  1. Just finished my maiden voyage of 24 days and 2000 miles in my Elite. Had several issues but had a great time! Saw lots of Utah and fished Utah, New Mexico and of course the Colorado. Boondocked at Canyonlands and Escalante. Still afraid of the water system so using water from five gallon container. Having issues determining how much water is in the tank. When I initially added water from my home it gushed out from underneath the camper. I don't know if I haven't closed a valve properly or what. Am configured properly for water though. Weathered a blizzard in Bryce with 60 mph winds and whiteout, and even drove across the pass towards Cedar City Utah with no issues. Easier to pull and maneuver than I thought. Oh and I caught a 24" Rainbow on the San Juan. Life is good!

  2. Mike, no I don’t turn it off when refueling. I read everything I could find about traveling with propane on and the majority opinion was that it was ok. I do stay aware of any strange situations or fuel spills. Mike

  3. Our refrigerator runs almost exclusively on propane. On a short trip (less than 1 month) it's unlikely we'll be plugged in at all. A longer trip means we will probably stop by a friend or relative's house somewhere along the line and sponge 120 volts off them. We do not turn it off when fueling. I don't have a cooling fan and have never needed one to keep the fridge cool. It seems I'm guilty of probably being like most of all the other Travel Trailer/Motor Home/RV owners in the world and have never done any preventative maintenance concerning my propane refrigerator because we've never had an issue with them in either of the two Oliver's we've owned and frankly, I wasn't aware I was supposed to.

  4. I think there would be a market for a larger Ollie with a dry bath and permanent queen bed. It would be a heavier trailer and not quite as suited to go where we can currently go. The extra weight would require a capable tow vehicle. The wet bath was an initial hesitation point for us and probably turns some folks away. After over 30K miles I wouldn’t want anything different, what we have is just the right size for us! Mike

  5. This is a LOCKED thread. I wanted to put all my links in one spot so that they are easy for folks to find. Search remains a real problem with this forum! This thread does not allow comments. If you have questions, find a dead link or just want to talk, you can comment on the appropriate thread, or start a new thread or just Message me. I will add to this page as I start new threads, so hopefully it will continue to be a good up-to-date reference. NEWEST POSTS ARE AT THE TOP. I am not going to bother to alphabetize them, LOL. I put a link to this page in my signature, so you can get here directly from any of my comments. 6. Just took possession of my Ollie Elite. So excited. Thanks to the Morey family for making this dream a reality for mey. Starting to plan trips for the upcoming fishing season. It will be so so nice to be comfortable, having been used to minimalist camping in a teardrop. Have a question. I am having to store my Ollie in a RV storage area. Right now it is outside. I am torn about spending the extra money to store inside or buy a high end cover. Living in Colorado weather conditions are obviously going to be hard on the camper. I am open to suggestions. C

  7. Our Escape had a Dometic fan that they said was part of the fridge and was not shown on the wiring diagram either. I had so many problems with the one in our first Escape I ran it on the patio for a few days testing things. It was a total reject 8000 model Dometic that was designed for Europe and would not work in warm climates and Dometic would not step up to the plate so everyone was stuck with a junk box that would not work half the time. I added insulation and fans to get it to work halfway. I made a connection out of copper pipe to connect to the low pressure port on the trailer. It only needs 12 volt and you don't have to hook up the 115 unless you want to run it on that to test run it.

  8. If there is any "stuff" floating around, I'd imagine that it will surface at the Owner's Rally. Other than that I've not heard a word. Bill

  9. Travelling with a fridge on gas, and turning it off before fueling up, probably has almost as many posts and debates on rv forums as " which tow vehicle" and "what replacement tires". Since we replaced our 3-way absorption fridge with a 12v compressor fridge last year, I don't have to worry about that question anymore. Sherry

  10. Still means you need a paper or computer log...which is what we've always done. Boats, cars, trailers. Not so big deal. We keep a book in the side pocket of the truck. In there, we track mileage, maintenance, upgrades, and a log of all our camping adventures. It's fun to look back...

  11. With the 2019 Oliver Owner’s Rally less than 3 weeks away, I am going back into production of shower mats and cutting boards. If you are planning to attend the rally and would like to take deliver there and save the shipping cost, please email me at 48ocean@gmail.com or call 516.635-5656. If you’re not attending the rally and would like either, I am happy to ship to you. Shower mats - $199 Treat your feet and add an impressive upgrade to your Oliver shower. This shower mat fits perfectly and provides quick water run off while keeping your feet high & dry. Shower mats are made from Honduran mahogany in a crosshatch pattern. Designed and assembled using over 40 precision shiplap joints with brass screws and no glue, making them lightweight and very strong. They fit your Oliver shower floor perfectly, stay put during travel and will last for year to come. The crosshatch pattern drains away water quickly and keeps you from standing in water. Their rubber feet protect your shower pan and provide a non-slip grip. Please note: These are wood and as such will need a little care from time to time. After each shower, simply tilt the mat up toward your closet wall and let it dry. Every few months scrub them with a soft bristle brush let dry complete and apply a light coat of mineral oil. Cutting Boards - $89 Add some elegant counter space to your Oliver. [attachment file=Cutting Board.jpg] This cutting board, fits your sink to stay put and provides more counter space for preparing meals or just hiding the dirty dishes. Cutting boards are made to your specific sink size. They are Hondurans Mahogany and Rock Maple done in a ship decking pattern They are designed to stay in place when traveling and can be used on both sides. And can also be used for serving as a platter. Please note: These are wood and as such will need a little care from time to time. Cutting boards should be cleaned and dried after each use and a coat of plain mineral oil applied once a month to keep up their glow.

  12. Tom & Cheryl - Actually, Bruce and Cheryl Norton (fellow Oliver owners) demonstrated Duragloss products for me at last year's Owner's Rally. Cheryl is the one that recommended using that mixture. Using a microfiber cloth you spray this mixture on, wipe with one side of the cloth and then give the area another wipe with the other side and you are done. No streaks - just sparkle! I've used so many different "wax" products in my life that all the claims of "easy", "best ever", "no streaks", "like new", etc. have created so many callouses that just leave me numb. But, when someone actually shows you - on your Oliver - how this stuff works, it is difficult to not become interested. No, neither the Norton's nor myself get a penny or anything else from Duragloss for saying these things. Bill

  14. A trick we used on a sailboat for storage, tie a line (rope) to the crate before sliding it all the way in. Leave the lines by the door. Makes it a lot easier to retrieve the crates...
