A suggestion to Truma about the Aventa A/C....
Patriot replied to Mike and Jill's topic in General Discussion
@Mike and Jill I called and spoke to a super nice Truma customer service rep named Sherry. She said that there are no plans to update the Truma Aventa AC fan to cycle off after the unit has cooled the interior down. According to Sherry, it is necessary for the Truma fan to continually run to enable the internal thermostat to measure and monitor interior temperature. So no change in the works. Honestly the low speed fan running does not bother us. We really are happy with our Truma. Other info: I asked if Truma was going to sell or incorporate a soft start for the 13.5 Aventa? She said no, that installing a soft start would cancel out any remaining warranty. Happy Cool Travels! -
Now youβre talking! πππ»

Bill, Youβre always welcome to come by and take a look under XPLOR. Yes it has cross-members.
-
My local Dexter rep told me the yellow paint swatch is to quickly identify a particular spring in their warehouse. I noticed the painted end is also where the leafs are steel banded together.
-
@MAX Burner After talking with @rideandfly I went out to the Ollie Hangar and rolled up under βXPLORβ and took a good hard look at ALL the frame/chassis welds. All appear to be solid. Like anything thing else a regular visual inspection should be a part of regular maintenance checklist. βStack of dimesβ. β

Nice job Bill! Please post up how often you need to empty your dehumidifier. We usually empty ours about every 5 days or so. Ours sits down on the floor in front of the closet door. We can just open the door, turn off the Pro Breeze and empty it.
-
Neat article, thanks for posting. David
-
We empty our Pro Breeze condensate tank usually about every 5 days. It has an auto shut off in the any event if we are delayed in emptying it. So far we have had zero issues with mold or mildew and we factor this into our maintenance cost keeping XPLOR mold and mildew free during high seasonal high humidity. We donβt run the dehumidifier below 45 degrees or in the winter months.

It will look better than new Bill, great work on locating a solid shop. ππ»π

John, Consider a can of compressed air to help clear the window tracks of debris. This has worked well for me in the past. ππ»

@John Dorrer John, we used a cover prior to our Ollie Hangar and pool noodles really worked well on the sharp 90 degree solar panel and rear bumper corners. I found that using a little gaffers tape to secure the pool noodles really helped keep the noodle in place. The gaffers tape is similar to duct tape but will not leave a glue residue when you remove it. here - https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Premium-Grade-Gaffer-Power/dp/B00LMNYFHI/ref=sr_1_6?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.kVU2X4gKhAp6LTbtD0ttAYQB5ypdxczKUApEmnFt6fD5VBRqjwKwhy30PsFfnY3tcTYrM11BcDq3_tHS3JMVU0Y0RpgcHlthTbBqwkbZ52MSkiuhghrQ136AWEalaXMrLHqS5eAJFNc18IFrwDY39tAXU9ybQPGDBl6gBtuMq6PbzvatViHzFxYmxu-G9GfRH5hQlQjaT_hWOFZXUuKO0uCFgCZ7I8luHGGFBTPixWVrIxVg60NB0_uKiUtWtbYg11HMHbwCY9XoNWvjYMI9_1OWstopxowoxhg30ZgTsOc.Jql5lqpSwwFO6oKrJgeMn0-MCkddi8Kyt96QgcAVnSI&dib_tag=se&hvadid=634419446280&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9009957&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=1250299019061540131&hvtargid=kwd-10053117&hydadcr=6394_13298173&keywords=gaffer+tape&qid=1712369909&s=industrial&sr=1-6

@John Welte To answer your original question on the best portable electric dehumidifier. I am sure there are other options out there, but this is what we use and it has worked great for the last few years. We also really like how quickly our Truma in dehumidify mode works. We also keep our frig door slightly cracked open during storage while running the dehumidifier. Naturally mold and mildew usually will not thrive with moving air. https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Breeze-Electric-Dehumidifier-Portable/dp/B01HXVUT7C/ref=pd_bxgy_d_sccl_1/142-3394087-9918246?pd_rd_w=FhzcQ&content-id=amzn1.sym.2b132e63-5dcd-4ba1-be9f-9e044543d59f&pf_rd_p=2b132e63-5dcd-4ba1-be9f-9e044543d59f&pf_rd_r=S2BGQD30T201BAZKD05G&pd_rd_wg=P44kG&pd_rd_r=624683bb-794c-4efb-b5ee-829214442647&pd_rd_i=B01HXVUT7C&psc=1

