New axles may not fit all older sub-frames

Yes

If you are going to order, I know you will check the specs & cost with Dexter first and what is or is not included. I cannot speak to bearings, new or old style, the Dexter distributor can answer this. Dexter 3" U bolts are 1/2" and off the shelf 5 leaf springs are 1 3/4" wide. Not current on Alcan spring replacement specs.

Springs, mounting hardware, EZ flex, handling & shipping are extra. I looked up the Dexter distributor for my zip code on the Dexter website and called them, Redneck Trailer Lincolnton, NC to get the information I posted above.

Also posted the build sheet for one of my axles earlier in this thread.

FYI:  This is exactly what we learned from Dexter and OTT last May when we switched ours out.  Turned out that OTT had the correctly sized D52s in stock for our model year (luckily) so we didn't have to wait 3 - 4 weeks for the special order from Dexter.  The price was $825/ea from OTT but that included the Dexter 4-pack 1,750# which we didn't need.  

Just as an interrogative comment:

Since installing the Alcans in March, we've logged 6,750 miles on them and since upgrading from the D35s to D52s in May, we've logged 3,729 miles on the axles.  We've experience zero issues and frankly, cannot "feel" or observe any differences while under tow.  I "base-lined photographed" each of the aluminum angle cross members prior to installing the springs and have checked them several times since and haven't noted any cracked welds or other damage.  At the 5,000-mile point, we last checked the 3" x 9/16" U-bolt torque - all good.  Granted, we didn't wonder off on any long unimproved roads except for a few short jaunts into BLM and USFS campgrounds....  

FWIW:  We'll continue to keep a weather-eye on the running gear (as we would anyway), but our peace of mind and overall confidence in Casablanca is significantly better than before making these improvements.

Do you recall if the axles you removed were SC 50.0" or 50.5"?

Another thing I wondering about, if the axle SC spec did not change from 2015/2016 to 2017, there could have been enough fabrication tolerance (Oliver welded axle mount) to allow the 50.5" to fit, just a thought for now.

LE2 (Dexter axle spring center) SC & weight capacity specifications, from information gathered, looks like only 2015 & 2016 LE2's axles have  SC of 50” (so far)

It was not my intention to start a list, but this will keep info organized.

2010 LE2 #45 SC 50.5" 5200lbs

2015 LE2 #75 SC 50” 5200lb

2016 LE2 #110 SC 50” 3500lb (Gathered from info Chris posted)

2016 LE2 # 113 SC 50 “ 3500lb

This is an outlier. It appears every other hull 2016 and older has the 50” axle. If this is true and Dexter can build either when ordered, why would OTT start with 50.5” then use 50” and then back to 50.5. It’s not what Henry Ford would have done!

Not to make the list more complicated or confusing, but would it be of value to anyone by indicating OEM "original" axle capacity and "upgraded" axle capacity for those that have gone from D35s to D52s?  Just a thought...

When #45 was built, Oliver's main production was the Elite I, with the 5200# axle we have. It's what they had in stock, imo.

That's what I was thinking, which means the early E1's were probably all 50.5 SC too.

Can you take a photo of the Dexter label on one of your axles & post or let me know if the SC is 50 or 50.5 and if axle is 3500lb or 5200lb capacity.
