  1. @Katjo Here is my Zarcor window shade write up for anyone interested - we reeeeeally like this mod. 😊 I highly recommend if your going to the trouble to change out the glass, take it to the next level and add the blind it’s a good safety mod allowing you to see who is knocking. 👍🏻
  2. Oliver Service calls these “Compression fittings” not familiar with whale fittings as I have never owned a boat. As mentioned you tighten by hand by turning the compression fitting clockwise as it is threaded and snug it tight. It’s important to not over tighten or you could split or break this fitting. If you have not checked any of them, I highly recommend you do. It’s a regular check on our maintenance list.
  3. Margaret, You may want to pull your window seals out and inspect and clean the track beneath that seal. Clean the seals as well. The seals will easily go right back in after you remove them. Any dirt or debris that builds up in the window track will not allow water to properly drain through the exterior window weep holes. When the weep holes are blocked the water will over flow and eventually leak into your interior. We use an air compressor or you can use compressed air in a can to help in cleaning these tracks out. We clean the window tracks about every second or third wash and have not had any issues. Hope this helps. Patriot Here is a very helpful link -
  4. Mossey, great questions. I too wonder if the ceramic coating chemical may have discolored or caused a discoloration inadvertently applied to the caulk. I don’t recall seeing caulking turn this color on a new Oliver. Anyone else who has had their Ollie recently ceramic coated might be able to a answer this. Yes, the caulk job is sloppy. A work ticket for sure with service, Oliver will surely take care of these issues. 👍🏻 Patriot
  5. One thing to keep in mind with Harvest Host, they automatically renew your membership every year. Just be sure you know this prior to signing up. -Patriot
  6. As others have mentioned, take it to Oliver and they will make it look like new, they do excellent work. I would not take it to any local Fiberglas or gelcoat shop. Oliver knows fiberglass, its what they do and do well. 😊
  7. @John and Jodi also consider checking ALL of your white compression fittings on the curb side under belly area where your waterlines lay in the belly of the Ollie floor. If one of these fittings are loose and they do loosen ask me how I know😅, just hand tighten only and recheck to see if you have any further leaks. A blue shop paper towel aid in showing you if any or which ones are leaking or even seeping. Try this using your pump and then try this with just your city water on. Any loose compression fitting can allow enough water to travel to that scupper if your Ollie is just slightly nose down. I find myself checking all of these fittings before and after long trips. After a good hand tightening I have not had any come loose. You can also install foam rubber pipe insulation to reduce the vibration between the plastic connectors and the Ollie interior shell. You many already know what a compression fitting looks like, incase you don’t here is a pic of a white compression fittings look like. Don’t over tighten these as there is a potential for it to break or split, it’s only plastic. A good gentle snug tightening has served me well. Hope this helps!
  8. If you ever decide to order/build an “Ollie Hangar” shoot me a pm. We learned quite few important details in our due diligence while vetting and selecting a business that sells and builds steel structures. 👍🏻
  9. We have the newer lighter weight cover from Calmark which we purchased from Oliver last summer. It is easier for two people naturally with ladders to install the cover. It’s not difficult but it is not a quick on and quick off procedure either, there are some gymnastics involved 😅. We always install the cover on the curb side and sit it on the awning and unravel it from this point. Others may have a magical way, but this worked for us. We used it last winter for the first time when we winterized and stored our Ollie here at our home. We used foam pool noodles on the sharp angled corners to reduce wear and tear on the cover. Corners such as the solar panels, rear bumper, entry steps. We had no visible signs of scratching or marring of our Ollies finish at all. Naturally without a cover you will begin to see some dulling or oxidation of the gel coat and you will reeeeally need to stay ahead of that with waxing and buffing. With the price tag of new Olivers creeping up year after year, we opted to take the best possible care of our Ollies finish. That said and here is another option to the Calmark cover- Last Friday, July 29th after a lot of previous research, planning, and due diligence we had a custom built “RV port” or as we call it an “Ollie Hangar” built on our property in our backyard area and are very happy with the results. We used a local Mt Airy, North Carolina company called - steelbuidlingsandstructures.com This NC company is an engineered certified steel structure builder which meets and exceeds our State and County’s code requirements for wind and snow. It does exactly what we intend it to do- keep our Ollie out of the UV, and elements. The crew installed it in a day and a half so we feel it is well worth the investment for us. We also like the convenience of taking off in the winter months without wrestling with the cover standing on ladders and all the gymnastics that goes with it. This structure is fully covered by our homeowners policy, note - some policies do not cover out buildings. We have 30 amp shore power so no issues with battery maintenance. Just another option. “Ollie Hangar” located on Blueberry Hill Demenions - 13X25X11H “Back Stage” as we like to call it. 😅 Our home LED motion sensor lights put a lamp on our path for a few minutes when we walk out to the hangar.
