I wanted to especially thank all the moderators who handle the increasing amount of traffic here in the Forums. More Ollie owners and more members equals more potential friction, and sometimes things get said that shouldn't be said. Everyone makes mistakes, that is expected. I do greatly appreciate it when intentionally harsh or overly aggressive posts are removed promptly. Bravo. The same for spam posts with links to other websites - they are usually taken out very quickly if flagged right away. Sometimes I post in the wee hours of the night if I can't sleep, or I am in a hurry and my words do not come out exactly as I intended. I hope that anybody who might take offense understands that no harm is ever meant. Once written, words are hard to take back. John Davies Spokane WA3 points

In the short span of time we have been members here we really appreciate the volunteer efforts of all the moderators in keeping the riff raff out and content sailing smoothly. A great job, thank you all. Thank you to all the long time members here for your patient responses with questions you have seen over and over from us new folks. Passing forward your knowledge and experiences is invaluable and is so greatly appreciated. We look forward to meeting Oliver TT family members at a Rally someday! Stay Safe, David & Kathy3 points

So we tow with a 2018 Silverado 1500 tow package 5.3 L with active fuel management crew cab short box. The truck is more then enough to tow the Oliver. In very steep inclines i can still pass semi trucks with no problem at highway speeds so power is not a huge issue. Now when it comes to stability I tow with no weight distribution nor any sway control. Most pickup now a days have yaw control and sway control built in and with apply the brakes accordingly. Towing fuel mileage is to be expected at around 12mpg. Now disconnected I average 20.4 and have gotten 23.9 over a 400 mile range. Have had no issues what so ever with heat or any other conditions for that matter. Now with this being said this is my experience. I have a CDL and have driven and towed with all sizes of trucks from compact trucks to class 8 semi trucks. I am comfortable with the GM 1500. Full disclosure I was a GM master certified tech for 20 years so take it for what it is worth. My advice to anyone do research on the vehicle that you feel comfortable driving and make sure the specs meet the the work load it is going to be doing but your comfortable with. My humble opinion and experience. So for me the grade is A plus.3 points

We live on a Coastal River in SE GA & have traveled the US Birding since 2008 having seen almost 700 species! Since 2014 we have photographed over 460 species of butterflies in the US! We've just made a big leap changing from Airplanes, Rental cars & Hotels to an Ollie! Waiting 3 months will be the hard part.1 point

Can I craft you a shower mat or cutting board for your Oliver. Treat your feet and add an impressive upgrade to your Oliver shower. Add more working counter space to your kitchen. Boat builders count on Mahogany & Teak for their ability to stand up to water and the elements. My shower mats and cutting boards are made from sustainable Honduras Mahogany. Shower mats - $199 plus USPS 2/3 day shipping to your address. Shower mats are a half lap design inspired by old ship grates. I use brass screw instead of glue for a lifetime of service. There are 28 real rubber feet on the bottom to provide a sure grip and allow water to flow to the drain. Cutting boards - $89 plus USPS 2/3 shipping to your address My cutting boards are made from mahogany & maple and are design to stay in place while your trailer is moving. They provide extra counter space, and be used on both side and double as a serving board. Message me or send me an email at 48ocean@gmail.com1 point

The new Icom V86 is $125 at gigaparts.com. MilSpec construction, IP64, etc. It's not going to be in the easy to use category since it's a ham radio, but you won't beat the quality or range with any other handheld. I had a problem with the Motorola radios we initially bought, since it took a few seconds after pressing the key for them to actually start transmitting. I sent them back because of that and ended up with a pair of Icoms and they've been great.1 point

Thanks, John. We enjoy being here so volunteering to moderate isn’t a hardship! Traffic has increased a lot, both new owners and those interested in becoming owners. This is a nice community to belong to. Mike1 point

Yes, thanks for the kind comments. We Moderators are Oliver owners and Forum members just like everyone else on the Forum. In addition to our "moderator" duties we too have opinions, emotions and overall views of our world that may or may not coincide with virtually any particular topic out there. However, we try our best to be guided by the "Oliver Forum Guidelines". If anyone hasn't read these Guidelines in awhile, now might be a good time to do so. They can be found under "General Discussion" - "Read First: Oliver Forum Guidelines". Bill1 point

I hate myself for saying this but - Time Files! Seriously, it really does. During the three months of waiting you have a bunch to do (besides dreaming of all the great places you can take that Ollie). The Oliver University is a great place to start and since you are already here, there is a bunch of information contained on this Forum that will help ease you into the Oliver world. Welcome and please do not hesitate to ask questions along the way. Bill1 point

In another thread, @Nan asked about Maintenance schedules. @John E Davies responded with a link to his post with spreadsheets for Travel Logs, Service Records, and Inventory. John mentioned that you might need Numbers (IOS or Mac) or Excel (Mac and Windows) for these files. If you don't own this software, an alternative is to use free software for spreadsheets, such as Open Office or Google Sheets, which is part of Google Docs. I am posting today because I just updated my lists of Springtime tasks for the Oliver, including Sanitizing the Fresh Water System. I try to keep documents like this and my campground checklists to a single sheet of paper so that they fit into a sheet protector. I also took some info that Oliver posted on regular inspection and maintenance, and put them into three single sheet documents. I am going to upload them as Word documents (docx), so that they can be edited to fit your needs. Please let me know if you would like a pdf document, or an rtf version that can be edited with other software. I probably missed some important maintenance items, and I hope others will chime in.
