ScottyGS Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Don't have pics at the moment... But... We are using the Cargo Glide in a 2016 F-150. We bought the TV and Oliver at about the same time and got the CG right away. I was going to wait and see how NOT having the CG would work but Donna said that one crawl into the bed to get something and i would want to kick myself for that decision. So, we got it and she was right. We have a cap and I put some 2x3's across the lip and added 3 sheets of pegboard to create a shelf. Steve has a much better option... He made a shelf that is attached to the glide so they both slide in and out. I would love that but not sure I have the skills. (Unless Steve posts a detailed tutorial.... HINT HINT) Worth the money. 1 Gregg & Donna Scott and Missy the Westie - The Flying Sea Turtle - 2016 Hull # 145 2024 Nissan Titan XD - Western NC

Landrover Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I just installed a system called Decked. It has two large slide out draws about 4’ long it has a composite deck that will hold 2000lbs in each corner there are small cubby storage. Each unit conforms to your type of truck bed. Very easy to install about two hours. Cost about $1250. Free shipping. Working very well so far I have a good amount of weight in the draws and they roll very easy and close nice. Web site is Decked good video on the product. 1 Grant 2022 GMC Denali 2500 HD 2019 Elite 11😎
Overland Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 There's a place in Iowa, Ainley Kennels, that will make custom aluminum drawers & slides. I talked with them last year about making something for my truck, but never followed through. But they were going to make one for me that had two 12" tall drawers, a 20 gallon water tank, and a full extension slide on top for around $2000, which I thought was pretty reasonable. I think it was a few hundred more for a 6 ½' bed. I should get back on that - it would sure simplify things. 2
ScottyGS Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Bill, I am using a Cargo Glide 1000. It's been installed for about 3 years now and no issues. Here is a pic of the slide and the "shelf" I build for cheap... just 2x3's and some peg board. Works fairly well for what I need to store in the bed. MrBig1 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Thank you Townesw for starting this post. My Chevy 2500 could stand one of these. I suppose they can be made in different lengths. I have a toolbox/60gal fuel tank in my bed. I also carry 50gal of fresh water with me so knowing that these drawers can support a load is very important to me. Additional storage is a plus. 3 Ray and Betty Jo Bayless Our two pups Muffinz and Maddie 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 Duramax 6.6 liter 4WD Crew 2018 Oliver LE2 Twin Bed, Hull #322, Our Igloo on Wheels
Newshoes Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I like the slides but don't like the fact that you need to drill new holes through the bed floors. Unless the install puts nautical bedding compound around the holes and fasteners the new holes will introduce the possibility of rusting around those points. Doing it correctly with the install is easy but unless you supervise the install it is likely to be substandard. Just my 2 cents. Thanks 2019 Legacy Elite #431; 2019. Overland Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I think most if not all of the slides use the factory mounting bolts for the bed.
Townesw Posted June 17, 2019 Author Posted June 17, 2019 [postquote quote=175221][/postquote] I agree about doing it yourself. [postquote quote=175233][/postquote] The video I watched on the CargoGlide install shows them drilling holes. Not something I’m looking forward to doing to a new Duramax, but I’d rather me do it than some installer. 1 1 Bill and Martha 2018 LEII Hull 313 Original owners 3/14/2018 2019 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax
Overland Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I see that now. I know there's at least one brand that doesn't require drilling (on a Ford, at least), but of course I can't find it now. Looks like both Cargo Glide and Bed Slide want you to drill. I might be O.K. with that on a steel bed truck, but not sure about an aluminum F150 bed being able to hold. I'd want some serious washers underneath at a minimum.
