  1. That is, indeed, my kind of snow. Though, if I don't have to go anywhere, I personally don't mind if it hangs on a few days. I shoveled plenty if snow in Minnesota and Iowa. I never have to shovel the heat out if my Florida driveway. 😉
  2. Our accountant told us we could only file for one second home installation in a tax year. (You should ask yours, too. I'm definitely not a qualified tax expert.) So, we did the house one year, the boat another. New rv system another. There's nothing on the solar credit tax form that indicates having a mortgage. But, you must own, not lease, the pv (solar) system. (This is applicable for sticks and bricks home, where many people lease their pv system. The lessor gets the tax credit.)
  3. I am so happy that the LE1 is getting the Lithionics Lithium option. 260 ah is a lot of energy for our trailers. Thanks for all the info, Fritz. I don't know how many of you look at the FitRv blog or youtubes, but Jim and Stef installed lithionics over four years ago, and I'm pretty sure that's what's going into their new Winnebago, as well. I dug up this info from their original install. (Jim's actually a real rocket scientist/aerospace engineer, but he's pretty entertaining, and keeps the info down to a level I understand.) https://www.thefitrv.com/rv-tips/our-generator-free-rv-lithium-battery-solar-alternator-and-inverter/ Sherry
  4. I don't know how I missed this, but the 2020 26 per cent tax credit has been extended to 2021 and 2022, instead if the reduced rate.(signed into law into December.) It appears that some in Congress may also be looking at allowing a deduction for "stand alone storage." Not yet, but we'll see. https://www.forbes.com/sites/ashleaebeling/2020/12/21/go-solar-enhanced-residential-solar-tax-breaks-in-year-end-spending-package-as-part-of-clean-energy-push/ Sherry
  5. Pretty snow, Bill. I'm looking forward to summer, and camping again, too.
  6. Our "newest" tow vehicle is a 2008 dodge ram 1500, 4x4, hemi. It has the idiot lights that show low pressure, but not tire pressure numbers. Still valuable. No way to monitor trailer tires. I am in the camp of --if you own a reliable vehicle, with proper ratings, run it til you really, really find something else you want. Or, in our case, we hope to run ours til it dies. I'm excited, and also concerned, about all the new tech in trucks. As in, if the truck always "backs in for you", how do you learn when it "doesn't ", because some board component fails? (More for new people than us, obviously. ) Conversely, I will have to say, that I love the new safety features of newer vehicles, that we obviously do not have, like blind side monitor, always on rear camera, pexestrian awareness, etc. And, hopefully, someday when I'm less confident about driving, the autopilot programs will be perfected. I know it's been really, really difficult for my mom since she gave up her driver's license. My two cents. Probably worth the same.
  7. We do use Mothers Back to Black on body trim. And, we like it. It lasts several months in Florida sun. I haven't tried Griot's tire dressing, but I love their leather cleaner, and leather dressing. It's not "greasy." I use it on my leather sofas and chairs, and really like it.
  8. Interesting. When we got our GoodSam's policy, I think the full replacement was for the first three or five years only. I'll have to look at our actual policy again. Pretty sure GMAC was the underwriter back in 2008. I don't have any complaints about GoodSam's. They've kept the price fair, for 13 years. Well, a small complaint on the roadside assistance policy. But it's just an annoyance. They like to renew you 90 days ahead of time, and send a bunch of emails....
  9. I've read that "Back to Black" isn't slippery. I may try that. On my side, only, first. Not the passenger side. We've used it on black trim, so I already have it.
  10. Welcome to the Oliver family. I hope you don't have a long drive in the weather we've been experiencing across the country, lately. Glad you got the time to watch the videos. They really have helped many people. We'll look forward to photos of your new Ollie.
  11. If it doesn't, I have found it pretty easy to change out the curtain in the rvs we delivered to Alaska. (I hate the new plastic smell.) Same number if grommets. I just buy a peva or fabric curtain at tjmaxx, cut it with my shears to length. I fold the stinky supplied one, put it in a bag, and store it in a cabinet. The camping world curtains are expensive, imo. Let us know, for other future owners. (We're in the no curtain camp.)
  12. I've never heard of them before. I see it has user replaceable batteries. Which is a double edged sword. No need to send away for service, but from what I've read, they can be more problematic than sealed units. We have had consistently fast, excellent service from truck systems (tst) in Georgia on our sealed units. But, that price is certainly appealing, and excellent reviews. I'd order two extra as backup, if it were me. But, it looks like only the set of 4 is on sale.
  13. Actually, if they aren't in business anymore, I think there are some highly skilled metal shop folks here who could build something similar, from the photos.... Sherry
  14. Oh, no! Running boards are really great, though I wish I had power ones that concealed. For my birthday, a year ago, Paul installed aftermarket running boards on my Silverado to make it easier for my mom. She loves them.
  15. That looks great, Townes. Thank you for sharing it.
  16. Thank you so much, mjrendon. That means a lot to all of us on the mod team.
  17. That is all very good advice. Our administration have been a big help in spa m control, as well, from a software controls standpoint. I'll add a big thanks here to jason and Matt, too. I would note that the scam posting of an Oliver hull # was a cut and paste of the original owner's old ad.
  18. Congratulations, Bill. I hope you enjoy your shorty as much as we have enjoyed ours for 13 seasons. Looks like better weather for unloading the truck and setting up today. At least some sunshine 🌞 I hope you'll get time to run through all the equipment during your stay. Tennessee is a beautiful place to camp, but February weather is iffy. You'll definitely get the chance to see how nice and toasty it is in the trailer in the 20s at night. 🙃 We'll look forward to photos, later.
  19. Welcome to the forum! So, your Oliver will be an early Christmas present... Plenty of time for planning trips in the meantime, right? There are lots of people here to answer any questions you have, in the meantime.
  20. That looks really nice! For temperate seasons and climates, awesome. But, does it require a Thule awning?
  21. As of a few minutes ago, we now have 5,000 members! Thanks to all of you who join and participate. Especially those of you who are so helpful in answering questions from new members. We appreciate all of you.
  22. Congratulations, and welcome. The waiting begins. Enjoy the videos on Oliver University. That will not only shorten the wait, but make you more prepared for a really fun pickup day. So, what are the frontrunner colors for the truck? We have one red, one grey. Both look great, pulling the Ollie. 🙂
  23. I agree. But, we don't even know if that's your issue. Yet. You do know that your warranty covers you, wherever you are, right?
  24. And, everyone who wants to, watches him for free. I don't begrudge him his revenue. At one time, he lived on his van, pretty much homeless. He's done the work, and if he makes money from ads, I'm certainly ok with that.
  25. Push in on the door. Then turn the key. Especially, if you're not quite level, side to side, and front to back. This is the same in every rv I've ever used. If the key is hard to turn, spray some of the silicone lube I told you about. Use the straw.
