  1. We're Tom amd Marie Martin and we're "soon to be" new Oliver owners of a Legacy Elite II (twin bed model). Our Hull No. will be #382 and we are excited to be joining the Oliver family. We have owned "several"different campers from a motor home to tag a-longs and fifth wheels since we began camping approximately 40 years ago. We visited the factory last October after hearing about the quality of Oliver Travel Trailers and .... long story short...we were amazed. Can't wait to meet fellow owners on the road and at the rallies. Tom and Marie Martin ( tomar)

  2. UPPER SUNSHINE RESERVOIR. The area around Cody is insanely busy in summer, and finding a place to stay that doesn't require a reservation and $50 per night is very hard, especially if you do not have a fixed arrival date. It is one of the main "feeder towns" that tourists go through on the way to Yellowstone and Tetons. We wanted to revisit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and avoid the Parks, but we could not find a place to camp. A little research turned up this gem.... About 30 miles south lies Meeteetse WY, and due west are a couple of irrigation reservoirs; while both offer camping and water access, the jewel is the Upper Sunshine Reservoir, the western-most one. It takes about half an hour to drive there from the town, along a stunning valley with views of the jagged glaciated mountains south of Yellowstone. Most of the access road is high speed WY highway. The last 4 miles are well maintained gravel and dirt (possibly very slick when wet, definitely dusty when not). Location map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Upper+Sunshine+Reservoir/@43.968422,-109.1090158,11z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x534c5725b1e82ec9:0x278afb15aaf5ba06!8m2!3d44.0490298!4d-109.0627262 Run by the Wyoming Department of Fish and Wildlife, it is a well maintained area with lots of dispersed camping, a boat ramp, pit toilet and lots of fish. It is definitely brown bear country, and you must take appropriate food precautions, but all we saw were antelope and a little Jack Russell terrier that repeatedly weeweed on Mouse's wheel. It is very popular on weekends. Midweek, it is not crowded. Most of the day-fishermen pack up and leave by 400 pm. We elected to camp on the shoulder near the (non-busy) boat ramp because we were worried about thunderstorms. Some of the dispersed spots would be very greasy after a heavy rain and we needed to be gone by 700 AM to get to the Buffalo Bill museum by 800 am when it opened. Even in summer there were a lot of birds including some American Avocet, which has a cool "Doppler Shift" call and curved up bill, and we had never encountered any of those before. The sky was threatening and overcast, and we had a brief downpour at midnight, so we could not do any star gazing, but it should be a great location for that in better weather. Timelapse sunset: https://youtu.be/N8ejZg49EWQ Highly, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you are in the Cody area! Five stars, well maintained, isolated, free. Meeteetse is a pleasant, prosperous little community with a Conoco and a chocolatier, so it is a good spot to refuel the truck and the wife before heading to the Cody Mess. The highlight of the Cody Firearm Museum for me was: The Colt Navy 1861 revolver, serial number 1: [attachment file=IMG_6752.jpg] ...and the Longmire tv show display. Here is Walt's badge: ...and the entire display with his Winchester and 1911, and Vic's Glock and badge; I need to rewatch the series now..... John Davies Spokane WA

  3. That spot sure beats the spot i had in the Cody Walmart last summer. You can easily spend the day in that museum, we spent about 5 hours there and had to move on. I highly recommend it if you are in the area - https://centerofthewest.org/explore/buffalo-bill/

  4. Yes, a nest was built in mine while at a campsite for just three nights. I had to take the cover off to get the best out. Just four Phillips screws to remove the cover. I used my Telesteps ladder on one side and 6ft. step ladder on the other. The cover is very light and I removed it without getting on the roof. I used 1/4 x 1/4 hardware cloth to make the three pieces necessary to cover all of the large openings and I attached them with black cable ties. The two side pieces (left hand and right hand) are bent in 90deg to cover both vertical and horizontal openings, and one piece at the rear to cover the vertical openings. I wouldn’t use anything with smaller openings like window screen material as I would think that it could cause excessive airflow restrictions.

  5. Yes. About 4 years ago, I noticed a trashy looking nest at the bottom street side corner of my Elite's A/C. The mess was cleaned out using a 6 foot ladder, skinny grabbing tools, skinny poking items and several copious streams of water from the hose nozzle. A quick search on Google or Amazon will help you find several options for a cover for your specific A/C size. While a 6 ft ladder worked on my Elite, an Elite II may require a taller one. As long as you do not stand above the "do not stand above this step" line, ensure the feet are firmly grounded you should do OK unless you are accident prone. A spotter may be a good idea as well. My A'C sits way back on the trailer and was easily reached. These outer shells are very strong and load bearing if you need to "get up there". If that is the case, use a spotter to support the ladder as you ascend and descend. Also, be sure to remove any clothing items that might scratch the gelcoat, such as belts or shoes with metal buckles or eyelets. Have your spotter help guide your foot to the ladder as you descend. Slow and easy does it. Putting the cover on is a bit of a hassle but is better than having damage done. I only had minor damage done to some of the styrofoam around the unit. I caught it before anything major was done. Good luck and be careful.

  6. We’ve got one in ours right now and I thank you for reminding me. I need to get up there and get it out before we leave for Winnipeg. I’ll get up there and take the shroud off the unit and do whatever it takes to remove the nest. It’s safe to walk on the roof, it will bear your weight. I’ve never seen a commercial screen but I made one for our previous Oliver’s A/C unit.

  7. Thank you Mike (& Carol) for the feedback! We had not heard of that app & will definitely add it to our resources. Thank you Mike (& Krunch)! Yes, we are going to Jacksonville. You & Krunch are too, right? I hope so! I believe we're in site O-21. And yes, this is a warm up for Alaska trip. If you see hull #292 go up for sale in January, you'll know it didn't go well. :)
