made it a optional item, that would take care of those folks. It's nice when reading someones post to see where they are from without looking up their profile. Can I get any help on this issue? Stan

  9. If you get the ramps that I have you will not have any trouble with any bike you buy. I have owned many motorcycles and wouldn't have a problem loading anything that will fit in a pick-up.

  10. We have found so many advantages to travel camping. We can take our little dog. We don't have to pack and unpack. We almost never make reservations, and just find a spot... We carry our own bedding, creature comforts, and our kind of food. Not to say we don't eat out on the road, as we love to explore local restaurants, but we don't have to. Biggest joys of camping are living close to nature and the views, in the company of just ourselves, or like-minded people. We've shared many campfires with friends and strangers who become friends. Campers are the best, and we treasure the friendships we have made on the road, and especially on this forum. Aubrey, pete, Chuck n Geri, Larry and Betty, Herm and Kim, Tom and Karen, lois, Steve n tali, paul and Delores, and many more... We've worked together, camped together, broken bread together, toasted marshmellows and chopped firewood.. figured our path in new for us frontiers. None of us, except Lois, knew each other before the forum. All different backgrounds and zip codes, but many of us have become lifetime friends. So, I can just simplify, and say, I love camping because of the people, and the very enriching personal experience.

  11. J-Rhett, I've read a number of studies regarding the economics of the RV travel. In the main it seems that these studies argue that between the initial cost plus yearly maintenance, the cost of gas, the cost of fuel, etc. the monetary "savings" to be gained by owning an RV are not terribly great and may even be higher than some other types of travel. I'm sure that one can argue this and depending on one's "normal" lifestyle traveling in an RV may or may not be more expensive. In any case, money is not the main reason I chose to mostly travel via an RV, but, it sure can help. Similar to owning and traveling via motorcycle, there is a sense of being self sufficient and not having to rely on others for my basic needs, comfort, and, ability to get to places I want to see or things I want to do. Indeed, not only is this accomplished, but, many times an RV also allows me to be even closer to places that I enjoy (forests, hiking, fishing, nature, etc.). I basically see it this way - without an RV (or camping in general), one is pretty much stuck with seeking out motels/hotels and, therefore, staying in towns of some sort or staying home. As I see it, there are a number of "problems" associated with all three of these - some of which you have pointed out. On to your questions - Most I ever paid for a night of camping was at the KOA in Jackson, WY ($60/night for a space just big enough to put my tent on and this was right at 10 years ago too). Problems while on the road - I'd be willing to bet that those of us that have spent any time at all "on the road" have had problems. However, in hindsight, these "problems" are part of what makes life interesting and in some cases even exciting. I'm not saying that I go looking for problems or even enjoy these things when they occur, but, it sure does make life interesting and that sure beats sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch. I try to prepare as best I can to be able to take care of whatever "problems" that might crop up. Bill Sometimes you just have to call for help!
