  1. I agree; camping is much more enjoyable than worrying about battery SOC 😁
  2. Glad you mention the "new boat smell". This is the first thing we noticed when first stepping into our new Oliver. Not a bad smell, to me, as it brings back memories of my dad's workshop - the resin smell 😍 I expect it to dissipate some when the door and windows are open, but that won't be until we get a bit of better weather.
  3. I think LP tank theft is more prevalent while the RV is parked at home, depending on your location. My SIL had her tanks (with no cover) stolen while parked in her driveway in town; we live in a rural area, on a private road, so not too concerned. I agree with @Mike and Carol that 20# tanks are more vulnerable.
  4. Yes, we too were warned by the campground host . . . . . lesson learned: Heed the warnings of the camp hosts!
  5. One strong gut of wind can be just as serious as high sustained winds. Be aware, in certain areas of the country, sudden gusts can occur with little or no warning. We experienced this while eating dinner outside our camper van in Arco, ID a few years ago. . . . . .
  6. Us Oliver owners with the Lithium Pro Pkg who are less informed about power management (like us!) would benefit from instruction, be it from Oliver or Xantrex. Has anyone found a good source for such?
  7. I have not heard from Oliver regarding our open ticket on the "20 code". I need to ask Jason how the update is going. We don't use the inverter often, but I do like the convenience of the remote display for knowing what's going on in the charging system, although the hieroglyphic language it speaks is sometimes confusing 😁 Is the software cutoff you mention talked about in the existing manual? In what situation do you use that feature?
  8. I agree. We hauled two kayaks on the floor of our 5th wheel . . . . . and sometimes as third bike in the bedroom . . . . . definitely a pain.
  9. Determined to use our 1up rack, here's what we did, using this
  10. 10-15 minutes for hot water, when on propane. I showered and washed my hair and still had hot water. And the hot water recovers quickly if LP is on. Compared to the Truma we had in our previous RV, the standard tank heater gets the water much hotter, in my opinion. With the Truma, we had to have the hot tap open full and the cold tap off to get shower appropriate hot water temp, and then the temperature fluctuated. I much prefer the tank heater; and you can run it on electric when connected to shore power.
  11. Standard Girard awning has the LED light strip!
  12. We got lucky this week . . . . . with three days of sunny weather forecast, we decided on a last minute trip to a nearby State Park to do some biking. Checked in at 4:30 on a Monday; there were 8 sites available. We went ahead and reserved our site for the following night, as it hadn't been reserved yet. By the time we pulled out Wednesday afternoon, all open sites were reserved. Looks like we might be doing a lot of boondocking or something other than state parks for a while. At least we are both retired, so can go mid-week, though it doesn't really seem to matter what day it is!
  13. West, where Sept and October is some of the best camping weather. We'll be on the lookout for you 😁
  14. Yeah . . . . . done that too!
  15. I actually like the looks of the black gaskets 👍
  16. In respect to crowds at the dump station, it sometimes pays to check out early and avoid the line.
  17. I find it frustrating that we are now owners of a quality trailer, but have limited opportunities to enjoy our previous adventures, especially camping in State/National parks. I do hope that, once the RV "fad frenzy" has subsided, we can again pull into our favorite campground in the middle of the week and find a vacancy.
  18. There will most certainly be an overabundance of used RV's as the "Covid Campers" tire of RV life. Those in the market for a used SOB would definitely benefit from waiting.
  19. And don't forget the grey tank valve in the bathroom . . . . if not closed (in), you will arrive at your next destination with a full shower pan.
  20. We chose to not add the Omni-directional antenna. Aside from an occasional DVD movie when foul weather forces us indoors, we watch very little television while camping. With TV/movie streaming becoming more prevalent, I would question whether the Omni-directional antenna will be a very popular option in the future. Without it, there is one less thing on the roof which leaves room to expand the solar capacity, if that is important to you.
  21. I don't think this affects any of the Oliver tires. I checked the Cooper site and the Discoverer tires being recalled are all 18"; Oliver's are 16" https://us.coopertire.com/CooperTireUSConsumer2017/media/Miscellaneous/Voluntary-Recall-172-Consumer-Letter-USA-(NHTSA-Approved-6-10-2019).pdf
  22. 3M also makes a good marine fiberglass/gel coat restorer and protectant: https://www.amazon.com/3M-09005-Marine-Restorer-Wax/dp/B0000AY65X/ref=pd_rhf_dp_p_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2VJ0S4J967QA31EBVEA1 There are several formulations, depending on the degree of oxidation. We use this (for light oxidation) to restore and protect our fiberglass tub/shower. Works great for built up soap scum.
  23. This is our boondocking toaster . . . . Dixon, made in New Zealand . . . . . makes great toast.
  24. 2021 cabinet is different . . . . . only a light in the ceiling. The outlet in the overhead cabinet is not duplex, to prevent plugging in something else while microwave is running, which would probably trip the circuit.
  25. Our cabinet (2021 E2) doesn't have the access port . . . . . . I don't think . . . . . I'll check again, to be sure . . . . . . tomorrow, after daylight!
