  1. After modifying the diamond plate, I can fit my hand around the hose to pull it out now. I may bend it down a bit more later, but for now I'm happy with the way it's working. I can live with 6% left in the tank when level. Have you guys tested the speed of the drain flow by opening the bathroom shower vent? Ours seems to shoot right out with it open and gurgle when it's closed. Here's the link to the pics, etc... http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/reed-karens-blog/#post-53462 Hmmm just takes you to the blog... It starts at 53462 a couple up from the bottom. The link is right but it doesn't take you to the right post #... It shows my mod, so far. I ran out of daylight and buttoned it up but leveling out the hose and rounding the lip on the diamond plate was easy enough with a 12" Crescent and the grinder.
  2. I have some more work to do, but now when emptied with the trailer level, I've gone from 25% down to 6% still remaining on the tank level indicator. I usually raise the front end when dumping before driving, except when the stations are already set at an angle for speed dumping. The other thing that we have found, is that with the shower drain back flow valve closed, this also closes off the bathroom vent. We are still experimenting, but it seems so far to really make a difference in the speed at which the tanks dump. It is a lot faster with the vent valve open, especially with the gray water. Then also after seeing how Randy has his bumper set up, I took our Camco Sewer Slinky and separated it into thirds. Then I stack them halved again in the bottom of the hose box with the shorter section on the left, then the mid, and the tallest section on the right. Then I have the 2 10' sections of Valterra hose in back as extra. The small third doesn't get used as much and I really like it even better now, having them all separated and fitting in the bumper with everything else because it really opened up a hole in my tool closet. Enough so, that now I can fit my 8 gallon roll away water tank inside. For the drain hose I first have a 10' Rhinoflex extension, then a clear 6" section, which really does make it easy to see when the tanks are totally clean, then the standard 15' Rhinoflex sewer hose for a total of 25' that I leave hooked up all the time. I love the Rhinoflex because it is so easy to set the length with its accordion style of hose. Everything fits inside the bumper, all 45' of hose, the slinky, the extra caps and sewer connections, and a washdown wand for the toilet that we use every now and again. So far, the black tank rinse has worked ok. But we have also gone ahead and washed it out by hand at a couple spots that were set up with the water on the curb side. We just ran the hose thru the door and washed it totally clean :) Out of 35 trailers this weekend at the 14th Annual Fiberglass RV Rally in King City, California, we were the only Oliver and most everyone came over and took the tour :)
  3. After pulling the bumper I took my 18" Crescent Wrench with a pair of Channel Locks underneath and then bent the bottom plate down to where the hose is almost level. Then out came the grinder after rounding out the lip to make the bumper fit back on. To be continued...
  4. After dumping the gray tank at an RV park with the trailer leveled on full hook ups, I noticed that we were still holding 25% on the tank level. We had some good weather, so I went out and found that when we are level, the hose has to go up before it exits at the back of the bumper. When looking at the diamond plate, you can see that it is... Or was higher on the left side So I pulled the bumper, got out the wrenches and grinder and made a little improvement. To be Continued...
  5. After seeing Randy's pic above showing the slinky that he fits inside, I started looking at mine. I ended up separating my slinky into 3rds and stacking it folded out across the bottom. Then the sewer hose fits inside just fine on top of the slinky. I'll post all my mods on my blog page because I did some bending, cutting, and Grinding also to get a level flow coming out of the box. It was trying to flow uphill at first.
  6. Being that we've been on the road for the last few months, I'm sure it has a lot to do with Verizon. They switched us to an unlimited data plan supposedly and said that it might get throttled after 22gigs. We've been hot spotting everything with my tablet because it has the best signal and found out last night that Verizon's been throttling everyone at 22gigs, no matter where they are or how many people are using it at the time. Their new great unlimited plan truthfully has some serious limits that they don't tell you about and the pages are now loading slow after 35gigs this last month of hot spotting. So I am rethinking how I post and will try one pic at a time for a while. It doesn't explain losing the Oliver DNS server that I get sometimes but maybe I'm just trying to post too many words and pics at once.
  7. Congratulations, Nice color scheme :) The Truma is so worth it :) Good times ahead!
  8. Countless times, multiple subjects... New topics... That was 2 days ago now... I'm giving it another chance :)
  9. I'm getting so frustrated with this page that it's just rediculous! I go to copy and paste a link from another tab and this page resets itself and clears everything that I have written. Are we back to having to write everything in Word first then pasting the whole article at once? I can't even begin to count how many articles of mine have disappeared in the last month even after I've hit submit. Once again, I just clicked off for 2 minutes to select, copy, and paste something just to have it reset the typed dialog again to a blank page, loosing everything. Then it usually takes 3 or more tries to even get something to post correctly in the first place. I've had as many as 8 tries to get something to post unglitched... This is the ONLY web page that has been giving me multiple problems like this! Another post lost and once again, I refuse to rewrite it all over again because I really do have better things to do then to keep trying to post on this page just to watch it disappear or go to the "error on page" screen again and then reload to an empty page again... Then I copy and save before hitting submit because... Will this be the next lost post? It's really getting old... I'm to the point of "Why am I even here?", in the first place, when knowing that posting on here is a 40/60% chance of success...