  10. Sounds like a plan someday! Great talking with your today Steve! - David
  11. Congrats on your new Oliver!! Wishing you many happy miles and smiles exploring! Happy Camping!!! -Patriot
  12. We did some research on the AS forums on the Base Camp and a few other models back in 2019-20 when we were looking to purchase a TT. Besides being way to small after seeing one at a local dealer, We then read on the AS forum all the complaints regarding water leaks with the BC other models resulting in rotting and molding floors. Needless to say we never returned to the AS dealership in Greensboro, NC.
  13. Yep, submit a work ticket and service will sell you a brandy new one. 👍🏻 They ship fast in my experience.
  14. We have the standard toilet and no shower curtain and honestly have never thought we needed one. We use a squeegee on the walls and floor after a shower and it works great. So no curtain for us, it would be just another item to clean.
  15. CRM, Your on point with keeping the window tracks clean. We clean the tracks every time we wash our Ollie after every trip. Its easy so why not? I have never used the pipe cleaners or had a need for them. We do have the rain gutters which I think do divert the water away as designed. We have been through some very hard all night torrential rain storms without any water issues. -Patriot
  16. Mike, Wow! You and Carol are living the dream! Thank you for your inspiration to travel and sharing your adventures. Your photos and write ups really have us dialed in on spending time in Colorado. Kathy and I love it that you actually post up while your camping! Keep the photos coming! We really enjoyed dinner at Crawmama’s and finally meeting you both at the last Rally. Those steaks look amazing! Keep up the posts! Safe Travels, David & Kathy
  17. They do have a really large rain simulator or giant Ollie wash/wet weather booth. We saw it during our factory tour in Jan of 2020. I don’t know if they had this back in 2017, If I had to guess I would say they surely must have. I can’t imagine that this critical and very important step would be by bypassed in production by Oliver regardless of the pace of production.
  18. This should help answer your question -the caps screw in. And I like having the safety chain as an added security measure to keep from loosing one of these while in transit.
  19. Mike, Great photos we are really looking forward to a Colorado trip! Thanks for posting!
  20. paddlebum52, welcome to the forum! There is a metric ton on info on here, lots to read.😊 The search function/window is a great way to explore and answer many of your questions. If you contact Oliver directly they will also help you set up a visit with a local Oliver owner in the area you live in. Many owners are very willing to show you their Olivers and give you real world experience and feedback. I would also suggest you watch the Oliver maintenance videos and check out Oliver University. Another suggestion is to schedule a factory tour so you can see all that goes into building an Oliver and enjoy the wow factor! I feel sure you will find lots interesting thoughts, ideas, mods, and many “opinions” regarding Oliver TT ownership experiences on this fourm. If you use Facebook there is an Oliver TT owners group there as well where a lot of info is also posted. We purchased our Oliver Legacy Elite ll in June of 2020 and are very happy with it! Let the reading and research begin and enjoy the fourm and ask away!😊 -Patriot 🇺🇸 Hull #634
  21. We had our bulb seal replaced by Oliver last summer with new bull seal. I posted about the new replacement here is the link - Zero issues now and it performs as designed. Oliver did a great job drilling out our awning brackets as well so no pooling of water concern now. 👍🏻
  22. Katjo! Great photos and info on your visit to Lakeport SP. Based on your photos and review we will keep this one on our list. The Great Lakes have a lot of beautiful areas to camp. Thank you for sharing! - Patriot 🇺🇸
  23. I decided to order these much higher quality Eley QC’s based on a recommendation from another member on here. Verrrrry nice and very high quality vs the aluminum Chinese junk sold on Amazon (above). These are made in the USA 🇺🇸 and top shelf. I would purchase these again based on the fit and finish and they come with a 10 year warranty. Order here if interested - https://www.eleyhosereels.com - Patriot
  24. DandD, Enjoy your awesome trip and stay in touch, it was great talking with you last evening. After our phone call I believe you have this “wrestling with the cranky bulldog” issue well taken care of. 😄 Enjoy that beautiful new Ollie!! Safe travels friends, - David
  25. Everyone camps differently, that is quite a well stocked TV! Enjoy your tour of Northern Michigan and Lake Superior. Post up pics when you can. Safe travels! -Patriot
