Our 2,200 watt Honda, with the Hutch Mountain propane conversion, runs a smooth at sea level as it does at 8,600 feet and has no problem running the AC. Andrew
-
The 2018 brochure shows it as a 13,500 BTU AC. A 2,000 or 2,200 watt gas generator will run it with the Easy Start, no problem. If you want to convert the generator to run off of propane, I know the Honda 2,200 will run it without problem, on propane. Andrew

John, They won't do this during production but, you can ask service to install the solar system without the controller, after the fact. It would not be part of the sales contract and would be billed separate by service. Andrew

Generator for 2021 and beyond
AndrewK replied to Ray and Susan Huff's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
A 30 amp plug on a 2000 or 2200 watt generator would just be a convenience, if it were a 30 amp plug. As far as I have seen, that does not exist and still you would need to use an adapter. Andrew -
Generator for 2021 and beyond
AndrewK replied to Ray and Susan Huff's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
2,200 watt generators only output 18.3 amps at peak and 15 amps constant. Andrew -
SherMica, The cell booster brand is SureCall, a copy/spinoff of an older model WeBoost. I have an updated WeBoost and I wish I had not wasted the money. I have yet to get better reception with the booster. If your phone is new (less that a few years old) it uses MIMO (Multi In Multi Out) antennas built into the phone. A booster only uses one in and one out, which most of the time diminishes the signal. Here is a link to a Internet Resource Center YouTube video on the subject. MIMO vs Boosters: Do Cellular Boosters Provide the Best Signal & Data Performance? - YouTube I would save your money and see how well your phone works as a hotspot and if that is not sufficient, try a Jetpack/Mifi with a MIMO antenna. Jairon, They will make anything you want, just give them the measurements. The radius of the corners is 15". They are GREAT to work with and very responsive. Andrew

Patriot is right, they won't consider custom requests during production but you can reach out to Jason Essary (Service Manager) for a quote, for his team to complete the work. In 2019, he gave us a quote to install the solar panels and wiring, except for the solar controller. It would have been paid for separately from the purchase contract. Andrew

Four (easy) questions about truck Payload for Elite II?
AndrewK replied to david shiffman's topic in Towing an Oliver
Our tongue weight is about 450 lbs. with 20 lbs propane tanks and no basket. That weight is loaded for a week trip and the tanks empty. Our payload capacity is 1,109 pounds and we have no problem staying under that but, we travel light. Andrew -
TexasGuy, I highly suggest after market Lithium batteries. We went with Battle Born and have solar. The conversation is simple. All you need to start is a shut based battery monitor, one battery and you will have more usable power than any other two battery system and two Lithium batteies would be better than any other four battery system. For more information, check out Battle Born’s white paper on the subject and Morton On The Moves recent YouTube video. Andrew

Jairon, We ordered two and found them to be too large and too noisy. Andrew

I use one for my APAP (CPAP) machine. Much less of a draw than running off an inverter! Andrew

Still working on Build Worksheet, Some Questions
AndrewK replied to Lori L's topic in Introduce Yourself
Lori, Here is a picture of regular and metal flake black. If we had it to do again, we wouldn’t pay extra for the metal flake, as it is very difficult to see any difference between the two. Andrew -
SOLD To anyone interested, I have a Progressive Dynamics, lithium compatible, 4060 converter/charger for sale, to the best offer. If interested, please PM me. I removed the converter/charger from our 2019 Elite II, before it was ever used and replaced it with a Lithium specific converter charger. Turns out, I did not need to spend $272 to replace it, as the one we had was one of the lithium compatible chargers that could have been converted to lithium. Andrew

Bryan, I have been very impressed with the quality of workpersonship of the wiring on our 2019. It is very clean and well thought out. The only problem I have found was the failure to install the solar wire from behind the radio down to the lower hull. Fishing a double strand of 10awg between the hulls proved to be difficult and very time consuming, after the fact. Andrew

You will need to use a sound generator/toner to locate the wire. It will be approximately 17" to 18" forward of the Maxxair fan and off set to the street side a few inches. I can provide you with more detail and direction on the complete install. If you would like to discuss further, please PM me with your contact information. Andrew

Fans for the assurance of domestic tranquility

David, We purchased two small Lemoistar USB powered suction cup fans that we have attached next to the USB/12V plugs, under the upper cabinets. They are very quite and have worked very well for us. They are not the best quality but I tried much more expensive options from Caframo and found the $10 fan on Amazon was the best for our purpose. They are not remote controlled but they use such little power, they can be left on low most of the time. Andrew -
Battle Born Black Friday Sales Today (11/27/2020)
AndrewK replied to RnA's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
According to Battle Born, in multi-battery systems, the positive and negative leads should be attached at the opposite ends of the battery bank. This insures proper charging and current flow, through all batteries. Please read copied text, from Overland, from another thread. This is a example of problems that can occur if both the positive and negative leads are attached to the same battery in a multi-battery system. Andrew -
Battle Born Black Friday Sales Today (11/27/2020)
AndrewK replied to RnA's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Mike, The point I was trying to make is if your positive and negative leads to the trailer, are connected to the same battery, that is not correct. The positive lead should be attached to one of the batteries and the negative to the other battery. As pictured below. You want to draw the current across both of the batteries. Andrew -
Battle Born Black Friday Sales Today (11/27/2020)
AndrewK replied to RnA's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Mjerndon, Are your positive and negative leads, to your trailer, connected to the same battery? If so, you are not getting the full capacity nor full charge to both batteries. One battery should have the positive lead on it and the other the negative. If that is how you have it wired, disregard. Just looking out for you! Andrew -
Factory lithium batteries - do they have a heating system?
AndrewK replied to John E Davies's topic in General Discussion
All, I have had two Battle Born batteries for a year and a half now and have had no problems with the batteries getting cold. I did plug the four holes on the door, insulate the door with the bubble insulation and a seal around the edge of the door. The fiberglass plugs, insulation and the seal came from Oliver. We routinely camp, where night time temperatures are near or below freezing. During our last trip it was 34 to 36 degrees at night and the lowest temp at the battery terminal was 59 degrees. The lowest battery terminal temperature I have seen was 49 degrees, when it was 16 degrees and windy overnight. I honestly don't think most would need battery heaters. Andrew -
David, Our tow vehicle draws five to six amps from the trailer, to the vehicle, when the engine is not running. It does this for five to ten minutes and then gradually diminishes. I believe it is because we have LiFePO4 batteries in the trailer and they run at a higher resting voltage, than the vehicles AGM. This causes power to be drawn for the higher voltage in the trailer to the lower voltage in the vehicle. I suspect that would continue until the voltages are the same. If we stop for any extended period of time, I disconnect the 7-way. I forgot once to plug it back in so be careful doing so. I have also tracked down the fuse providing power to the and have seriously considered just pulling the fuse. Andrew
