Looking really good with that Tennessee orange in a nice dry site. Hope there is a nice cold adult beverage in that cooler! Bill

I hate to say this but on the very rare occasion that I've run into problems with my Andersen it has also been raining. Perhaps those chains shrink?😁 Seriously - If I'm having trouble I simply loosen the nuts several turns, attach the whaletail and then re-adjust those nuts my "standard" number of threads showing. Bil

2022 Toyota Tundra - Sept 19th official video release
topgun2 replied to Patriot's topic in General Discussion
Dean - Do I read a hint of a move from Casita to Oliver in this sentence? A new Tundra with a new Oliver sure would look nice. Bill -
Reminds me of several years ago while I was camped near Holy Cross City and it rained for four days straight - 🙃 There have been a couple of posts here on the Forum about how to wire charging from the TV - try searching lithium Tow Vehicle charging. Bill

Just be sure to NOT ask for directions or your "Man Card" will be at risk 😆 Shame that CA is not all that close to FL in that in a couple of weeks you could see a bunch of Ollies all in one place. Bill

I'm excited for you! Delivery day is really special and exciting. Just take your time and try to have fun. Things should be a bit easier with the camping area right outside the delivery area. This should give you even more time to re-check everything - just to make doubly sure. I trust pics will be forth coming. Bill

I always wondered who had that number! The charge controller on the solar panels should "regulate" the amount of charge coming from the panels - so - nothing to do there. Keep an eye on the charge amount coming from your "plug-in charger" - most of the modern ones have either a analog meter which tells you the state of charge or some sort of "idiot light" step-up that does the same. In any case, if it is a modern battery charger it should not cook or over charge you batteries. Using the supplied clamps from the charger, simply clip one to the positive and then the other to the negative posts that are used to attach the main cables going to the Ollie. Bill

There just might be a couple of reasons for the odor. Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to get a grey tank odor treatment and try that following the directions - something like THIS - available at most RV places, Amazon and many Walmarts. The next thing is to look at the vent to make sure that it isn't clogged and/or the vacuum breaker under the sink to make sure it is operating. Good luck. Bill

Battery Box Support Bolts Missing
topgun2 replied to Ralph Mawyer's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Ralph - Glad you found and fixed the problem but sad that it happened in the first place. Keep a close eye on that fiberglass (particularly the gelcoat in that it is more brittle than the glass itself) over the next 1,000 miles or so. Bill -
Update: Second Oliver Mini-Rally at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park
topgun2 replied to Foy_Mirna's topic in Events & Rallies
JamesO - You might due better to send a private message (PM) to Foy-Mirna just to make sure that they see it and can advise you accordingly. In another thread, Foy posted that there was an opening for the entire event due to a cancellation but I do not know if that is still available. As a general comment, since anyone (like myself) who is arriving on Friday can not check-in for a camping spot until 1pm, it is unlikely that most Olivers will be setup prior to 2 pm. And, with the Friday night dinner starting at 5pm, there will not be much time for you to meet, hear and look. Bill -
Yes. I had repacked the bearings on the RV below just prior to this trip of 5,000 miles. I was headed east on I-70 just outside of Hays, KS and two young guys drove by telling me to pull over - the passenger side bearings had totally come apart and the whole thing was just about to catch fire. The up side of this was that I got to spend the weekend in Hays and when I got home I immediately purchased a TPMS. Between the tow and the replacing of the bearings it "only" cost me $650 and that was after AAA gave me $75 towards the tow. (Note where the spindle is relative to the hub)

Nothing like taking the long road "home". I'm a bit envious. Bill

One of the issues with shedding is getting fur (or hair) on the "sail switch" in the furnace. Besides using JD's advice above regarding filters, a small can of compressed air could come in handy for blowing off the switch. Bill

Dexter axle, grease zerks, and non-Euclidian Geometry
topgun2 replied to nrvale0's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I did the same with taking one into NAPA - no issues at all. While you're at it, buy a couple of extras just in case one of them gets plugged. Bill -
Progressive EMS Surge Remote Display and E9
topgun2 replied to GraniteStaters's topic in General Discussion
Weird - A couple of years ago I was having "issues" with the remote display. Like you, Progressive sent me a new remote display. Before receiving it (shipment only took a few days) I found that the negative cable wasn't tight on the protector. I tightened that but didn't test it before installing the new display. In any case - I've not had a problem since. Good luck. Bill -
A big welcome to the family! Indeed, you two are very lucky (sorry that I can't say the same for the person with the health issue). Take your time with your new baby and it will treat you well. You have many adventures ahead. Bill

Steve & Ann - I didn't get the street side awning. I really don't camp very much in places where it is really hot (desert SW for instance) and where I do camp without much shade I'm usually at altitude. In addition, I really don't even use the curbside awning very much since I'm out all day either fishing or hiking. I see that you have Hank. If he is going to be with you and if you are going to be leaving him in the Ollie while you are out, those awnings do help to keep the interior cooler versus what it would be without the awnings. Also, if you generally camp in "normal", organized campgrounds then there will be those times that either due to the sun's direction or the kind of site you are in, the street side awning just might come in handy. Bottom line - for me - I'm glad I didn't spend that money to get it. Bill

If you live near even a small town (8,000 people) there is probably a sheet metal shop near you. Simply take measurements, make a rough drawing of what you want and take it to them. You don't need "handy", you don't need talent and you don't need equipment - all you need is money. 😃 Bill

Something like this: Or how about this: As you can tell - I'm not a graphic designer and maybe a nice pen and ink would be better/clearer than a picture. A company called Vistaprint can get you one of these for $4.00 in the bumper sticker size. Bill

Dream Girl - Note that if you are still at Merriwether Lewis, you can get water at the drinking fountain that is in front of the restrooms in the camping area. That fountain has a spigot on it about half way down. Bill

As with a bunch of things - "the devil is in the details". A really nice job of connecting all those ground wires to the bus bar spoiled by not connecting one more. I suspect that the Zamp solar port was installed later. Certainly this is no excuse for missing the Zamp connection. If you haven't already done so - please forward an email to Jason Essary with the pictures above. Both Production and Service have quality control checklists that this issue should be added to. Bill

Kelly - Even though Shallowgal is currently on the road with their two large "doodles", I'm sure that they will get to your question when they have internet access. Meanwhile, I know that there are several other owners that manage to travel with large dogs - like ScubaRX and Reacher - and I'm sure that they will give a bunch of advice. Bill

Its something about a flake - I think.😁

I live in the mountains of western North Carolina. Winter temps can (rarely) get into the negative but as a general rule high teens and low twenties is about it and that is for (usually) very short periods of time. Since my FLA batteries are both inside the Ollie's battery compartment keeping each other warm and (like yours) the Oliver is covered, and they are being charged via a 20 watt solar panel - much less than your 30 amp service - I have had no worries for the past 6 winters.