According to the new brochure (linked) it shows the Truma Aventa in the photo on the OLEll at 9β 8β. Our 2020 LEll has the 16β wheels. I believe in late 22 YM and 23, and 24 YM Oliver went to the smaller wheel/tire set up which would reduce overall height. I have never measured the exact height of XPLOR post our Truma install. Given the slight slope or drop where the new fiberglass foundation to accommodate the Truma retro fit was installed, I will go with what Oliver states as the overall height being 9β 8β. This is also listed in the 24 YM info packet. here- https://olivertraveltrailers.com/travel-trailers/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwn7mwBhCiARIsAGoxjaIXJnMBHitUfd5XEnvEsEIi3T8dGClqwAk2LL7Bl9L5W_LKGy6ufhQaAvv5EALw_wcB

When we visited the Great Sand Dunes there was a really neat 30 minute movie talking all about the natural phenomenon that occurs in this part of CO. I did not commit all the information to memory, but here is the explanation of how Mother Nature created the Dunes which we both thought was pretty cool. π In a snap shot - Wind from the northeast funnels through the Sangre de Christo Mountains and pushes against the opposing southwestern winds, which erodes additional sand from the mountain sides and brings it into the dune system. Wait there is more- https://www.usgs.gov/index.php/geology-and-ecology-of-national-parks/great-sand-dunes-national-park-and-preserve#:~:text=Wind from the northeast funnels,it into the dune system.

How to Tilt/angle roof solar panels on newer Ollies?
Patriot replied to rich.dev's topic in Ollie Modifications
Certainly an ambitious undertaking and I look forward to what you come up with. With over 20,000 miles on our Oliver I have never seen the need to tilt our panels. They have always kept our AGMs topped off and working great. That said, Mod On! π -
My bride at the great sand dunes last Oct 23rd. If you think people look really close while visiting the dunes..well they are not. Donβt ask me how I know. π

What exterior caulk is the factory using now?
Patriot replied to Townesw's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Thanks @Townesw I just saw this and I keep a tube of ASI 335 handy especially while traveling. ππ» -
Ok, so as far as I know, you would keep your same size Ubolts unless you upgrade to the 5200# axles. The 5200# axles are larger in diameter.
-
Does your trailer have 5200# axles? This Ubolt is what Dexter recommends for the larger 5200# axle.
-
Having had our entire suspension upgraded to new 5200# axles and all new running gear last Oct by Oliver, I have opted to purchase and just carry a spare leaf pack and new Ubolt. We have a local Dexter shop and they had plenty of 4 leaf spring packs in stock. So for $61.76 I purchased a spare leaf pack. I provided the tech with the SNβs of both my axles and requested a spec print or what I call a birth certificate my axles. This info goes into our travel binder. I would highly recommend getting this info from Dexter as it could come in handy while on the road. Hopefully I will never need to replace a broken spring. But itβs not the end of the world if I do. Only having 500 miles on my completely brand new 5200# suspension, and the low number of reported 4 leaf pack failures, and not wanting to ditch my 5 yr Dexter warranty by installing SOB, I opted to roll with this path forward. After my 5 yr Dexter warranty runs out I may opt to do something different. Maybe just add the Dexter 5 leaf pack for $279.80 plus tax and 4 new Ubolts. As far as I know there have not been any reported failures of the 5 leaf pack. I do think the Alcan spring is likely a fine product and only time will tell with owner feedback. Itβs just not how I am choosing to move forward at this time. Cheers! And Go Camping! π Patriot This will pack up easily in my truck bed. Torque specs provided by Dexter.