Moderator+ ScubaRx Posted June 17, 2019 Moderator+ Posted June 17, 2019 This is the slide I bought 6 years ago. It has gone thru several iterations of build in the two different pickups I’ve mounted it in. It has two different levels (as I built it.) You do have to drill to mount it. Both in the slide and the bed. If you are handy and doing it yourself this probably won’t bother you too badly. 1 Steve, Tali and our dog Rocky plus our beloved dogs Storm, Lucy, Maggie and Reacher (all waiting at the Rainbow Bridge) 2008 Legacy Elite I - Outlaw Oliver, Hull #026 | 2014 Legacy Elite II - Outlaw Oliver, Hull #050 | 2022 Silverado High Country 3500HD SRW Diesel 4x4
Raspy Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I put a Rat Pack in the beed of my truck. Then, when I retired, I installed one of them in my Ram. They last forever and roll very easily. But they are expensive. Mine is about 22" wide, 48" long and about 12"-14" high. Pushed forward it allows a lot of area between it and the tailgate, and full length and height of the bed beside it. The biles can still roll in next to it under that camper shell. Mine is full of gear I seldom use, but must have along. Like the Viar compressor, floor jack, jumper cables, extra draw bars, tow ropes, etc. I'm thinking about sliding it rearward a ways to allow two jerry cans to sit in front of it. I don't want them in the trailer. 2 John "I only exaggerate enough to compensate for being taken with a grain of salt." LE2 #92 (sold), Black Series HQ19
Townesw Posted July 12, 2019 Author Posted July 12, 2019 We were traveling from Grand Marais MN to Baileys Harbor WI today and made a detour to Antigo WI where Slide Masters are made. This is the company that made ScubaRx’s slide out tray. Looked at a display at a store there and also a Slide Master in the bed of the truck that belongs to the fellow that runs the company. All of their slide outs are custom made to your dimensions. Based on what I saw today I think I’ll go with the Slide Master. Traveling through Antigo I saw a sign “SQUIRREL TAILS WANTED”. Turns out Mepps Spinners (fishing lures) are made here. https://www.mepps.com/ Bill and Martha 2018 LEII Hull 313 Original owners 3/14/2018 2019 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax
Moderator+ ScubaRx Posted July 21, 2019 Moderator+ Posted July 21, 2019 We too, are headed thru Antigo Wisconsin sometime in the next week or so. I’m contemplating building a new system for the back of my truck. If I do, my existing slide system will be for sale. I know it will perfectly fit in the bed of any 2014 to 2019 General Motors pickup, short or standard bed. Interested? PM me with any questions for more information. Townesw Posted July 22, 2019 Author Posted July 22, 2019 Steve, thanks but I’m not interested in yours but it would be a nice unit for someone else. I’m interested in an AH3 with some additional features built in. Be sure to take all your squirrel tails and drop them off at the Mepps factory in Antigo. They’ll pay you cash money for them. Or double the cash value in Mepps merchandise. Can’t beat that. Bill and Martha 2018 LEII Hull 313 Original owners 3/14/2018 2019 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax

KWRJRPE Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Bill Yesterday, I upgraded from my 2015 Toyota Tundra to a new 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali, crew cab 4WD Duramax 6.6L Diesel with Allison 6-speed transmission, 445hp, 910 ft-lb torque, 3.73 rear axle, 20-inch Goodyear wranglers, GVWR 10,000 lbs. (payload 2500lbs). Plan to install ARE truck cap. Looked at the Slide Master web site and very interested. Please keep me posted on your thinking and progress with Slide Master since we now have similar trucks. Curious as to your decision on the Slide Master model, steel or aluminum, tray, etc. I did call Slide Master and install does require drilling into that brand new, Denali-liner truck bed (ouch). Not being a skilled person, I likely will outsource the Slide Master install to a capable craftsperson (maybe Cap World since they will install my truck cap). Exciting stuff (all it takes is money). Quite sad about drilling holes, but, seems to be the way to leverage that 100% slide out. KWR 2019 Oliver Legacy Elite II, Hull#444 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab, 4WD, Denali, Duramax 6.6L Turbo Diesel V8 Engine with Allison 6-speed transmission
Moderator+ ScubaRx Posted July 22, 2019 Moderator+ Posted July 22, 2019 Steve, would it fit in a 2015 Tundra? Thanks Quite nicely methinks.