  10. Yes it does work fine but it uses battery power and even with the Solar, I end up running the generator every other day when deep in a canyon. I'd rather have a choice myself to conserve my batteries for other things. As is, I've hit 12.1 vdc a few times and 12.3vdc or less every day in Yosemite. Gravity is free & simple.
  11. You don't need a pigtail, just a long enough 20amp cord to reach the generator. They do provide a 30amp x 3' twistlock pigtail also when you buy the generator box for the front and this adapter works best for me. It's simply plug & play :) Either plug it into the outlet and run a short cord or from the 3' pigtail - straight into the generator. Like you, I don't want my 25' cord to walk away. https://www.amazon.com/ALEKO-L15-30-Electrical-Locking-Connector/dp/B01CO5FXJQ/ref=pd_sim_60_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01CO5FXJQ&pd_rd_r=C3Y05J7R70QWS2W94JKG&pd_rd_w=DMY8d&pd_rd_wg=f4pv8&psc=1&refRID=C3Y05J7R70QWS2W94JKG
  12. Actually, John has the older style of thermostat. Leave it on auto because if you set it on low, it will use both the AC and the heater... Strange... But true :) one of my next projects is to change this...
  13. I've filled ours about 6 times now with the pump and it works fine. It just adds one more step with the switching of the valves but it's simple and like Bill said, you never have to lift your water caddy if it's on wheels. The valve switching is easy to remember with the 4 valves because you just change each one :)
  14. :) Congratulations :) It looks like you have the perfect setup now :)
  15. I made an attempt at least... :) The Defender was the best Land Rover had, too bad they stopped making it.
  16. Oliver tells you these days that they are full when you pick up your new trailer.
  17. The Commodore and the whole town of Linden was quiet. We parked right out front, slept great, the bed was just a touch stiff, and there's plenty of restaurants on the way. It made for an easy half hour drive to the factory. Lots of history in the area. Anita set us up with the Commodore. No bed bugs, no problems.
  18. I have the P3 and it works great. I had mine installed inside the center console below the arm rest hatch. So it's easy to get to anytime on or off road by just flipping open the armrest door. This way it's out of sight but still totally accessible.
  19. Ours keeps most of the water out and gives us a dry area by the door under the awning for an entry. It's nice not having streams of water raining off of the roof on us and that's its basic purpose for what it is and it has worked good so far. In light rain it works fine and we haven't had it out in any real heavy rains yet.
  20. Thanks for chiming in... How are our new generation diesel cars and trucks with the Ad Blue or DEF system killing your family? We take up a mere 3% of the cars on the road, so how do we compare to your 1,200,000,000 gasoline vehicles as far as making people sick and/or killing them? Stick with your 13mpg or less while towing style of gasoline vehicle, while I pass you up with my Olli in my Diesel powered Mercedes averaging 19.8mpg at 60mph. Thanks :) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_exhaust_fluid
  21. Eisleen and all the Casita folk said that the Honda 2000i would run the Dometic AC, so I started it up tonight and it did the same as yours with the fan starting first, etc. It was running at full throttle but it worked fine and cooled the trailer with the fan on low in just a few minutes. I had kicked the fan down to low to see if there was any noticable difference but I couldn't hear any change at all, it just stayed on high throttle. I bought the easy start but haven't had a chance to install it yet as we have been either in the rain or enjoying our trip and haven't been home yet where the ladders are waiting :)
  22. Diesel motors are being made extinct in the US. With diesel being heavier then air, where do smog emissions really fit in? Only in their pocket books. Every company has been targeted by the environazi's and that's why Mercedes only sells diesels overseas now. I can't buy a new one and that really pisses me off. With false statements like these, you can see who the environazi's are targeting today, and unfortunately they seem to be running our country right into the ground... - Environmentalists praised regulators for investigating FCA’s diesels. “No profit margin is worth poisoning our neighborhoods with toxic smog,” Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune in a statement, noting recent accusations against Volkswagen, Mercedes and Mitsubishi in Japan, and Chevrolet in Europe. “This deceit is as dangerous as the sickening smog these vehicles leave behind,” he continued. “Consumers deserve corporate accountability and clean cars that don’t make our families sick.” We will all be forced to buy electric cars if they get their way. The above statement is a blatant lie but it fools the unknowing... http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/chrysler/2017/01/12/fiat-chrysler-diesel-emissions/96485778/
