  1. Mossey, If I understand you correctly, there were rivets installed through your front tray rails into the fiberglass? Thanks,
  2. John, Are these the rivet heads you're talking about? Already have new 1/8" neoprene rubber to sandwich between the tray rails that originally contacted fiberglass on our 2015 LE2. Oliver has not emailed the shipping notice for the new tray assembly, hoping tray will ship before New Years. Here's bottom of old tray where you can see the front rivet heads will contact the battery compartment fiberglass floor unless something is sandwiched between the tray rails and fiberglass:
  3. The original batteries in our #75 LE2 Ollie were group 27 12V lead/acid batteries that spilled acid in the tray. A few years ago installed Group 27 12V AGM batteries and no longer have acid spillage issues. Removed battery tray to clean and paint. Saw several issues. Found corrosion from battery acid on the battery tray and tray slides & ball bearings. Also found loose rivets that would eventually fail if not replaced. After thinking about replacing slides and rivets, decided to buy a new tray assembly from Oliver. Ordered a new tray assembly last Tuesday that's currently installed on LE2 trailers. When new tray is received will post photos of old and new tray showing differences. Like what I have seen of new trays from photos posted in this thread that appear to better protect batteries.
  4. John is right how easily a pneumatic grease gun operates. After a grease gun discussion here last year, I purchased a Lube-Shuttle one hand manual grease gun with flex hose/straight coupler and G200EP multi purpose grease from Amazon. It's expensive, but very nice manual grease gun/cartridge system. This grease gun system does not take up much storage room on camping trips and no drips/mess with the Lube-Shuttle grease gun system. Also use RedLine CV-2 grease in a tub from Amazon, for packing wheel bearings on four trailers including Ollie, great grease. 5. John, Maverick modified his tray locking system, but have not modified mine. Making repairs to my battery tray right now. JD's photo looks like a good idea.
  6. Maverick, Nice, strong, and simple fix! Thanks,
  7. Maverick, Rivets are starting to loosen where the battery was impacting, found that issue today after removing the tray from Ollie. That could cause premature failure where bearing slides connect to the tray, too. Need to drill out rivets, then reverse and replace them. Already have various rivets, manual & electric rivet pullers. The battery strap hook can be replaced with a longer strap getting rid of the hook that can possibly damage the battery. Lightweight Lithium batteries sure would reduce stress on the battery tray.
  8. John, Your trays were riveted correctly and our trays were not from the OEM. Hopefully our tray is not normal for 2015 Ollies. Original batteries from Oliver were lead/acid 12V group 27 batteries, that's where the corrosion mess came from. Installed AGM batteries 3 years ago, before Lithium batteries were on my radar. Did not look closely or see the corrosion until taking a closer look when we started talking about Lithium batteries a few weeks ago. Now that the tray is out, going to clean & paint, maybe buy Lithium batteries, too. Will see.
  9. We have two batteries and use the rest of tray space for other electrical stuff. One or two Lithium batteries would work for us, too! I'm all about reducing weight and Lithium batteries are great for that. Will see.
  10. Removed batteries and battery tray from #75 2015 LE2 Ollie this afternoon. There was a little damage caused by the strap hook and rivets to one of the batteries, but battery is OK for use: Going to clean, prep and paint tray. Will also sandwich & secure 1/8" UHMW plastic strips between battery and tray where rivets and strap hook contact batteries. Ordered 1/8" plastic material from Amazon. You can see corrosion formed over the years: Plan to sandwich rubber sheet material between tray & fiberglass where tray rails bolt to fiberglass:
  11. Other batteries may be larger than my Duracell 12V Marine/RV Group 27 batteries. Need to measure overall interior width of your battery tray to see if 1/8" material can be placed on both side of your batteries. Noticed rivet clearance problems with both group 27 AGM 12V batteries in Ollie's battery tray during discussion in thread here. Rivet and battery hook contact made with batteries can be stopped with 1/8" plastic between the battery and tray on my Ollie. There is enough clearance on both sides of my group 27 batteries for 1/8" plastic. Cutouts can be made in the plastic to accommodate the rivets and strap hooks to prevent battery damage. 1/8" plastic cutting board or 1/8" plastic (UHMW) from Amazon could be used. Other types of 1/8" materials could be used, too. Just have not gotten this project yet
  12. Ray and Susan, Congrats on your beautiful new Ollie!!!!!!
  13. Looking forward to photos and hearing about Ollie!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I can see the potential for battery case damage, should have seen it earlier. Cutting board material, probably UHMW plastic, is tough and cheap. Easy to saw, drill and shape. It would be perfect battery protection for vibration applications. I'm already using it in the battery compartment to keep the batteries in place and made a backing plate for the Furrion Solar port installation, too.
  15. Like Overland posted, the tray is 14" X 21" on the LE2. Just looked at Ollie's battery tray and saw the next Ollie project. There are pull or pop rivets protruding 1/8" on both interior sides of our tray front & back. Going to place at least 1/8" thick plastic, stealing one of Debbie's cutting board again, between battery and tray with holes drilled at rivet locations to keep rivets from damaging batteries. The actual width of the tray is 14 1/8" to 14 1/4", but rivets protrude 1/8" on each side making 14" wide tray clearance. You could gain up to 14 1/8" to 14 1/4" tray width by installing flush head rivets or flat head screws pointing outward from the battery, if additional width is needed.
  16. Appreciate the info. Visiting Ollie later today, will be taking a close look at the battery tray.
  17. Battleborn 100 Ah 12V LiFePO4 Deep Cycle Battery size: 12.75" × 6.875" × 9" tall Going to measure Ollie's battery tray today, length and width. We currently have two Duracell Platinum group 27 AGM 12V marine/RV batteries: Size 12.75" x 6.75" x 9.875" tall
  18. John, That's a good price, Thanks for the link. Started looking at this unit to upgrade to Lithium batteries recently when Mike posted about his progressive unit. Replaced the original unit a couple years ago with a non-lithium charging unit. Lithium batteries were not on my radar at that time. It's easy to replace.
  19. Beautiful shot! We have not visited Maine, yet!
  20. Took this shot at Valley of Fire, too. Plan to visit again next time in Nevada: We like Bryce along with so many beautiful places out west:
  21. Thanks! 👍 Took a Miata on Tail of the Dragon a few years ago, and really enjoyed it. Had the top down and Debbie was hearing a scraping noise behind us in the curves. It was a motorcycle dragging his pegs through the curves. Later that day, Debbie said I had to install a roll bar on the Miata. Installed a Hard Dog roll bar during the next couple months on Mr. Miata. 🙂
  22. We enjoy roads like Tail of the Dragon TN, Devil's Whip (NC80) and Diamondback (NC226A) on two & four wheels. Debbie & I riding "Tail of the Dragon": Riding the "Devil's Whip" (NC80) going up the hill on same section of road Patriot posted:
