None of this is provable, of course, but I personally don’t think Truma has any intention of ramping up production to help Oliver. When this problem became apparent, Truma refused to issue and take responsibility for a recall laying the entire blame on Oliver claiming they were the only OEM that had experienced a problem. Truma knew about (or at least bought into the idea) that their product might have as issue because they retooled and changed the design of the burner assembly. It is my belief that this “shortage of parts” is an issue manufactured by Truma to punish Oliver and (by default) this community of owners for making this problem public knowledge.

I think this is a reasonable and responsible approach.

IF you decide to install a second connector, best practices would be to install a transfer switch between the two and reroute the output through the EMS. Otherwise, there would be no protection from electrical problems while using the front connection. An additional benefit would be that you could then use the front connection as a generator hookup.

Your sited article makes this vehicle sound as if it’s still in development. Is it currently on the market? I can’t imagine us ever owning something like this. I like our big ole honkin’ truck just like she is.

If the sensor is installed correctly and the tank is empty it will read zero percent.

Upon checking, I discovered that a re-certified tank is only good for an additional five years.

Everybody with a hull number less than 200 should be aware that their propane tanks are nearing their 10 year fill by expiration date. Just before we left on our annual Quartzsite trip, I discovered both our 30 pound propane tanks were out of date and non-refillable. This was going to require us to buy two new tanks plus the cost of filling them. A great price is about $75 per tank with an average price nearing close to $90. I discovered that NexAir will exchange 30 pound tanks. I got two filled tanks with a 9 year life for $50.

Strange, You’ve had your Oliver less than three years and we’ve had our Oliver almost eleven years with exactly the same equipment as yours with never a single problem from them.

I DO NOT make reservations over a couple of hours in advance and only then if it’s 105F outside and we need A/C for the night. We have traveled many thousands of miles without any reservations and not one single time have we ever not been able to find a free place to camp. The are fairgrounds, rest stops, city parks, empty lots, city campgrounds, Walmart, Cracker Barrel. We’ve even been invited to spend nights on people’s property. Drive into any small town and find the police department. Ask if there’s a place to park overnight. We have never been turned down. Many times they will accompany you to the place to park. Don’t overthink it, it’s easy to find free places at the last minute. We took a 15K mile, three month trip to Alaska and only paid for three nights camping and that was by choice.

We are all going down the road towing an earthquake through a hurricane. No screw ever gets tighter with vibration, it always loosens. I go completely through our Hull #50 at least once a year and check all bolts and screws for tightness, especially the electrical connections. I’ve preached this for several years on multiple platforms. You can’t blame a manufacturer for a loose screw on a a product that you’ve used successfully for years. The impetus is on us to maintain the product through regular inspections and maintenance.

Our Canyon is not a gas burner as it has the Duramax Diesel with the (standard on all GM diesels) exhaust brake and is rated to tow 7700 pounds as well. As I stated, I don't tow our EII with it, never even tried. I learned the financial hard way by going from a Chevrolet Tahoe, to a GMC 1500 gas burner, to a Silverado 2500 Diesel and now to a Silverado 3500 diesel to finally get a vehicle that preforms any task I call on it to do.

I was impressed with his review. His diction was perfect and we all should forgive him for mispronouncing Hohenwald. I'm with @Mike and Carol in that these trailers should not be considered light weight just because they have an aluminum frame but it’s not a heavy trailer either. However, my opinion is the Elite II in a ready to travel state is way too heavy for a Colorado or a Canyon to safely tow. We own a Canyon and think it's a great vehicle, we just don't tow with it.

Our older Hull # 050 does not have the pressure regulators. It does have the back flow preventers in exactly the same places you show in your picture. For the earliest Hulls (say below 300) an owner would need to examine their unit to verify whether they have both or maybe nothing in that section of the rear basement. At that point in construction they were just kind of making it up as they went and there's not a whole lot of consistency. I would expect the latest models have only the back flow preventers but I can't guarantee you where they would be.

Your usable amp hours of 368 would be half that amount, 184ah. You should never run LA batteries below 50%. It will significantly shorten their life. Lithium's, on the other hand, can be take down to 0% (best practice is 10%) without harm. Lithium's biggest shortcoming is that you should not try to charge them if the ambient temp in the battery box is below 32 degrees F. My advice would be to buy the biggest LiFePO4 battery you can afford.

I don't think you can have over 225 of usable amp hours in a lead acid battery setup in an Elite II. It's usually about 200ah. Do you have 6v or 12v batteries.

Yes, that will upgrade the AGM's to Lithium. There are some other considerations, however. You will have to change about a dozen of the settings on the IPN-Pro. If you've never done this before, it can be daunting. It is not intuitive, it's relatively complicated and you WILL mess up, more than once before it's done. Don't bother calling Oliver, they have no idea how to do it, never did, never will. I will be happy to assist you if you go this route.

The sales department never closed. Phil Andrews left over a year ago to take a job at Pella Windows. Jason Lindsey left because a different job opportunity arose. Anita has been there since late 2014 or early 2015. There is nobody still working there that was present when the first run of trailers were produced (2007-2009) nor during the earliest of the second run (2014 and 2015).

As it has been all this year, the process of buying a trailer at this point in time is, shall we say...fluid. That is, it seems like it's always subject to changing. As I currently understand it, if you live in a state that has a dealer and you seek to buy a trailer, you will be directed to that dealer. If your resident state does not have a dealer, you have the option of going to a dealer of your choice, or you can contact Hohenwald and buy it there. None of Oliver's sales staff has been "let go". A few weeks ago, I was at the factory and I believe I 'overheard' they were looking to hire a new sales person. There has been some positional movements within the middle management staff and a new Service Manager is now in place, another Jason, last name Ballentine.

We've been through Canada twice and on to Alaska once as well and an additional 125K miles or so. We've never had a drawer to come open. Of course, since our trailer is so old, we don't have the under the drawer slides, only the old time self closing side mounted slides. Apparently they work pretty well. I never cared for the idea of using a strap across the front of the drawers to keep them shut. You have to take it off to use any one of the three drawers it serves and then put it back on when you leave. Just an extra step, in my opinion it looks tacky and it would partially cover the beautiful Bocote wood drawer fronts that @Foy_Mirna Sperring made for us.

I've never seen a setup using two shunts. I wouldn't know how that would even work.
