  1. That is a pretty nifty installation. I do wonder about the quality of the tracks, the Amazon page does not say what they are made of. One reviewer says they will collapse when bent. If that is true, a stronger material like 6061-T6 would prevent the TV from possibly tearing loose ;( Can you show a pic of the inside of the cabinet where the rails attach? And one of the TV bracket? How hard is it to get around the TV and out the rear emergency egress window? Thanks. John Davies Spokane WA
  2. I apologize if I offended anyone, including Jason, I could have phrased it much better. But I truly believe what I posted about garbage content for the vast majority of travel articles... they are click bait and not worthy of this site. https://matadornetwork.com/bnt/interview-tim-leffel-on-quality-travel-writing-in-the-internet-age/ Patriot, you can tone your comments down too. They are pretty harsh. John Davies Spokane WA
  3. Why is this even here? Please delete. John Davies Spokane WA
  4. Jason - Please do not mass post a bunch of cr@p “cut and paste” poorly written Internet travel drivel in what should be an Oliver technical tips forum. The travel stuff are a waste of bandwidth and a complete waste of time, both to post and to read. Thank you. John Davies Spokane WA
  5. Take a look at this old thread and comment afterwards. https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/3145-owner-personal-liability-if-prospective-buyer-injures-himself/ This new program sure looks like an official business arrangement, with “sales employees” who get financially reimbursed for advertising work that benefits the company
.. I did not read the fine details, does Oliver TT say anything about this issue? FYI, while I stopped officially showing “Mouse” due to liability concerns. I still do frequent walk around tours. The last was in October ‘22 to a milling and excited crowd of about 25 retired women who meet at campgrounds to do stuff together like biking or golfing. Three of them physically blocked the road as I was trying to exit in the morning. That was a hoot, I thought I might get kissed at one point. Didn’t happen, darn it. John Davies Spokane WA
  6. It would have to go outside, in the upper access area - the burner area is where fires normally start. So it would perhaps need to be above the direct chimney heat. I actually like the concept, I was wondering when the Chinese would give us cheaper versions of this patented unit: https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/4291-how-to-element-fire-extinguisher-install/ Those are great, I bought three already and would buy extras if the price weren’t so very high. I will wait for some actual test reviews of the Jogoswal units before getting any. The price will be way cheaper after the other manufacturers start copying the design. If there is even a functional Chinese manufacturing sector in a year
. ;). Also, I don’t see any info about water resistance, I wash my engine compartments at least annually, and a fridge bay is certainly a “wet” location. if it gets damp on your car, the engine heat will dry it quickly. Not so in the fridge. Did anyone notice this: ”The small fire extinguisher is very suitable for ladies, can be used as car accessories for women ,or girly car decor accessories.” FYI Fridge Defend is RV SPECIFIC and adds a thermo sensor directly to the burner can, where a fire originates. Plus it is made in Montana and they will actually answer your email

  7. You don't need to shut off the main valves unless you expect to be blown into the surf. Just don't use the fridge, WH or furnace on gas, unless you have to, because the flame could blow out and/ or the draft could go in the wrong direction. All the appliances rely on natural convection (chimney effect) for their proper operation. In other words, normal winds. John Davies Spokane WA
  8. Do you have shore power? That would be good, because intense wind blasts can screw up propane appliances. I used to rush outside with my sister to sit in the car to listen to a big storm passing over. Of course I was six and she was nine..,.,. Stay safe. John Davies Spokane WA
  9. FYI the cheap “bullet” regulator does indeed protect from high pressure, but it also restricts the water flow. A full flow adjustable one is much better in the long run. John Davies Spokane WA
  10. Actually I added that note to a stock Home Depot image. It was meant to be humor
..The tank does not say that anywhere. John Davies Spokane WA

  12. Some interesting info in the following thread. Those handy bottles don’t have 20 pounds of fuel in them, just 15! You may want to rethink that box store cylinder exchange routine, because your usable fuel capacity just dropped by 25%. I bought a new empty 20 pound bottle at U-Haul for my new pizza oven at home, so I could get an actual 20 pound fill, by weight. My trailer bottles are 30 pounders, which get filled to 30 real pounds. https://www.rvforum.net/threads/the-cost-of-propane-and-propane-tank-exchanges.125642/ Maybe under-filled bottles is one reason those exchange ones are “easier” to lift into position
😬 If I ever start to have trouble lifting my large ones, I will just have them partially filled. John Davies Spokane WA
  13. Those exhange tanks found at box stores typically have about 15 pounds of propane.
  14. I installed brass 90 deg “street elbows” with new short rubber hoses. One important part of inspecting the hoses is to look for cracks (weather checking) and stainless wrapped hoses prevent this. Plus they are completely unnecessary in this application. Be aware that the small check valves must be retained, they provide one way flow away from the regulator, otherwise the switch over function will no longer work, since the tanks will essentially be connected to each other. John Davies Spokane WA
  15. The recommended grease is a regular white lithium type. It is a poor choice! Clean it out and use Redline CV2. These cavities should be well packed by hand, not like this: https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/4094-how-to-vip-3000-electric-stabilizer-jack-service/ John Davies Spokane WA
  16. FYI if you camp in many parts of the West, where fluky, strong and unexpected wind gusts happen - downbursts, williwas, dust devils, whatever you want to call them - do not leave your awnings out when you away from the trailer. Better yet, leave them retracted all the time. That sort of makes awnings completely unusable, doesn’t it? If not for the future resale value I would take my single Fianma off completely. I very rarely open it. And tie down your CLAM, low and angled sharply downwards, not sideways, so it can collapse without harm. I experienced one while tent camping on the White Rim Road, Canyonlands NP, in late May. It was about 90 degrees, sunny, NO breeze, then suddenly a very violent gust ripped through the site, blowing my loose gear toward the Colorado River, but thankfully not into it. A minute later the air was calm. Lesson learned... https://www.weather.gov/fgz/DustDevil https://www.rvtravel.com/southwest-snowbirds-beware-wind-many-names/ I think Oliver should make the awnings optional, on both sides. John Davies Spokane WA
  17. HH limits the number to ONE per night. If the host property is actually following that rule, I fail to see how one strange RV per day is bothering anybody at all. Except the nearby jerks
.. The campfire issue is a real one but easily enforceable - just have the host put up a sign and the sheriff can vigorously prosecute any violation. The rest of this situation is BS but that comment is drifting into politics. After all, nobody forced these RV owners to that state but themselves. 😬 Happy Holidays John Davies Spokane WA
  18. Without a volt ohm-meter (VOM) you are just drifting in the wind. You need to be able to check voltages and do some basic electrical troubleshooting. We cannot do that for you from across the country. You cannot go wrong with this excellent one, it is perfect for RV use. YIRU UNI-T UT210 Series True RMS Digital Clamp Meter AC/DC Voltage Tester with ohm, Capacitance Measurement If you are not comfortable doing that, you need to hire a pro. John Davies Spokane WA

  21. Speak and ye shall receive
Merry Christmas. https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/6892-how-to-connect-a-standard-sae-4-pin-harness-or-4-pin-with-backup-lights-to-your-oliver-factory-7-pin-wires/ Warning - the color coding may be different in your brand new trailer. An extra strong warning - do NOT cut open the light bar harness itself!!! The wires inside mine were incredibly tiny and treacherous to splice, maybe 30 AWG. My light bar works great. It is a very cool and sexy mod, even with nothing on the rack. John Davies Spokane WS
  22. Too low! You need a 12 foot high door, at least. You also need a 16 foot ceiling in the garage so you can get up top and do maintenance and cleaning. In other words, an RV bay, not a garage. My door is 10 wide x 14 feet high. If you do not build it as a standard RV bay it will make it a lot harder to sell the house later. The older generation that is downsizing and investing in big RVs wants a bay and a small house. Out of the 25 houses on my street, 8 have attached RV bays. 43 or 45 feet long. John Davies Spokane WA
  23. I looked in the online manual and did not find a drawing for the Elite. THIS one is for the LE2, but it shows the difference between 6 v and 12 v wiring. Your setup should look like the area in the yellow box. Pull out the tray drawer again, ID all the terminals polarity and write POS and NEG beside each one in large letters with a silver Sharpie pen. After you have corrected the wiring, write + and - on the actual cable ends. Did you take a picture before you took everything apart? If not, bad boy! John Davies Spokane WA
  24. These couplers are heavy duty forged steel and I see no way for one to bend without any other signs of damage. The big coupler is rated for 12’,500 pounds! You need more info from Service. What exactly is damaged? The hinged door or its pin? The only way that could happen is if you towed with the door open (not latched). Maybe the manufacturer should get involved. I am sure they would want to know about any faults. IMHO you would see the ball snap clean off before the coupler failed. Good luck. John Davies Spokane WA
