I think I heard that our state had 70,000 out of state workers here, with trucks. Just want to say, Florida folks love all of you unnamed pros who sacrificed time at home with your families to bring the power to our homes, and more importantly, to hospitals, fire stations, and traffic signals. We're all good here. A few cuts and sprains in the neighborhood, from working in the dark, but we really only dealt with first world problems here. Lack of ac and power, no cell phone charging, etc, for only five to seven days for most of us. It's still way worse in other parts of our state, and in the islands in Irma's path. Here, we didn't get the horrible sustained winds that other areas received. My heart goes out to the inland dwellers who caught so much unpredicted wind and rain. And even more to the Islanders...keys, Puerto Rico, vi,Cuba, Barbuda, and so many more. We here at least had messed up yards, trees, but homes to return to. So much worse elsewhere. Sherry3 points

Scott told Tali that Oliver has contracted with a local vet to keep your dogs free of charge while you are at the factory.3 points

Mike and Carol: I installed an accumulator tank after taking delivery of my trailer because the pump pulsation was making a "water hammer" noise and I wanted to quiet it down. Had put accumulator tanks on boats in the past and found them a nice addition to on board water systems. Since the water pump on my Oliver was a Shurflo, I used a Shurflo accumulator tank to keep the fittings the same, Shurflo Model 182-200. When I ordered the accumulator tank I also got what Shurflo calls a "silencer kit', mainly for the extra length hoses with fittings installed to facilitate the installation. I think my installation may have been the basis for adoption of the accumulator tank in the newer models. Putting the tank in provides a pressure buffer, quiets the system, and takes the shock out of the pump cycling on and off. Pictures of my installation are set out below. If you elect to do a tank installation, you might want to get pictures of the accumulator tank installation from Oliver to see how they are doing it. As an additional thought, do you have the old style water tank connection coming off the back of the water tank, or the new style coming off the top. If it is the old style you might want to read the posts of those who had trouble drawing water from the water tank when the tank was partially empty or the trailer was nose down. In any event, good luck in finding a solution. John Shkor SailorsAshore2 points

Edited to explain that the below info was for factory tour, not pickup.
Pets wouldn't do well inside the factory so I'm glad there are other options. Also, wear some closed toe shoes. When we were there a few weeks ago, a couple had to reschedule because they just had sandals with them. If you don't have glasses, they will loan you a pair of safety glasses.
1 point

I've always disconnected the chains from the plate, to disconnect, doing this allows you to hookup the way you would a normal hitch and pull away, once out of your bad angle situation you can hook one chain, then tow it tight, straightening the system and hook up the other. Nothing says it has to be exact right from the start.1 point

We too thought we wanted an SUV to accommodate more people, dogs, and cargo. We thought we would trade in our Toyota 4Runner for a Sequoia. (Loyal Toyota owners here.) However, we decided on the less expensive and perhaps better towing capacity option of a Toyota Tundra extended cab and purchased a camper shell to cover the bed of the truck. We are happy with the result.1 point

Checking the water levels and adding water is no big deal. I also bought the Hydrolink watering system for resale value and honestly, it is nice and a clean way to fill the batteries but only needing to use it every 3 to 6 months kind of defeats the purpose. I would by the Hydrolink again myself though just for ease of use, but realistically it's not needed :) As far as the Expedition goes, with a 6600lb towing capacity, there are better choices out there like the Lincoln Navigator with a 7700lb towing capacity if you like the Ford style or we really love our Mercedes and a Mercedes GL would be the Expedition equivalent but with a 7500lb tow capacity. Personally, I would buy the Lincoln over the Ford because of the much higher towing capacity.1 point

My level pops out of a hole, I assumed (ass, you, me, etc) that all the jack heads were all the same. If that were a constant problem, I'd drill a hole under the bubble level.1 point

You are correct about more amp hours, but realistically there are only 25 more usable. This would work out to about one nights use. You are correct about the weight T-105's weigh 62 lbs, AGM's weigh 65 lbs. That is 12 pounds difference, I doubt you could tell the difference. You do have to check the water levels in the T-105's. Is it "...so onerous that it justifies the higher cost and lower AHs?..." to me, absolutely!!! Both of these systems include greasable wet bolts, the difference is the heavy duty compression rubber in the center of the equalizer in the EZ-Flex. Most of us have the EZ-Flex, but some have suggested the other one. I think the choice boils down to personal preference, but you should definitely opt for one of them. I installed the EZ-Flex after delivery (my trailer is the earliest one built-no available options at the time) and having the factory do the work is the way to go. Sorry I can't help you with your tow vehicle question. Congratulations on your new Oliver and welcome to the club.1 point

Riffles stayed with us throughout the day, it wasn't an issue and they made sure that he felt at home also. It was a full day either way and as long as your dog is trained to stay with you on or off leash, all is good :)1 point

We had ours in the truck. We parked out back, and went out of every once and a while to check, water, and walk. He stayed in motel rooms with us on the way down.1 point

JuniorBirdMan has me also thinking about "Squadron of Ollies" or "Formation of Ollies", too!1 point

Buzzy suggested something that refers to the Oliver owner, and I like that idea. Word association put me in mind of the Laurel and Hardy comedy team. (We were certainly a happy lot at the last rally.) So the gathering could be "A stand of Ollies." The vehicle is an Oliver,...the owners are Ollies. John Shkor SailorsAshore1 point
