Compressor refrigerators for the Elite 2
SeaDawg replied to Ospreybob's topic in Ollie Modifications
The indel webasto 130 liter fridges have 4.6 cu ft volume. The norcold n412.3 had 4.5. The dometic rm2454 had 4.0. Freezer is smaller in all the versions of the indel webastos, but the fridge capacity is nice, imo. And mine has worked flawlessly for several seasons (installed 2018, i think.). Not a single hiccup (other than my breaking the hinge pin on the freezer door, but that was my fault.) Cools down quickly, no worries about leveling, maintains a steady even temp, and I love the interior light. And, that I can pull out the entire produce drawer. No more getting down on my hands and knees with a flashlight to see what's in the bottom of the fridge. The version Oliver uses has more door insulation than my truckfridge version, so even better, I'm sure. -
Out of curiosity, how did you find your trailer? @jd1923? Wishing you many miles of smiles. Great looking rig.

Congratulations on having parts on hand. The Yukon truly is "larger than life." Our favorite days of our Alaska trips have been northern bc, and the Yukon. Especially, the Yukon. Enjoy!

A quick question on using shore power and air conditioning
SeaDawg replied to Steve Morris's topic in General Discussion
It may, or may not work, here. But, you could save as a pdf and post it, I think. Or, simpler, take screenshot(s) of the table, and post as images. (Attach as files.) Thanks. -
A quick question on using shore power and air conditioning
SeaDawg replied to Steve Morris's topic in General Discussion
@John Dorrer, do you have the truma, or dometic? With or without ez start? You were using the charger in your son's driveway, obviously, probably adjusted for a 30 amp connection? Did he have other systems in his home using power on that 20 amp circuit? -
Maybe. But so are are fixed panels. The advantage of fixed panels are that they charge as you travel. Rolled up solar does zip on the road. I'd want at least a combo.

Norcold Fridge control panel/plastic is loose
SeaDawg replied to AlbertNTerri's topic in General Discussion
My experience with warranty work from oem manufacturers is that trailer manufacturers don't have to "register" for warranty. (Registration is actually not a legal requirement in many states.) Title date worked for me, in a couple situations. Pickup date in others, including an expensive charger converter panel in a motorhome also worked. 6 days before 2 year manufacturers warranty expired. It all depends. It's just worth asking. If, you need parts. Since I haven't had a norcold for 8 or 9 years, I couldn't say, but I had a two year warranty way back when, 2008. Glad it worked for you, @John Dorrer. Hope the op also gets help. -

The evolution of dinner conversations, Oliver style
SeaDawg replied to SeaDawg's topic in General Discussion
Well, it's 16 seasons later, now. Three years ago, we upgraded our 2 x 100 watt panels to 2 x 200 watt bifacial panels, made in Michigan. Great upgrade. Now, I see Renogy has introduced 220 watt bifacial panels, with perc tech, plus half cut cells. We're happy with what we have, for now, but I do love the concept of this new product. (No size listed. We have a 2008 elite,so, limited space, even with our custom sidemount.) Think of the watts generated bouncing off that glossy white hull? We think we get extra, but have never tried to measure, with our bifacials. I'm glad to see manufacturers continue to upgrade the status quo. https://www.renogy.com/bifacial-220-watt-12-volt-monocrystalline-solar-panel/ -
Saw this today. A rollup solar awning has entered the international marketplace. Kind of pretty, too. https://www.rvnews.com/solar-awning-competition-grows/

To my knowledge, neither the black nor grey tank are certified for freshwater. Even if they were, the way they connect in an Ollie would make them inappropriate for use for fresh. We carry 5 gallon jugs for longer trips, in the truckbed. A few have figured out a way to use the black tank (unused with a composting toilet) for extra grey water capacity. And, as Steph and Dub said, what would you do with the grey water, anyway?

Truly beautiful. So very well performed. My great grandmother's first husband died in the Civil War. A recruit from central Iowa, leaving her with two little boys. She sold that farm, moved up to Southern Minnesota near her brother, and homesteaded 80 acres. The message in this music is haunting, and so very moving. O the horrors of war. Truly it may be considered the most cruel and awful scourge which can befall a nation. Heaven grant there may be an end soon. (Samuel D. Lougheed letter to his wife Jane "Jennie" Lougheed, October 7, 1862) thank you.

Norcold Fridge control panel/plastic is loose
SeaDawg replied to AlbertNTerri's topic in General Discussion
You may still be under warranty with norcold. Many components have a two or three year warranty, in our experience, via manufacturer -
That's why we take our trailers to a local, sole proprietor shop for tires. He does lots of trailers, every year. Prices are fair. Work is excellent. I trust his recommendations. Another smaller independent shop for brakes, etc. Same deal. Same recommendation.

The upgrade maxxair dome fan, with the light ring, is still one of our simplest and best upgrades. Quiet, strong, and light overhead. Especially since the wall light is now flukey. I'm looking forward to finding some kind of similar overhead light, maybe around our fantastic vent fan, for the main cabin. My friend (Casita) installed installed an aftermarket thing on her fantastic fan. It has "dots" of lights, so light, but annoying to me. I'll wait.

Need help with propane generator setup
SeaDawg replied to Happy Camper's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
True, no matter what brand or single/dual/tri fuel genset you buy. Plus, most of the old school "contactor " type generators have a total harmonic distortion so high that it can kill electronics and circuit boards. Something to check on any cheaper brand you look into. Under 5 per cent is most like clean household power supply. A friend of mine lost power for a day awhile ago, and I loaned him my Honda to run his fridge, on an extension cord, so he wouldn't lose his food. Now he wants a bigger generator for backup. He saw a cheap big open frame contractor type genset at a big box store, and sent me a photo. My response: Not only would his neighbors hate him, because of the noise, but THD was up to 25 per cent (of course not listed in specifications. ) He's going to keep looking, naturally. Most inverter gensets, even many of the cheap ones, like my spare Westinghouse, have decent decibel ratings, and decent thd ratings. If they don't, give a pass. -
Thank you! I've visited an old Viking village in Iceland. This one is definitely on my list!

@Boonter Jeff, if you want or need help updating your signature, just pm me. Then it will show at the bottom of each post. It does help others when they know your trailer vintage, to offer appropriate comments. Thanks for updating your profile.

I got tires on my truck at Walmart a few years ago. Their rules were inflate to max. (I asked.) I "fixed" that myself. Truck rode like a lumber wagon til I got home, where i have a big compressorand gauges. Glad it was only a few miles. Great reminder. Thanks!

Awesome little tool. I have a 70s us version. My friend Pete (bugeyedriver) has one. Lots of people use it. I am subscribed to a German omnia cooking channel. I'll look up the link. They're pricey, but it is quite possible to bake/roast make some great meals. (My vintage one I found on ebay. Still in box. )

Bulb Seal (for under the awning) has been Ordered

Because you rarely have rain??? We have 40+ inches a year.. 😅 -
Great how we work together, isn't it? (Eye rolls aside, lol. It is what it is. How many hours of my life have I spent looking for Paul's caps, keys, glasses, etc. It's just what we do. ❤️❤️❤️ and how we roll on down the highway. ) If we can't joke about it, it just isn't "fun" anymore. Thanks for the memories. 🤗
