  1. I had the nicest surprise tonight when I came home from my opthalmologist. A neighbor had dropped off an invitation to a gathering at her home, to welcome her new neighbors. We live in a small town in a big metro area. I truly love the community in my neighborhood. And, it reminds me of the community we share here... We're kind of a small town in a really big area of many types of RVs. If I've missed welcoming any of you in my travels, I apologise. I've often said to others, the best part of owning our little Oliver has been the friends we've made along the way... Happy camping, wherever you go. Sherry

  2. I'll start with the Roadtrek Agile, a short Sprinter with a slide out in back. Motto: "When ugly no longer matters": I am trying to imagine extending this in a pounding rain storm, or when it is really dusty outside.... Those bottom drawer hatches don't look especially weather tight, or secure. I guess you could keep extra linens in there, in trash bags...They only made a few of this version. It reminds me a little of the baby cages from the 30's: John Davies Spokane WA

  3. This Casita was camped with us in Colorado at Black Canyon NP. Interesting paint job. Mike

  4. When we were at Monument Lake, in Big Cyprus this winter, this "big rig camper" was there for a couple of days. Unfortunately I did not get to talk to the owner, but I sure did like his camper. Although it was not weird or strange, but maybe one of a kind, and for sure not lacking for power. Ok, why did that picture load upside down????

  5. The system could be simplified by omitting the color control panel, since the charger works (or can work) autonomously. But I think the graphic display on the color control is a large part of the benefit. Once you understand why the system isn't working on restart, it makes sense because part of what you want the CC to do is turn the charger & inverter on and off. What Victron should really do is add some code to the charger that tells it to switch to autonomous mode until it can detect a signal from the CC. I also suspect that if I used the Victron batteries and BMS, then the system would come back to life on it's own since they would all be talking to one another. The Battle Borns are unable to communicate with the Victron, or anything else, so they can't say 'hey charger, we're shutting off power to the control panel so when you get power back, pretend for a few seconds that it's not connected'. But it's really not a problem, since running the batteries down isn't exactly part of the regular plan. When I slightly rework things though, I do want to add a split in the UTP cable so I can just unplug it there instead of opening up the charger. The charger also has a second 12v out, which I believe isn't switched. If I can tap into that to power the CC, then problem solved. Oliver has my manuals right now so I can't check. Anyway, yes, this sort of system is naturally going to be more complex, but it's just this sort of situation where the benefits seem clear. It alerts me remotely when something goes wrong, and shuts down fairly elegantly to save the batteries.

  6. Sounds like, if having factory service done, it is a good recommendation to have a battery post disconnect switch installed on your system and in use. It's also a good winter storage item to incorporate

  7. So don't own an Ollie yet but am excited to go to the RV show tomorrow and actually see one. Have previously owned a couple Airstreams but am hugely disappointed in their cost, quality and "fatness" of late. My wife and are are within five years of retirement so a new trailer is low on the horizon, thus the search. I do have to admit I'm massively impressed in what I've read and seen of the Ollie. My only negative is the fact is how do I get one into Canada. Not impossible but difficult to move that much money Stateside. When I talk about moving that much money I mean in Canada you can't finance something that's being bought outside of the country. Anyway off to the show tomorrow.

  8. While visiting Walmart today purchased a 14OZ cartridge of SuperTech grease that meets NLGI Grade 2 spec. Also started looking for a better way to store the grease gun while on camping trips. Purchased an inexpensive $7 Hyper Tough 16" plastic tool box that will allow the grease gun to be stored many places in Ollie or TV.

  9. Hello Oliver friends, My wife and I have placed an order, sent a down payment, and have picked out most of the options for our new Elite II to be delivered in June. We both read the Forum on a regular basis and occasionally have thoughts to contribute. It seems time to introduce ourselves. I'm a high school shop teacher of 20 years who enjoys time off in the summer. My wife also works for a school district, but in a year round technology support position. When the two boys were little the three of us visited every State Park in Minnesota together while my wife was home working. Fortunately, she was able to make 1/2 the trips with us. Stopping at each of the approximately 70 parks took five summers. The trailer we traveled in was a 18' hybrid with two bunk ends. We tired of the set up and condensation issues that come with sleeping in the tent ends. The boys are off to college, or soon to be, so she and I are looking to move into a camper that will be a better fit for just the two of us. We have over a dozen summers of good travel memories in that hybrid camper, but it's time to move on. We now travel with our two hunting English Setters. Both are excellent travelers and ruffed grouse hunters with an occasional pheasant trip thrown in. Recently we upgraded from a Toyota 4Runner to a 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser for our tow vehicle and my daily driver. We are very much enjoying the new Land Cruiser with it's 5.7 liter V8 and the upgraded trim level. We will contribute as we are able and look forward to continuing to read the forum. Ken and Julie
