  1. We have hull #211, and are very happy with the unit. Yes, we have fixed a drawer. Yes, we have modified and added things. Yes, it was fun and continues to be. The Zamp controller is something that hangs on the wall. We turn on a switch and lights, tv, and fans come on. We are not plugged in. Must be the system is working. More of the KISS Principle. Ever seen an ad for a used Airstream? Most say new floors. Not fun and something we never see a need to do in the Oliver. Sometimes the negatives you hear on the forum are self inflicted, read all comments with an open mind. Good luck with your new Oliver...

  2. Update on Disc Brakes: It has now been more than 7 months since my install. We have pulled the OO-II about 13000 miles since then. From here to northern Washington and from here to extreme eastern Tennessee and a couple of trips back and forth to the factory with two different tow vehicles. The brakes have performed flawlessly. I did have to adjust the on board brake controller down a couple of points to keep them from locking up all four wheels at one time. I have crawled under it several times to make sure there were no fluid leaks. I had a problem at the initial install with a fitting leaking and it took replacing the fitting to get it to stop. Apparently, it was defective from the factory but it made me a little gun-shy about leaks. Not a drop since. I am happy with them.

  3. We bought the Vornado on Mike and Carol's advice and we love it. We think it heats the trailer faster than the furnace, and is definitely quieter. We keep ours stowed in the closet when not in use. If you aren't plugged in, the heater sucks batteries, of course. Normally, we found ourselves at 80% charge in the AM, and warming the trailer up with the heater would take us down to 70%. We would then let the furnace take over from there, but if we kept the heater on until we left for the day, it would be down around 50-60%. With our extra solar, though, we found that if we're expecting good sun we can run them down that much and still have 100% charge before night. We tried running the heater along with the toaster oven, but the inverter began to complain, lol.

  4. It's pretty easy to run a cable and wiring up the rear corner and into the upper cabinets. Probably an easy spot next to the pantry as well where the solar runs up, but I haven't needed to work in there yet... There's good access and the wire would easily fit into the tray that runs under the cabinet floor all along the wall to the entry door panel. If you don't have a fish tape, there's still plenty of room to push a wire down from the top into the bottom access to grab with... The Oliver is actually well built to work on. Reed

  5. Has anyone thought about putting it outside, in the storage compartment, so you can see and operate it with the hatch door open? I don't have that option, I have an external but from what I can see, it looks like it will fit above the outside shower and that would put it in a great spot that's easy to check every time you hook up. Like next to where I have my level in the pic.

  6. This is on my Honey Do list. Mine is currently under the street-side twin bed. I will move it outside the compartment about 18 inches off the floor. I will put it close to and inline with the mattress so the lights do not bother either rear sleeper. Fortunately there is lots of slack in the cable. That Oliver choses to install a REMOTE display inside a hidden compartment is mind boggling. You need to be able to see it from near the front door at a glance, without disturbing the bedding or removing stored items. You need to be able to switch it off easily. I actually would much prefer it to be mounted under the entry door light switch panel, but I don’t want to string a new cable under the floor. Has anyone asked why they chose the rear buried location? John Davies Spokane WA

  7. I updated to the Dometic Comfort Control Center 2 Thermostat manual on Oliver University. Thanks Reed and Karen.

  8. I’ve moved mine under the dinette on the outside wall and mounted with Command strips. I can see the display from the door during setup at a campsite.

  9. Brad - I moved mine into the pantry. I put it as high as possible and in the center. Easy to get to and easy to see but the flashing of the screen is blocked by the pantry door when I don't need it. Bill

  10. Thanks again Everyone, Karen, We are fully winterized and dry camping now. Not too much of an inconvenience since we are mostly staying with friends or at a campsite. When I saw how cold it was going to get I decided to winterize before rather than after the trip. Thanks for the advice though. I am sure it will come in handy sometime.. Bill, Thanks for the I-40 heads up. We went through there when we picked up the FST heading east. Now I will hit that road in both directions over 3 days. I will keep away from the TT's. I usually try to do that anyways. Scotty

  11. Mark: We are among the very happy & satisfied Oliver owners. Ours is Elite II hull #217. Was everything perfect on delivery? Mostly. Did we have a few issues once we got home? Yes. Were they all fixed? Yes, but it did require a trip back to Hohenwald. (In fairness to Oliver, they would have paid for a local repair, but I didn’t have a lot of confidence in the local RV shop.) Our learning lesson was this. The usual delivery, if it was like mine, had an explanation of how things work, and a demonstration of some. The underlying assumption was that if it was installed it would work, but that didn’t prove to be the case for the water heater on propane. My belief is that a better delivery practice would have been if I had asked the factory rep to “prove” every operating system before writing the final check. If it is supposed to make hot water on either propane or electricity, let’s see it do each one. If TV sound is supposed to come out of either the TV or the stereo speakers, let’s hear from both. Will the furnace make heat? Will the AC blow cold air, or hot if called for. Does the cell phone amplifier boost the cell signal? The WiFi booster? Can the TV really get a broadcast channel. What has to change before it can show a cable channel? It might have been tedious, but would have caught some hidden issues. The learning lesson for us was that taking delivery of an Oliver is not like taking delivery of a new car. Most of us don’t live in Tennessee, and so the dealer isn’t just down the street for warranty repair. Everything needs to be operating correctly before you hook up and drive away. The further you live from Hohenwald, the more critical a thorough delivery process becomes. Would we do it again. Absolutely. We think the Oliver Elite II is the country’s truly outstanding small travel trailer, and we couldn’t be happier with ours. John Shkor SailorsAshore

  12. In this new world of "Customer Service" I would never pass up the opportunity to talk to a real person on the phone. Thank you Oliver Travel Trailers for being small enough and considerate enough to still have this option. I, personally, love being able to call OTT and put a face to the person on the other end of the line.
