I had a similar issue that turned out to be a faulty remote switch. After discussing the issue with the rep at last year's Owner's Rally and trying a few of his suggestions I called, we talked about it briefly and then a week later a new switch arrived at my doorstep. These switches are not terribly expensive (less than $30) and my unit is pushing the five year old mark, but, it was very nice of Xantrex to warranty the part anyway. The install was extremely easy and now everything is back to normal. Bill

Shallowgal - In certain situations lithium batteries have been known to ignite other than the fact that they were being charged (with the original charger and charging cord) . I have no idea as to why these laptop batteries made that decision, but, since they were inside the battery compartment of the laptop and wound up both catching on fire and exploding, they caused massive damage to the laptop (i.e. the laptop is burnt toast 😂). WalMart has them for $12.77 (single) and $34.61 (double). That shrink wrap that holds the two cans together sure must be some expensive stuff! Bill

Last night I was charging the battery(s) on my laptop in my office when they decided to "do the lithium thing". If it wasn't for the fact that this was in my house and in my office the fireworks were fairly interesting - individual cells exploding and shooting in all directions with flames coming from their afterburners. I'm extremely happy to report that the "Tundra fire extinguisher" performed exactly as advertised and total damage is certainly much less than what it could have been. I'll shortly be ordering a couple more of these but be sure to see the first post in this thread above. Bill

With the antenna on the exterior of that double hull and insulation any lack of reception is more than likely not due to those two things. I too do not use the omni-directional antenna very much as I'm not usually camped anywhere near a place where there is any signal. And, since there is no signal in these places that means that there is usually no cell coverage either (so - no streaming or internet). Therefore, DVD's and books (both audio and regular) are my friends. However, while getting to those places I do find that catching up on weather or news or some mindless garbage show can be helpful. As compared to the "old" antennas that you had to wind up and turn to find signals the omni-directional is a blessing. Also, I do believe that it provides much better reception than the "standard" antenna in that it is in a higher location on the camper and more robust than the standard one. Bill

As Mike said - the problem is remembering to open (or close) that valve. However, the electric switch option still requires you to remember to open (or close) the valve. All the switch does is save you from having to bend over to open (or close) via the manual one. You would almost have to actually try to catch your ankle on that manual handle. Again, as Mike said, I've never even thought about it. Bill

Susan - A quick check using Google finds that the Ryobi 2300 is 57db while the Honda 2200 is 48 to 57db. Bill

This past September I got a chance to see one of the new "printers" that had just been installed. Pretty impressive! This area does virtually all of the printing for all of the Oliver companies - not just the Travel Trailers. Bill

Trainman - Actually Oliver produces these graphics in house and not by an outside source. Bill

You could always ask your sale rep at Oliver to send you a sample - that way you would be certain as to your choices.

Take a look at SeaDawg's post above. I picked up my Oliver on February 16th - a few years ago. Crossing the mountains of western North Carolina was a real treat that day in that the temps were right at 31 to 33 degrees with rain - four days of it! Even though the camp grounds were a sea of mud and my nice new Oliver paid the price, the temps in Hohenwald were in the high 30's. On the other hand - temps at that time of year can be in the middle to upper 50's. Good luck! Bill

No wonder that there is "no lifeguard on duty". I can only imagine what the temp of that water is! Seriously - there are a bunch of us that are very jealous at this moment. Looks like a wonderful spot. And, from what I see in the local newspaper it appears that your temps have been rather warm. Bill

The current way to get custom things done on your Oliver is to either: 1. Talk to the Oliver Service department after (or even before) delivery. 2. Hire someone local to do your bidding. 3. Do the job yourself. Bill

Older (I'm not too sure what that means) alarms had an expected life of 5 years. But I've been told that the newer ones (not sure what that means either) have a life of 10 years. Supposedly, the newer ones will also give you a warning via a certain series of beeps as to when they are at of approaching this end of their expected life. All of the above is still no reason for the detector to die after only 18 months in service. Once I get (another) reply from Dometic I'll update. Bill

As I mentioned in my May 26th post above, I'm still dealing with Dometic concerning my warranty claim. They had me take the "dead" alarm to an authorized service center - the local CampingWorld - who tested it and confirmed that it was indeed dead. Then I emailed Dometic and asked what did I need to do next and they asked me to send them a picture of the dead unit. Great, but, CampingWorld kept it! So, I sent Dometic a description and a link to their own website. In return they sent me a picture (the same one that is on their website) to confirm that this was the unit. I confirmed it just yesterday so now we will see what happens next. Bill p.s. (edit) sure is a bunch nicer on those rare occasions when I have needed to deal with Oliver.
