  1. Thanks. We have been down this road many times, but it's been awhile. We're trying to help neighbors who have never experienced a storm like this. And, help our daughter and friends get ready. Paul is at the sand pile with neighbors as we speak. My truck holds a lot more bags than their cars... Thanks for your thoughts. You won't see a lot of me for the next few days. Sherry

  2. It is looking like IRMA will be round two. Best of luck to all and especially our kindred Oliver owners in the Florida area. Most of the "old timers" have been down this road. But, this appears to be a bit of a different beast. Please be careful! Bill

  3. Like Bill, we use the Andersen and like it. Not much detail to go on here, but it sounds like an adjustment or set up issue. I'd send a PM to Sage, he was quick to respond to me when I had questions. Mike

  4. We had an idea of making the building process more informative for those waiting on their Ollie. I don't have an estimated time frame right now. We'll keep you updated!

  5. Hey John, they did only use the 5200 for a short time, when they couldn't get the 3500, they never changed the trailer rating for them. It funny because it must have just happened to be when they were doing the website and when someone checked all the equipment, that's what was on there so that's what they listed. This was the big discussion on here last year and they finally updated the website to the 10" specification. I've attached a photo so you can see the 5200 and get what you can from it. It looks like there are 4 leafs. If Steve doesn't I'll give you the measurements later when I'm back to the trailer.

  6. At this point (0150 - 09/08/2017) Central GA and the Metro Atlanta area in general are expecting tropical storm winds between 40 and 60 mph with gusts up to 70 mph to occur starting about 2000 - 09/11/2017 (Monday). Based on the predictions as of this morning (Friday), I would be remiss to stop in Atlanta, rather, I would plan to continue West at least another 150 miles. My greatest worry would be the tornado's that are often spawned from these tropical storms. A 70 mph broadside gust of wind on your Oliver might not put it on its side, but a tornado would. Good luck and please stay safe...

  7. We're using a Hayes Swaymaster electronic sway control with our Elite II with good results without WDH.

  8. Hap - from the latest forecasts it appears that IRMA is basically going to follow right behind you. Asheville is expecting local flooding and downed trees on Monday into Tuesday. Make sure that you are on high ground! Bill

  9. Thanks. We live on a small barrier island on the N.E. Florida coast and we are leaving this morning for Mckinney Campground in Atlanta. Many years ago we stayed on the coast while on vacation and lived thru a class 1 hurricane, and I've always said never again. We feel blessed to have an Oliver trailer to live in during these events. Hope everyone in the path of IRMA stays safe. Hap

  10. My wife and I did the Alaska trip (and much more) from Atlanta and back last year. It was a great trip but requires much planning and preparation in my opinion. We traveled with another couple who almost didn't get to go due to illness. If anyone is interested, we kept a blog of our trip to share with friends and family as we traveled and you may find some stories and/or photos to help pique your interest. The blog can be accessed at https://culpepperwaters.blogspot.com/ and the chapters are identified by the different towns/stops so you can focus on the Alaska only parts if you wish. It was a great trip and recommend it....and hopefully our next one will be in an Ollie.

  11. Hi, Basic thing I would have is a 30/15 adapter. If you have RVing for 20 years you probably have a couple. It is usually a little black rubber plug that looks like the end of you RV plug on one end and you can plug an extension cord in the other end. Into to that I plug in a a tester. This little tester is usually yellow (sometimes black) and usually has three little lights. Two green and a yellow. I also get the one with a little push button on top. That button lets you test GFIs. I like them because if I am camping and loose power, I can plug into the pedestal to see if I have power. If I do, then I can go inside and test the GFI. That tester is usually under $5 and available at Lowe's or Home Depot type stores. At Harbor Freight you can usually pick up a small meter for about $6, and sometimes free with a coupon. Nice thing is you can test flashlight batteries with it. It also comes with a small instruction manual. But you can also get hurt with one, so be careful. Bet auto supply places like O'Reilly, Napa, and such have basic auto (12V) electrical books. You might want to stay away from 120 V for now. I have a Progressive stand alone system that I plug in first. It tells me if it is ok to plug in the trailer. Some can be pricey, but they watch your power supply so you don't have to. And they have a lifetime warranty if you should ever need it. But the best electrical advice is to ask another camper. The odds are they know the answer. Be safe out there, and see you around the campfire...
