While I feel for those that do not have this same experience, I do believe that your experience is closer to the norm. That's a great sun pic! Bill

Not a bad cover and slightly "softer" than the Chicks version. I liked it.

A sad ending to a wonderful but short life for Ollie
topgun2 replied to Coastal Aggie's topic in General Discussion
There is a sad beauty in those pictures. We are all proud of our shiny new Olivers and tend to believe that they are "over built". But, the proof is in the pudding! It is in unfortunate situations like this that we can really be proud. Can you give us any idea of how the interior faired? I suspect that basically things were found intact. Bill -
They only seem overly bright until you almost step on that snake that is trying to warm itself on that nice black asphalt.😵

Nice Ollie - nice truck. Did you stop into Tractor Supply to get one of these hitch pins? They make pulling and inserting that pin a bunch easier.
-
Yep - and it is a bunch less expensive too. Note - either of these tools is used to either tighten or remove the back flow preventer if it is present by viewing (usually you have to use a light) into the city, fresh tank or winterization ports. I've been told that on newer model Ollies the back flow preventer valve has been moved further inboard. Bill

First thing I'd do is simply replace the hose washer - Take out that piece of rubber you mentioned above, put in a new hose washer and screw the hose (or black plug) back into the "city connection". Let us know how it goes. Bill

Disconnecting Power to install CO/Propane Detector
topgun2 replied to DonnaDuane's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Mine did/does but the fuse was only about 6-12 inches from the rear of the detector. If you are home - I would suggest installing a switch like both JD and I did so that when that detector goes off in the middle of the night you can turn it off quickly - after, of course, you have determined that it was a "false alarm". -
And - Exactly where might you be feeling around? Outside the hull? Inside the hull? How bad is it leaking - stream or fast drip? Do you have a !/2 inch Allen wrench handy - like THIS? Do you have spare hose washers handy? Bill

Starlink dish mount on Dometic awning brackets
topgun2 replied to RoadKingsofGA's topic in Ollie Modifications
I agree with Mike - thanks for the post. I too do not have holes drilled in my awning mounts nor did I remove the "seal". Yes, keeping this area clean is a bit problematic but I serious do NOT think that it looks bad - in fact, I think it makes this area look a bit more "finished" and it does keep rain from coming down that side of the Ollie. The washing/keeping it clean is also not really that much of an issue in that I do clean the roof every time I wash Twist anyway. A strong stream of water and/or an electric power washer easily keeps this area free of "stuff". Like Mike - I too noticed something that I'd like more information on - the white "hood" over your rearview camera. How's it working? What material did you fabricate it out of? Did you do it "freehand" or with a template or ....? Thanks! Bill -
I'd strongly suggest that you look for site 18 - it is a pull through site that is just a short distance from the restroom. I usually pull through the campground, past the restroom, around the "circle", back past the restroom and then into site 18. That way, your door opens to the street side and the next morning you simply pull straight out of the campground. Note that there is water available at the restroom if you need any via a spigot on the water fountain located in front of the restroom. The camp host is a nice lady located in the camper between site 18 and the restroom. Garbage can be dropped off at either your site or outside the restroom. If you have the time - the cabin and the monument to Meriwether are worth the half hour and there is room to park the Oliver over in that area. Enjoy your new baby. Bill

Model Year Changes - 2020 to 2023/2024
topgun2 replied to Ralph Mawyer's topic in Ollie Modifications
I agree but those few trailers that have been ordered since the start of 2021 that were ordered without solar and with wet cell batteries should be the only ones affected. I'd guess that we could count those on one hand. Bill -

Model Year Changes - 2020 to 2023/2024
topgun2 replied to Ralph Mawyer's topic in Ollie Modifications
In the usual Oliver fashion - we have a very quick response to the question: "Oliver has stopped prewiring ALL travel trailers for solar panels" (note my emphasis on the word "ALL") The Oliver response to this statement is: "For trailers without solar, they are not being pre-wired. Just a cost saving for production. The only trailers that do not have solar are ones with the base wet cell batteries. All AGM and Lithium battery power packages include solar and inverters. We rarely sell any with just the wet cell batteries anymore." Hope this helps clarify the subject. Bill -

In the immortal words of Artie Johnson - "Very interesting". p.s. PM sent asking for clarification from Oliver on changes to the wiring harness. -

topgun2 replied to Ralph Mawyer's topic in Ollie Modifications
I didn't know this either - are you sure? It seems strange to me that Oliver would take that portion of the electrical harness out of the loop when evidence would suggest that Oliver has taken great pains to "standardize" as much as they can on the production line. Bill -
Yep but most of the suggestions are too late now unless you have been reading up and viewing up at the Oliver University. Past that and possibly doing a "search" here on the Forum for the countless time this topic has been discussed - relax and have fun. Bill

Centramatic wheel balancing rings
topgun2 replied to rich.dev's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Glad you caught that - I thought that the price shown on Amazon was $200 PER WHEEL! But as Max B points out the price is about $200 per set of four. Still a bit more than a "regular" tire balance but certainly not as bad as I had thought. Bill
