Suburban RV furnaces s*ck!
Steph and Dud B replied to routlaw's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
My first thought is a bad sail switch. Air from the fan blows on the sail switch, which tells the controller that air is moving. That in turn tells it that it's OK to start the ignitor to light the flame. After the fan starts can you hear the ignitor clicking? Fan running but no ignitor makes me suspect the sail switch. OTOH, if you hear the ignitor clicking but no flame kick in, I'd suspect a propane problem. -
RV Cold Weather Certification
Steph and Dud B replied to Steph and Dud B's topic in General Discussion
It's OK. They collect them when they fall out of the trees on cold days in Florida. -
With the exception of our delivery trip to Hohenwald, all the trips we planned this year are within 5 hours of home, so we got lucky there.

There was no Truma A/C option for our 2022 with a June delivery date.

Truma has come up with a cold weather certification process for RVs. Details in the attached article. Would be interesting to see how Olivers performed. https://www.rvtravel.com/company-certify-rvs-winterization-test-rvt-1046b/

Emergency window screen replacement
Steph and Dud B replied to Citrus breeze's topic in General Discussion
Don't remove them. They're springs. Put the top edge of the screen back in place, then place the lower edge in position. Push up on the lower edge a little to compress the upper spring clips a bit, then gently pop the lower edge into place with the heel of your other hand. -
An eggstensive list...

You're eggaggerating! 😁

We now have a hull number, and a name. Hull #1150 shall be called... Eggcelsior. (With a tip of the hat to our neighbors in NY!) 😃

The issue may have been that there were no double-pane swing out RV windows at first. Now they are available and and are in use by some of the other fiberglass RV manufacturers. Maybe they'll be included in the re-design of the Elite...? I was trying to figure out some sort of homemade shield to temporarily protect the screens from rain but @Minnesota Oli far outclassed anything I could have come up with. I'd be willing to pay a pretty penny for something like that.

Our first trip impressions
Steph and Dud B replied to Nick and Linda Stratigakis's topic in General Discussion
Excellent report. Thank you. -
Count us in as an interested party if you decide to sell these. We've been looking for something like this. Brilliant!

For those who picked up their 2022 Elite 2: which brand awning came installed on your 2022 trailer? Girard or Dometic? Oliver University doesn't list an awning manual for 2022.

Water Leak Somewhere under the Kitchen Sink Area
Steph and Dud B replied to Imelda's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Huh. If not, replacing its circuit breaker with a GFCI breaker might be an easy mod (if there's a compatible GFCI breaker available). Or, is there room in there for a wet location outlet cover? -
How many wheel studs?
Steph and Dud B replied to Steph and Dud B's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Unfortunately, living in the Corrosion Capital of Connecticut, sometimes the steel under the stainless jackets corrodes and they swell up. They'll look OK, but the wrench socket will bind. -
Super exciting! Have fun!

Planning to replace the stock clad lug nuts with solid chromed ones when we install our TPMS. Are there 5 lug nuts per wheel?

Last I heard, KTT isn't supplying mattresses for Oliver anymore. Our sales agreement wording changed from "KTT mattresses" to "High quality foam mattresses." Don't know who the new supplier is.

For those who took delivery recently, was the fridge running and cold when you got there? Wondering if the fridge will be ready to use the first night.

I'm confused. I thought Ollies were boats. Apparently yours can fly?! 😀 Nice looking truck/trailer (tug/aircraft?) combo. Congrats!

Your truck looks great. -
Water Leak Somewhere under the Kitchen Sink Area
Steph and Dud B replied to Imelda's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I don't think so. This connection would only leak when the faucet is on and water is flowing to the sprayer. The system would hold pressure with the faucet off and the pump would stop. -
Is a 2021 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 4x4 6.6L V8 Gas a Good TV?
Steph and Dud B replied to BeauDog's topic in Towing an Oliver
Had gas. Had diesel. Back to gas now. Loved towing with the diesel. Loved the costs of repairs less. Our gasser struggles a bit with our 9500# fifth wheel but I'm hoping it'll be a good match for the Ollie. We'll see.
